i dont mean to be the embodiment of the nerd emoji, but the ibm 7094 was made in 1962, and when Miku was released in 2007, she was canonically 16, meaning that ibm wouldve been 29, and even though people had children younger back then, its still entirely possible and even makes more sense.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt Miku's story something about she came from a future with no music? So now she sings to spread her love of it? Cause if that's the case, it had me thinking that she got the goal from IBM a bit as well, or was inspired by him. IBM was a tool for scientists, he worked on space travel and even some military stuff. He never sang for fans, he didn't have any, he sung for the sake of singing.

you can reasonably synthesize a human voice with as little as three sine waves, surprisingly. all sounds are made up of simple sine waves, per the fourier theorem, and you can mimick most sounds quite accurately with a bank of 12 or so sine wave oscillators, and can get a rough approximation with just a few (source; currently doing my masters on audio tech and resynthesis is a big part of it)

Somehow the IBM 7094 is better than the Hatsune Miku. 83 years sine it first spoke and sang, but still kills it when put up against the newer stuff. Vocoder as well.
1. IBM 7094 is about 60 years. 1960 was not 83 years ago.
2. The IBM would be recorded with the best quality things at the time. Miku's voice is probably just a 64/128kbps recording made in less than a day.
