We all wanted to play like him. Buying a 2nd or 3rd LP because we ruined the first ones by moving the needle back to try and play "that lick". When it comes to influencing and affecting rock music, Jeff Beck did indeed move the needle.
Heard this rendition on an episode of one my fav shows Californication and was blown away. Loved it so much that it learned it on guitar also, original and this version are amazing.
For some reason, if you listen to this song on songza, at the end of the song, you can hear James Hetfeild of Metallica say "We are Metallica and this is what we do" Im not sure why this is in there and it is confusing the hell out of me
Honestly love this version. It’s simultaneously a testament to how incredible the Beatles were and how searingly brilliant Jeff was. EXPLETIVE! Would have freaked out to see this in concert! Bless you forever JB❤
For anyone interested. The picture in this song is wrong. This song was originally released on the album "In My Life" by George Martin (who produced the Beatles.) It was a collection of cover songs of the Beatles. Including songs by Sean Connery and Robin Williams. It's an amazing album!
Hay momentos en que una cancion habla por ti, esta es una de esas, cada nota llega a mi corazon haciéndolo desgarrar del existencialismo absurdo al que vivimos. Gracias por tan hermosas notas una a una llenan mi alma.
If I don't like anything it's that all there is is a photo how about a collage - when I made videos on here I gave people something to look at (so lol what I'm saying is don't jump to conclusions)
This is a track from George Martin’s 1998 album featuring such diverse artists as Robin Williams/Bobby McFerrin on “Come Together”, Billy Connolly on “For the Benefit of Mr Kite” and Sean Connery on the title track, “In My Life”.
Masterpiece ! wow what an awesome piece of music , it seems Jeff is narrating God's word through his music. by the way thanks for sharing it, I really enjoyed it.
The Guitar speaks feels flows with expression it wraps the note in a hug.. like BB King did bonding with us all it feeds happy thoughts sheds a tear in a manner that you could see if Beethoven had amplified El Greco the art would have been Beck.
For so long, I wanted to be able to play whatever I felt, on the guitar. Eventually, I realized that I wanted to sing through the guitar as my voice. I initially tried to play as Janis and failed, but not without a huge amount of knowledge and understanding gained. This guy is a giant. Jeff is bigger than any mountain. I wish I had a tremolo bar... or at least the control of the volume and tone knobs as dynamically as his.
Hey Jeff . . . if you're listening . . . I was inspired to learn the guitar after hearing you in the YardBirds (Over Under Sideways Down). I actually met after a BB King gig in NYC and told you as much. Here's my kudos to you, man I am so grateful. And yes, I stole this from you! I hope you're cool with it.
As your name suggests I assume your born in 1992, you're probably not even 25 years old... So don't feel sorry for yourself, your just at the start. If yesterday didn't work out for you, well to bad but it's not important because it's about tomorrow. As long as you Learn from your and (other people) mistakes. Set your eyes on new goals, they don't have to be big to be a good person. Life is what you make of it.
not your fault, big corporations are fucking everybody over. its all related, im not some crazy-theorist, im just aware of whats happening (to some extent)
Came here from Californication. It's played during the murder/suicide attempt. I knew it was Day in the Life, didn't know it was Jeff Beck but not surprised. I said wow I have to find that song. Thank you so much for uploading.
FUCK YES OMG HOW DID YOU GET THIS? I loved this solo as soon as I heard it in the movie, thank you! (I even went out and bought the deluxe soundtrack, but my copy didnt have this track)
Fantastic, Would love to hear Jeff Beck and Mark Knopfler do some Beatle covers together. Sounds very reminiscent in the beginning of "Brothers in Arms."
While I absolutely adore Jeff Beck's instrumental rendition, as well as the decision to use it in the film, part of me really wishes they would've done a full cover with the film talent. Jim Sturgess doing the dream sequence part, Joe Anderson doing the "awake" section, and Martin Luther McCoy on guitar would've been a masterpiece I'm sure.
Well, I guess I have to listen to much of Jeff Beck. Only knew him from YARDBIRDS & as Guest Star on Live Concerts from other Musicians up to now. Seems there's quite some stuff to get acquainted with ...
This is just so... majestic. Is that even the right word?. But the drumming lacks any feel at all. Starrs work on this song was as theatrical and moody as the whole premise of the song...and this doesnt have that at all. For my next trick I will critique Beethovens 9th symphony, explaining why it was sometimes played too loud.
A fair amount of gain on a combination of Martshall and Fender amps, treble rolled off on the pickup, variable dynamic finger attack, no compression needed...he articulates the melody with a unique touch
beck's amplifiers are handbuilt--he gets stock amps and pays an amp tech to hot rod the shit out of them until they sound like his tone. He doesn't use compression (you can tell because when he plays he uses his volume knob constantly, and compression would make that useless) and there is a large amount of gain that he can control with the volume knobs on his guitar as well.
Fantastic version of a brilliant song. RIP Jeff Beck. You were as good as gets.
In a strange way he really was the quintessential rock guitarist. He had peers and those peers all looked up to him.
Buen viaje Mr. Beck, se agradece su gran aporte musical y su constante búsqueda expresiva.
Amazing ! 😍
Amazing! Greetings from Brazil!
this dude.....damnit .....he's good
Jeff even influenced Hendix to some degree.
Superb!!

