I actually experimented with khaara on live specimens, let me explain: I built an aquarium and put 4 healthy fish in it. Then, I got one infected fish and put it in. The other fish got infected and I was impressd that they would implement that. But then I got another idea and put in the enzyme peeper. It actually cured the other fish, and I was even able to scan the cured fish and find out a little info about enzyme 42. It's amazing how much work the devs put into this game.
"So don't judge a book by its cover, because even a small fish with a giant eye might just end up saving an entire planet's ecosystem" - Albert Einstein, 1931
mynameisnotdave23 Well while the Peeper’s evolutionary family is dominant among the small herbivores of 4546B, their size is a serious limitation to their capacity for intelligence.
One time, I caught a keeper so I could put it in my alien containment center, and there was a pre looking trail that came from its tqil, so I kept on saying '' Stop peeing! "
i dont know if anyone tried but i thing infection isnt killing the player like you said its not much a threat. That might be because of some players (like me) is wandering around too much to get in line of the actual story and if they died of infection it would make the game probably unplayable. But yea it would be a good little touch
i once accidentally thought about how their eyes are so huge that there could possibly be two, but only one eye. since then i have this image in my head that it is one singular eye (similar to the eye eye) with pupils on each side.
Ooh! So that explains why I saw one of thise vents in a kelp forest, and it kept spitting out Peepers! I thought those poor guys just got pulled into a mixer, haha.
Place grav traps on the vents. I got so many peepers and placed them all in a aquarium. It was enough to slow the game when I was close (55-60 peepers)
I theorise that the peeper has only one eye, which basically has two irises and allows for a somewhat 360 degree sight so it can avoid ambush. Also I think the reason why peepers go spreading enzymes was because some infected Peepers escaped into the vents while trying to get away from a predator and stumbled upon the enzymes, which cured them from the Kharaa. Later the symptoms came back and with the knowledge that something in there cured them, they came back for the enzymes, which spread it around when they left.
i think the oculus is the peeper but purple and without a beak and also weirdly its bigger than the normal peeper. thats also why i thought there would be more species of peepers. sadly, no lava peepers exist and no other peepers are on subnautica. HOWEVER there will be a arctic peeper in subnautica below zero.
Yep, it is actually really cool how the developers purposefully made some fish resemble the peeper and then actually add the lore of a common ancestor - it's also a neat way to save on resources :)
Yeah It is explained in the PDA that the Oculus might have evolved from some peepers who were seperated from their group and were stuck in a cave biome and had to adapt

the other day I found a time capsule with a peeper named Fred in it apparently the former owner lost his cuttlefish, so he adopted fred I will carry on its legacy
The first time I saw a peeper go into an air vent, I was so sad because I thought it had gotten chopped up by fan blades or something and died. I was really happy when I learned they intentionally went in there to gather the enzyme and keep the planet alive
I wouldn't think it would hurt them. It even says that their stress level are really natural, low even, when going through them. That said, placing grav traps on the vents gets you a whole lot of peepers...
An alpha peeper should have been one ginormous, ever-unblinking yellow eye, that stares at you from far past the void if you swim out far enough. And maybe if you swim further out you'd be able to see it's equally proportionally sized silhouette outlined
The peepers don't move their eyes, static in the skull.
