@@AquariumCoop hey Cory, I’ve had this idea of doing guppies and then only female mollies in a 20 gallon long. Do you think that due to keeping the mollies female only, that they won’t be hostile towards the guppies? Or will I still run into issues? I plan to keep it planted, mainly with jungle Val plus driftwood and river stone.
I’ve been into fish a while now but this video may have helped my daughter be more interested in the guppies she has. With any luck she will get that long term goal of seeing them grow up-seeing the fruits of her labors. Kids are all about the instant gratification anymore.
Loved this! Also, completely unrelated, my humpbacked limias slowly whittle away on algae too. Not as much as a rosy barb or a molly, but I brought in my algae covered filter from my pond and threw it in their tank, and over the next few weeks they picked it clean.
Great content! Selecting for traits can be challenging, but it's definitely rewarding. I’ve found that focusing on one trait at a time makes it easier to work toward your goal and helps make progress more attainable. Have you thought about making a video on the different resources available to learn about guppy traits? I think it would be really helpful!
I have been waiting for this video…thank you so much! I started out with 3 females (no males!) last November and now have over 100 in 1 10 gallon, 2 29 gallon, and 2 3 gallon (for fry) tanks. Please keep this series going - I will watch! 🤓
Wow, I see where you have more than a million subscribers now. That is awesome, congratulations. This shows that you can make it but just being nice and sharing your knowledge, experience and journey. I've learned a lot from your videos. Thank you.
Awesome video Cory! Well done! You nailed it with feeding. My guppies love to eat so I feed a lot. They will mouth everything in the tank until it’s all gone. Including some algae.
When I had a guppy colony, I crushed up NLS flakes and crushed some mbuna pellets by Ron’s and mixed it all up and that worked great. I had jungle Val and water hyacinth with Argonite substrate.
Agreed! There are so few videos dedicated to (wild-type, full color) endlers, and the few who put effort into it are very nitpicky about what should be called an endler and what shouldn't be called an endler.
Im going to try to implement the tips you gave been having a hard time with guppies I get them to Breed the moms die the baby's grow up to show color then pass away as well along with the dads. Im thinking it's the ph and hardness because I use bought spring water for water changes
It is very important to have LOTS of live plants for the females when they have their babies. Also, females like another female or two in the tank. No males at birthing time. I put the males together in another tank. I feed the pregnant fIemales a lot in smaller amount during the day. Plus, all guppies like plenty of sleep time. I try not to startle them with instant bright light by using a soft light nearby to start with. I find guppies to be very sensitive. Mine know my face. Often, the females will wait til I am present with the food to start having their babies. Eating their granules seems to help their giving birth. I feed their girl roommates in another part of the tank so they will leave Mama some privacy. Amazing fish.
Good day im james from South Africa i did start with guppies now for 8 mouths now but i will love to get some stuff for my tank if you guys have for me will appreciate it alot
7:30 so you don't follow the instructions on the box, you just wait two weeks between each dose? Wondering why the box says to do it one way while you suggest to do it another way?
My last guppy just died and he was just about five years old. I got a bunch when I moved into my home, and they have been living with my water turtle the whole time. They boomed to about 60ish in numbers at their peak two years ago with the CPD's and cory's. My cory's are ten + and just spawned. I don't know if I should get more guppies, it's so sad seeing the tank empty of them.
Hi Cory, I have a female guppy that is very very big for a guppy. I believe you’re looking into monster guppies? I would love to show you mine next to a ruler for good comparison, how do I send a photo directly to you?
I have sort of a mental block/anxiety when it comes to guppies, heard too many stories of how they overpopulate and are hard to manage without aggressive culling. Ive since only been keeping males, but realistically how much of an issue is overbreeding?
@@AltarenGalil Look if you have adult fish, they do eat some of the tiny babies. unless you save them or have lots of hiding spots. There is a possibility they could over breed. i wouldn't be able to cull them. So I keep my males and females seperate for the most part.
Overbreeding can be a big issue. I bred guppies for about 1.5 years and, for me, it was a nightmare. The babies would hide in the plants so they were harder for the adults to find and eat and I didn't have the heart to cull them. I started off with a few in a 10 gallon tank. By the time all was said and done I was running 4 10 gallon tanks and they were all overpopulated. I wouldn't do it again but watching the mother give birth to live little babies was super cool.
My bro tip if you do guppies don’t do them indoors . Do them in outside just like more of the pros do . Free food all day for them the fry grow faster than even in being in a fry rack . I did guppies and live bearers inside but not anymore only outdoors in the heat

Guppies are one of my favorites. I am always learning from them, about them. I actually try for about 5 females to one male when breeding. USA

Love these kinds of videos

Nice video. Why do guppies get all the spotlight when Endlers are more colourful and hardier? I wish more videos were exclusively devoted to Endlers.
If you get guppies and they revert you’ll get both 😂
@@missyflutter5562 How can you get Endlers to revert to Guppies when they separate species?😂
Cus most prefer guppies than endlers obviously.. matter of choice I guess

The best guppies I've grown were the rainbow tiger skin guppies, came from a tiger endler and a blonde female