The Last song that Jeff Beck played in his last concert on October 1, 2022
R.I.P Jeff Beck

@@geraldwright9841 lol what? Which lick? What mod to do it?
That’s not his last concert - last concert was in November and the last song he played live was Death and Resurrection Show
When your so good that you don’t need lyrics.
burkey426 or a slide.
his guitar just gently weeps.
Saw him as a teenager, sadly it took almost a decade to really appreciate his talent
@@dondoles4126 saw him live too. Never saw someone so intimate with the guitar 🎸
@@kennybluet5527First time I heard this, I thought "is that Derek Trucks"? Could've sworn it was slide
Woke up, got outta bed, had this song stuck in my head.
Quite a nice way to have your day go well;-)

RIP Jeff Beck one of the best to ever pick up a 6 string 🙏🎸🤘🏻
Rest in peace Jeff, never to be forgotten
An amazing rendition...I love the original, but this is like candy for the ears.
Heard this rendition on an episode of one my fav shows Californication and was blown away. Loved it so much that it learned it on guitar also, original and this version are amazing.
Impossible to not cry...awesomeness !!!
So true 💯
This is better then all the versions on Spotify...
I was just looking for this version on Spotify :-( don’t understand why it isn’t there.
@@cannesbrianna this, I’m trying to find it everywhere
One of the best songs ever written, and this particular interpretation is genuinely awe-inspiring.
Killer song but the live version is so much better. Its like youre sitting in his living room with him while he jams
It’s the best Beatles cover ever
For some reason, if you listen to this song on songza, at the end of the song, you can hear James Hetfeild of Metallica say "We are Metallica and this is what we do" Im not sure why this is in there and it is confusing the hell out of me

produced by George Martin as well

when i feel sad and down , i always come back to this song
I wish this song was on the soundtrack.....it isnt :/
Maybe the greatest cover song I've ever heard. Beck is a god on guitar
Absolutely love this version. He could really make that guitar sing!
I could have sworn this was slide guitar the first time I heard it...
@@ChrsGuit right? That’s part of why he was so good! His playing was so melodic and soulful.

Does anyone know where I can find this song to buy it? Or which one it is because Beck plays it differently everytime.
For so long, I wanted to be able to play whatever I felt, on the guitar. Eventually, I realized that I wanted to sing through the guitar as my voice. And also keep the guitar in tune while using the tremelo bar

2018 Winter Olympics. North Koreans Ryom/Kim skating to the Beatles (THE BEATLES!!, NORTH KOREA) A DAY IN THE LIFE as played by Jeff Beck.
the tone is accomplished by using a little compression and some gain, no?
Matthew Delgado That, and Mr. Becks amazing use of picking technique, is probably what gets the tone
finger picking and a lot of whammy bar.
