  • Take a look at a jobsite where I use the PR172 CAT Power Rake, commonly called a Harley Rake. No matter what you call it, this attachment is my favorite and I think hands down the best attachment for a skid steer...

      Thanks Brandon! Showing a little grade work I learned from you. Actually I've learned a few tricks of the trade from watching your work. I learned, one day, not to swing the excavator blade into the side of a building and bran new door 🤪😳😁. But, seriously, it great to see the good and bad. It helps folks learn and it makes great videos too. And thanks for helping my channel as well. You subscribed early on after you saw the channel and that was cool to see a bigger channel noticing a little guy.

    I love a power rake. We have one at my day job. It has a bigger roller on it and also has 4 links between the quick attach plate and the unit so that it can flex and follow the contour of the ground. When I use one for my business I rent from cat. And I really like the cat. It doesn’t flex but that also allows you to be able to shape better I think. At first I wasn’t happy with it but as the day went on I really fell in love with the cat version. When I go to purchase one I will go with cat for it. They are a brute too. I’ve popped so big rocks up with it. I think the more slender roller on the cat may deliver better torque. Really enjoying your videos. Great messages after as well. I’ve been really focused on my business and things have gotten slow. These vids have helped me realize I’ve been putting my business goals ahead of the Father. Time to turn things around and give him first spot. Let him have my cares and worries and focus on him. I’m already getting calls for more work lol. Thanks for another great video. Keep up the good work!

      @@tristardiggin the one at work is an erskine brand. Nice set up but after using the cat I prefer cat. One other thing about the cat is you have to switch direction of the roller to angle the head. With the erskine you don’t have to change roller directions. Works as long as it’s rolling. Again great video!!

    • @tristardiggin
      @tristardiggin  Рік тому +1

      Right, and that is aggravating that the roller won't angle when it's going either way. I saw a Ruckus Rake on Dirt Perfect's channel. I like how it would pivot in the center or you could lock it to a static position. I guess no matter the brand they all do a great job.

      Oh boy! That is one attachment that takes a minute to learn. But when you get the hang of it will do a great job. Forward does a good job and the best benefit of going forward is being able to see. I feel like it churns the ground better and leaves a better finish going backwards. Main thing is spin the drum opposite to the direction you are going. You will love the job it does...

      I’m debating between the 308 and the 306 but I don’t want to have to buy another machine after this so I’m leaning towards the 308 but maybe I am wrong and should go 306

    • @tristardiggin
      @tristardiggin  Рік тому

      The 308 is a great size machine. I have several videos where I'm using mine, if you haven't seen those. What kind of work are you doing? For residential work and medium to small jobs it is great. Small enough to get around houses and businesses and still big enough to do a descent amount of land clearing. Pound for pound it is excellent. I'm interested in trading up to a 313 to be able to do bigger jobs but for now they are so expensive I will stick with the 308. Also, the 308 is big enough to comfortably load dump trucks where the 306 and down struggle with reach. Down side to 308 would be working in yards or sensitive areas. The tracks can really mess up an area in a hurry. So, I use the 304 in sensitive areas around houses and businesses. Depending on work you do the 308 should handle what you can throw at it. If you plan to do forestry mulching or something that needs a lot of hydraulic power the 309 would be better. It has a second hydraulic system just for that reason. Little long winded but if I can help just let me know.
