I can't believe I found this.... Wow I think I love Green Day even more now!!!! I just love the fact that they respect the classics. I even loved when they covered "Working Class Hero". It was awesome~!
Dylan forever, but you can't deny they did a great job, it's not hard to sing and Billy Joe did an awesome job plus the keyboards give the mojo - AWESOME!
To all of those asking: this is originally from the iTunes deluxe edition of "21st Century Breakdown" that you had to pre-order. I believe it's now available on the Green Day Collection, also on iTunes, which includes each and every one of their released songs.
they revived on eoff the best songs of all time, showing younger generation classic music. They dont try to outclass dylan they just bring an ode to him.
I would've never gotten into Bob Dylan if it wasn't for Green Day. I ended up buying Highway 61 Revisted and The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan on vinyl after hearing them on Rdio. Both Awesome LPs!
+Ali Wardhana I would have never gotten into grateful dead music if not for the tv show freaks and geeks!! Funny how accidents or incidents happen. Awesome cover by greenday.
Let Green Day show how to cover a song properly. A good song, a good job by green day. Best band ever. If you're gonna do it, do it properly, that's what i say. That's certainly what these guys have done. ROCK ON... It is the sort of song that Billie Joe would write too, thats probably why he covered it. LOVE GREEN DAY.
Growing up I always loved green day. they were my favorite band when I was 12. and as I got older I really got into the classics. Like the doors, janis joplin, jimi hendrix, and of course bob dylan. And when I saw green day covered this I was a bit nervous to hear it. But this cover is decent. Its not bob dylan but its good. And they paid the respects to a great artist. Its better than their cover of closing time
Bob Dylan's voice and intensity make this song not ever get boring and what it is. This version isn't terrible compared to most covers, but it just seems to drag on
I like the way they really pushed that distinctive organ riff up...Al Kooper tells a great story in No Direction Home about that session and how he "wound up" the organ player! He seems like a cool guy (Al Kooper).
Quando você ouvi Billy Joy cantando Bob Dylan com o Green Day, você compreende porque o Green Day está aí até hoje sendo uma das bandas mais respeitadas do mundo do rock and roll. Se eu estiver errado alguém que me corrija por gentileza.
I think when a well established band like Green Day perform a cover song that this is a big salute to the orginal artist(s) I also liked their cover "I Fought the Law" and "Knocking on Heaven's Door"
I've just heard this song on virgin radio and i didn't know that green day had covered it! I was like, "I know this voice... OH SHIT! It's Billie Joe!!" lol. awesome.
Bob Dylan's original is good n all, n I cant deny that he's one hella good musician, but I just cant handle his voice. This cover on the other hand, gives me the chillzzzzz. nice cover
Green Day are always the best in making covers. I'm not saying their versions are better than the originals, of course. I really like Bj's voice in this one, the way he screams "how does it feel?" :3
I agree. Every time I listen to covers to Bob Dylan's music, I always say to myself, "Something's missing." I mean, by modern standards, there are tons of other people who have "better" voices than Dylan, more powerful, smoother, reaching higher and lower notes. But what makes him so great is that he reaches into his music and puts everything into it, more than any other artist. I like his voice, but what is always missing from the covers is not a better voice, it's a Dylan's voice of truth.
Insane. I thought I've found every green day cover ever..I thought I new most of the songs they've done..and come to find out my favorite band of this time period did a cover of my favorite artists of a different time period. Awesome. Nothing beats the original, but nonetheless, this cover is great.
Exactly true! I've never felt that a cover brings with it the intensity the original had, especially with Bob Dylan songs, even if they are more palatable versions. Hendrix came closest with All Along the Watchtower... but as I've always seen it, nobody hits as deep as Dylan does.
I'm glad they covered this song. these days, More people tend to listen to Green day rather tan Bob Dylan. They just brought the attention to Bob Dylan.
Great! This song was absolutly great when I first heard it when Dylan first recorded it, and Green Day has done another fabulous piece of work upgrading a masterpiece in their own style, just like they did with John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" Unsensored.
Even the music is so much better. In Bob's songs instruments fill the composition and seem the chase each other. He was a genius and had a great band too.
Many of Bob Dylan's songs have been made better by others covering them, because just like Bob Dylan will concede, he's not the best vocalist in the world and never was. Hey Joe, All Along The Watchtower, Knocking on Heavens Door - to name a few of his most mainstream songs - these have all been made better by people covering them. Like a Rolling Stone, however, is yet to be covered and be more superior than the original. This version is completely detached from the original and is its own thing... But I think it's very well done.
Spontaneous Feet Since when has All Along The Watchtower been a mainstream Bob Dylan song? And when did he do Hey Joe? Also, i disagree that people can make his songs better just because they're 'better' vocalists. Bob has the sort of emotion in his voice that people can't match - Knockin on Heaven's Door to name one. Personally, i think All along the watchtower is the only one that's been covered better, most just add stupid crap that overcrowds it to make it harder to hear/focus on the lyrics
Connor O'Reilly I think we've forgotten a little thing called subjectivity. Though, what I will say is, I don't think Bob Dylan ever recorded Hey Joe, I was just thinking of Hendrix at the time of that comment.
The song is awesome, it makes that evry well cover, be good, it doesn't matter who is the singer or band. Genious? Bob Dylan for making the song, but all the others too for knowing how to make a good cover without killing the song.
It both respects the essence of the original song and is played in their own style. Its awesome, its perfect.
Guido Balbiano yes! Exactly what I hoped for.
@@MsLocavore Dylan has been Honored by this effort!!! Its perfect!!! When a band does this (their way) it drives it home all the more
Actually better than I'd expected.
yeah.Green day nails every cover they make.I faught the law,Hybrid moments...they're just plain awesome
I don't really know them for their covers
Coach Cro a quick one while he’s away, tired of waiting
Dude, Green Day shared this on Twitter!
Never knew this even existed.
pinkfloydfannn same
+AnotherTeenMom go poop out another baby
Eric Jensen I'd rather pee out my butt
This is one of the best covers I've ever heard. Makes me want to dance. Give Green Day some credit. They took on a Dylan song and didn't ruin it.
I’ve never heard a decent cover of this song!Still haven’t!😂
Awesome!!!! More of a bob fan. Accidentally came across this. Would have loved to see this in person.
not many artists can do a dylan cover, you blokes nailed it
Best cover of Bob Dylan's song yet... even GnR couldn't match this energy of this cover by Greenday.
That's because GnR are fucking garbage
What about jimi Hendrix??
nah man Jimi hendrix is where its at
+Tyler Guinto jimi is king
did you forget about Jimi?
A great cover of one of the greatest songs ever written; and it is not even on Spotify!!! :-(
Es que al parecer no la llegaron a publicar
AMAZING SONG, AMAZING COVER. I love Green Day :)
Nobody sings Dylan like Dylan.
But, I will say, that I was surprised to find this cover to be better than any other cover of the song.
Came across this by accident and so glad I did. Best version I've ever heard. I am surprised how much I like it.
I love Green Day, but did not think they could pull off Dylan, but I'm glad I'm wrong because this is actually a pretty solid cover!
i'm also a Dylan's fan, but they did great it's pretty cool
All time class songwriter and performer..a life long Dylan fan
I can't believe I found this.... Wow I think I love Green Day even more now!!!!
I just love the fact that they respect the classics. I even loved when they covered "Working Class Hero". It was awesome~!
At least they recognize the greatest song ever made.
i don't care if a green day song is original or not... these guys, just, ALWAYS, sound... so good!!!! (and, yeah, this one in particular.)....
Me gusta esta versión!
WoW ! Never heard this Version, Absolutely Fantastic !!!
WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN TO THIS BEFORE?

