I’m impressed you managed a 9 minute video on how to breed guppies 😂! I would have been able to mange 20 seconds if that! Add a male and a female, 3 months later u have a billion 😅!
Seems like 3 out of 4 channels do it quite easily just to have the video 10 minutes for monetization. This is just me going through the UA-cam search which also gives totally unrelated videos to guppies and forces a recommendation to unrelated videos to the search of Breeding guppies.
@@RyanStonedonCanadianGaming thats an old thing where youd get a third ad after 10 mins. Doesnt apply now because you can choose to put extra ads regardless of how long it is. I just leave mine on auto
Good video, Blake. I actually put one male per 5 females, especially if the male is really persistent. My females seem to do better if they are not over0chased. I like all of your live plants.
Thanks for your video. What plants would you recommend to use in the tank when you are cranking the temperature up to 28 degrees? Also how much does it shorten the life span? Have also heard that shrimp don't do well if you turn the temperature up?
I you live in the US- Petsmart sells a rosette sword that’s been thriving in my heated guppy tanks. I had to heat them to 80-82 degrees f while treating parasites. They’re dong great & so is my Val. And water sprite does well too.
Thanks for the video. I'm having problems with them over breeding. Lol. But wonder what your thoughts on having mixed guppy strains breeding? Instead of keeping seperate lines, what would be the likely outcome of just having a free for all guppy tank with say 5 or 6 lines of guppies interbreeding. Thanks again for your vids
Youd end up with some healthy guppies but a mixture of all sorts of things and following generations would breed less and less true. Nothing wrong with it though itd be fun to watch
@BlakesAquatics do you know some factory which makes aquarium filters? I have one idea for outside air aquarium filter (which I have never seen till now) which I would like to see alive.
How i had sucsess with my baby guppies and platies is i feed small amounts of crushed flakes 3 times a day, i always keep a small piece of cooked carot i use caned carots and once or twice a day i feed my homade fish food paste the ingredients is carots, green beans, egg shells, turtle sticks, one pinch of fish flakes and brine shrimp if on hand and add a little water make sure not to add to much water or wont work i blend evrything in a blender till looks like thick goop i let sit in frige for a couple hours then i feed a small amount once a day this recipe makes a lot so if your not breeding a lot of fish i recomend reducing evrything i mesured most in 1/4cups and ended up with to much for my fish so i freeze the rest for my adult fish and snails. Note i always have a small about of food in the tank laying around because baby fish eat all day long to kill ypur baby fish is not feeding enough thats why i always provide a pice of carot so if they get hungry they dont have to wait for me to feed they will always have food to munch on. I clean my breeder box once a week and do water changes once or twice a week in my 20 gallon tank empty half the water with 6 adult fish, 10 baby fish and 14 mystery snails and i rinse off my filter once or twice a month but i never clean the filter the same day as my weekly water changes because the filter is whats running your tank with beneficial bacteria and keeping your fish alive. If anyone hss any other question feel free to ask me this is just my personal exsperiance with raiding guppies plattys and mystery snails
currently have 13 guppies in my small 20 litre tank that i got off my mate so there home bred aswell im trying to breed for to feed my oscar fish, are live plants cruicial? i have some fake plastic ones they can semi hide in but im scared the fry are just getting eaten because i have had a few little ones over the past month iv had them but defienetely not 20-30 per batch. (havent seen them breed yet) please gimme some tips :)
@BlakesAquatics what do you think of a singular dwarf crayfish? Just spitballing for a good way to take care of a stray dead guppy or two in a 100+ gallon scenario
IMO most guppy keepers fail because they do not know how genetics work or how to maintain traits/lines. They assume they need as many mixed genetics as possible to have a "good" fish. Inbreeding is not the issue, that's how we got specific strains, it's breeding genetically weak fish(set and forget) that becomes the issue.
That's why I bought Brian Chins book and the blue-green Moscows he uses throughout. I am going to walk the path of a master, compete at a few shows and then start getting creative on my own. There are several traits I want to select for in my endlers, like the huge dorsal fin and pastel metallics. Thankfully liquid rock flows from my taps already.😊
Actually, I find that the boy guppies in my bachelor tank actually LOVE to play/chase each other. It keeps them physically fit and they don't get depressed. They are very playful.

🤣 true but many try that and fail or produce some super weak fish over time

We have 2 tanks full of guppies, in the 10 and 29 gallons.
Great to see this Blake! I haven't seen a video from you in a while. Best wishes
Glad to have you back 😄 have still been uploading every Friday

Thinking of getting a nice guppy strain to throw in with my new (3days ago) L397 colony. Great timing on you vids as always bud 🙏
A very good clear straight forward video thanks for sharing
🔥 great vid, great info💪 ✌️♥️
Thanks legend ✌️❤️
Love the scape. I’ve found shrimp and Plecos to be great tank mates
Absolutely!
@@BlakesAquatics Hi Blake,
What's that little food tablet you feed the guppies with?
@@kempowarrior its a bioscape insectivore tab
I've got cardinals and zebra's in with mine, still get hundreds of guppies!

shrimp dont do well at high temps no. life expectancy of around 1 to 2 years. valisneria is a very hardy plant that is a good choice

@@BlakesAquatics ty man for your answer
What are those shrimps for?
What is the food which sticks to the glass mate
Bioscape insectivore fd tabs 👍
What do you use to worm guppies?
What do you feed them?
The red circle is an fd tab by bioscape
How big a tank would tou suggest to start the breeding process?
You could start with a 20L or 40L but may as well just start with 60 i reckon 😄

Morning mate!
is it recommended to have some CRAYFISH with your 55 gal guppy tank... to eat the dead ones.
Nah theyll cause more dramas than benefits
@BlakesAquatics what do you think of a singular dwarf crayfish? Just spitballing for a good way to take care of a stray dead guppy or two in a 100+ gallon scenario
Probably still will cut up any love plants and do a bit of that sort of stuff. Dwarf is a better option that a normal crayfish/ yabbie
How long have you been breeding guppies?
Great! Now what to do with them all!?
Get an oscar or something as a pet 😄

What type of guppies are you showing here?
The ones at the start? Its a line developed by a subscriber of mine so it doesnt have a retail name. I call them apricot guppies 👍
I feel bad for the guppies stuck in a bachelor tank chasing each other.

Put a male and a female in the tank, always worked for me 😂
🤣
Mine bread like crazy, but I'd get 95% females to 5% males. Why?
Temperature does affect the m:f ratio. Try bumping up a few degrees

guppys and endler are different species.
Yes i say that at the start
Feed them, clean the aquarium when needed.
They overbreed on their own
