    I'm the original owner of my 2006 TSX, and watching your video is the first time that I realized that there is an extra notch on the hood support to allow for further opening. Doh! Only took me 16 years. Thanks for that nugget of knowledge.

    Swapped in a new pump yesterday and your video was a big help for seeing a way to lever the tensioner pulley with the two-wrench trick! Note: when you bolt the low pressure connector on, there is a red rubber o-ring that needs to be put on the black plastic connector before you bolt it on with the single 10mm bolt.

    Great video! For any new viewers it's helpful to know that you can also apply a vacuum pump to the adjacent power steering fluid reservoir to aid in removing air from the circuit that was introduced when you removed the hoses from the old pump as well as the new pump being basically empty while you move the steering wheel from side to side with the motor off. That's much easier to do if you have the front end on jack stands first. You can keep vacuum applied as you start the engine and continue to move the steering wheel from full left to full right and repeat several times. You can buy those vacuum pumps at any retail autoparts store (i.e. Autozone, Advanced Auto, PepBoys, etc.) Also, it's not a bad idea to add some fluid to the high pressure side of the pump just before you reconnect that line.

    Gotta do this and the rack and pinion when they come in the next few days. I contacted my Acura dealership just curious to see prices. That little bitty power steering pump he’s holding in hand is $1,100 at Acura! The rack and pinion is $1,400!! I paid $110 for the pump and about $300 for the rack from Rockauto.

    I would GREATLY aporeciate a reply if possible. We followed your amazing video and replaced the pump- no problem! However when we refilled the reservoir, left the cap off & turned on the car so any air bubbles could come out- all the fluid immediately started draining out from SOMEWHERE but we can't determind where. Do you have any ideas/suggestions please?

    Very good video. Unfortunately, my TSX PS pulley just did not want to come off. I tried your technique but the nut had seized so tightly that the inner edges of the pulley were getting dented instead of the nut breaking. I used PB blast penetrating oil too. But just couldn't get it out with risking further damage to the pulley. In such cases it's worth noting that an impact gun may be necessary. Otherwise the rest of the project was exactly as described.

Because of this video I was able to knock it out in about an hour (including the 2nd trip to the auto parts store to get a new socket for my impact wrench to get off a stripped bold). Super easy. Man thank you for this! I have a tendency to strip the bolt head on the tensioner using two wrenches like you did. I'm tempted to grab a tensioner/serpentine belt toolkit since my breaker bar is too large to use in that tight area. Is that advisable?

    • @GTContent
      @GTContent  Рік тому +1

      Some wrenches are worn or have low tolerances which tend to strip the bolt. If the bolt is stripped, I'd try using a decent sized vice grip to clamp it down really good and bang it with a hammer. Spray with lube and let it sit over night first.

    I think your supposed to bleed the power steering pump by just moving the steering wheel because if its low and maybe leaking situation and you replace, theres alot of bubbles and that fluid is used to lubricate the pump rotor or so on. I think its wise to rotate your steering wheels alot and make sure its at the right level then turn on engine. That's my iffy thing.

    Legit question, air pockets, how do you bleed out air pockets?

    • @GTContent
      @GTContent  Рік тому

      Jack front of car on stands so it's the highest point. Fill with PS fluid to full. Go into TSX and start car. Turn steering wheel all the way left, then all the way right. Do this several times and check fluid level. Fill it up if low. Check for any drips, leaks, noise. Sometimes, if there's too many air bubbles/foamy look in the PS reservoir, give it a few hours to go away and then start the procedure again.