Wow...22 weeks later and that's the best comeback you can manage...sad.
Colin Braddock Oh yeah? You would know.
This should be on Spotify -.-
i come here because that
So do I haha
WOW! Never thought GreenDay would cover this classic, PROPS BRO's!

This is actually a decent cover, rather surprised
WOW!!! They did a great job on this amazing Dylan song!!! I wish this was released on an album.
they revived on eoff the best songs of all time, showing younger generation classic music. They dont try to outclass dylan they just bring an ode to him.
fucking awesome.. this band grew up so well.

My favourite song of all time.
Forever my favorite song.

I just discovered this song today. And discovered one of my favorite bands covered it.
I wish I was so young
If we can't have the original on UA-cam, I'll sure take this version!
Love it and I was there in 1965. It's cool and energetic.
Thank you Green day for this amazing cover. It is just fucking amazing. Cheers !
this version is perfectly AWSOME & GREAT, thanks for sharing
Dylan, Stones, Hendrix, Green Day..... All the versions are fcking incredible!!! the soul and spirit of the song its AMAZING! Cheers for all of them!
Green Day always surprises me!
OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! I love this Green Day does the Best at Remaking songs from other groups!!!!
other artists....Bob Dylan is not a group
Excelente....como un Rolling Stone

:O This is incredible! I love Billie Joe's voice. :)
When I heard the Green Day did a cover I was disappointed. This is MUCH better than I expected.
Hello you there Dion Tillman here love sad songs that keep me held down, long time ago I was homeless 😢😭🙃
This is . . . surprisingly good.
Both versions are great in their own way.
If I were Bod Dylan, I would be mighty proud of this interpretation.
I fucking wouldn't.
Completely redundant.
Green Day just earned some points in my books, pretty cool cover!
i like this cover! i love billie's voice!
Who is biillie?
Is too much better than the Bob Dylan original voice, Sad but True xD

It's great when talented young kids cover the classics.
this is the best version of this song.....Green Day is best when it comes to covers...:)
I adore this cover. Billie Joe and the boys kick it! I have to say it is the best cover, ever.

Excellente reprise de Mister Dylan ! Great Cover !!

Can't. Stop. Listening.
Really cool punk version of Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan.
He is transcendent and beautiful
A good song + somebody that can ACTUALLY SING. No offense Dylan. You are king.
Dylan's vocals only really work for a couple albums. I'm a diehard fan of his, but his voice could have been better in some songs
But not singing well is so much more punk... oh yeah, this was Green Day's emo era... ugh.
Bob Dylan could both play and smoke the harmonica at the same time:)
Even the music is so much better. In Bob's songs instruments fill the composition and seem the chase each other. He was a genius and had a great band too.
I like this version.
I like any version tbh.
Great song.
I prefer this version
No way man. Original is better
