  • Today was a interesting day. I didn't catch any giants, but put together a solid day that I was proud of. In the Everglades, exploring new spots can feel overwhelming, with the thousands of acres of fishing accessible. Days like this teach me more about this amazing ecosystem and it is never a bad day catching snook in the Glades!

    Interesting and well done as usual. Most right handed people wind conventional reels with their predominant hand. Wish you'd wear a PFD in your fishing adventures.

      I am more comfortable with the left hand for some reason. Thanks!

    🌴 hey Chris, great vid as always , yea trying to get the big ones to chomp is always a bit frustrating, ya always end up trying to figure out did I do something wrong , or the what if ? It seems that you try everything you’ve learned but yet the magic doesn’t happen, I guess it’s the trial by error thing that keeps us going after them , but like I’ve seen over my many years when you do finally hook a monster it makes it so rewarding, hummm, it’s like the same watching your channel I watch other channels and it’s like missing fish and your channel is getting real close to that monster fish 👍🏼 keep up the good work !

    Love BullBay rods, they’re customer service is pretty good and should replace. Seems like you’re getting the hang of the bait caster. Hope that thing last long enough to get some more good content. Keep up the great videos!

    Such an awesome video! When setting the hook using a baitcaster, try setting the hook with the rod in the 12oclock position versus the 9oclock or 10oclock like a spinning rod. You can get better hook penetration doing that…Just food for thought🙌🏼. Sucks breaking a rod. I know BullBay will take care of you❤

      Setting the hook at 9 or 12 will have a higher likelihood to pull the lure right ourtof a sporty fishes mouth. Not sure why some people do the dramatic 12 o'clock high stick and point that rod straight up.

      @ When using a bait casting rod, setting the hook in the 11 o’clock to 12 o’clock or even the 1 o’clock position is fine. Depending on the lure being used.

    Was at rodgers river chickee last weekend and caught ice cubes mainly. Was difficult finding fish honestly with negative tide and 40 degree weather. Was also around broad river at the mouth to the gulf but man was the water dirty. Tons of bass and gar around cabbage island. Wanting to get back out there asap to find some better fish.

    Watched a lot of your videos, I’m always curious what test line lb do you typical use to catch all those snook?

    • @christian_masterson
      @christian_masterson  2 дні тому +1

      Usually 10-15 for braid. 30 pound leader closer to home, 40 in the Everglades

      @ that’s awesome man I’ve heard a lot of people catching snook on 10-15lb braid with heavier leader. I just got a ballistic mq 2500 plaining on running that line set up with it, and heading out to the glades to catch some snook. Keep making vids man
