- 2 night rain camp with Bruce by a very loud river. We stayed in the Hilleberg Staika tent under the 3F UL Gear 4x3m tarp. Had some delicious food and sat in front of a very hot campfire. Had to snuggle together under the wool blanket though on the last morning. Oh, and I almost lost my firewood in the river!

People want rain camping because it's peaceful. Lots of people dealing with depression, job and/or home stresses, financial stresses. And rain provides that much needed tranquility; it takes you away in the moment. Rain is hypnotic. But not to short yourself>>>without you in with that rain, it might be much different. You navigate your videos so well. You chat some, smoke and relax some, and just listen with us to the rain some. I love it when you do your Beer cheers. You balance everything so well. I think this is why people are so drawn to you. Your gear is quality; your food is quality; your conversation is nice, but Bruce is the star :))). Gotta love that Bruce. I love that dog.

I know I'm a bit late chiming in on this but here's my thoughts. Camping in precipitation (rain or snow) presents challenges as well as extra ambiance you can't get with fair-weather camping. One of the things that drew me and keeps me camping is working with the challenges to be comfy, dry, well-fed and generally content enjoying nature. Rain and snow create different challenges that we enjoy watching your methods to co-exist AND enjoy yourself completely in the process. Thanks for all you (and Brucie) do Tony!
The sound of rain is an immediate de-stressor!! It is so soothing! I have always loved the sound of rain. But camping in the woods adds another wonderful dimension!!! Thanks for giving us peeks into your life. And please, always have Brucie with you!! Love that dog!!!
For me, there is something deeply satisfying to be out in the elements and be fully protected, enjoying a nice meal and a lovely fire. The ASMR elements of hearing the rainfall is also an added benefit.

Sound of rain hitting the tarp is an amazing sound, makes you feel so comfy, and warm and just cozy as anything, the parts of these videos with passive rain noise in the background will always be my favourite for sure

The sound of rain is soothing. And some people love to watch you challenge the rain. Bruce is adorable. Grapes are very toxic for dogs, even one! I love keeping track of him with his light at night. I love to watch the two of you guys together.
I fed my dog a grape once and he threw up an hour later. Luckily he managed to get it out.

I can always sleep really well on rainy days back home in Ohio but here in Cali it rarely rains.
And rain is a pain which drowns the drains.
Keeps raining evertime I camp. Yes, I sleep like a baby 10+ hours. We took the muddy tent and threw it directly in the dumpster upon leaving last time, lol. It leaked anyway.

Omg, Bruce was so adorable at the end with his stick. Those intelligent little eyes and the fact that he was happy and didn’t care that he was completely in the way was just adorable. I love watching these videos just because Tony’s voice is really soothing to listen to at night when I’m about to go to sleep but if I catch the video when I wake up, it’s such a thrill to watch Bruce just being himself.

I enjoyed your time camping in the rain and cold. That running water almost sounded like the static noise on the tv when all networks used to end late night! Dating myself🤨. You can’t always please everyone so I think being yourself and original is nice. I like that tent. Camping with luxury is also nice. I’m not into bushcraft much. Thanks for bringing the world along. I'm one hour in and enjoying it very much. First I was surprised at your amount of rain-videos, also snow and the more 'harsh' conditions. Watched a cold one with a snow storm at a tarn (with the GonePro™) last night, also really enjoyed that.
Guess people like the ASMR effect of it, also the easy going mood it sets; you keeping dry/warm, with or without fire, giving snippets of your personal life and cooking while watching Bruce.
Personally I do like dry/sunny vids too, especially if you show some extra scenery, as the NZ scenery is so ultimate. Some more trail in/out scenery would be lovely too ~ but hey, I'm just happy to watch along anyhow! My respect for you going out there no matter what conditions is growing every vid anyhow! Also brings some nice thoughts/insights on gear that way.

Rain on a tent makes you listen to it and without you knowing it you start to relax and your mind is free from everything but the sound of the rain on the tent and then without you even being aware of it you are lulled to sleep because you are so relaxed . Bruce at 1:15 and after was freaking me out with the way he was acting, like he saw something or someone he knew.

I'm from Minnesota , USA. no matter when we plan a summer vacation, it almost always rains! It's nice to see how you handle the various challenges! Tarp first, then tent. Very smart! Love your videos
I like all kinds of camping. When I moved to Eastern Washington State is when I first started using a tarp over my tent because it rains so much in the mountains and I could sit outside the tent and still enjoy the outdoors. I had my tarp set a bit higher and would have a small campfire under the tarp. The sound of rain is relaxing and it is cozy underneath the tarp. Brings back fond memories.

2 weeks ago,I got braces and it's been a nightmare for me to eat,speak or sleep as I'm still getting used to it. Your videos help a lot to feel relaxed and cozy while it's raining and wind speed at 45mph in where I'm at. Thank you for these videos,love it .

You know how to chill with very few things and not many can do that. Dog, rain, tent, food and cigar. You crack me up but I think it is the best thing we all should do...just go in the forest, be part of the nature and chill as though "whatever happens tomorrow let it happen. I'll find out tomorrow, why worry about it now". And for Brucie forest is his wonderland. When I take my dogs to the state parks, they go nuts after squirrels and rabbits and other little creatures coz being in the wild it trigger their hidden wild side where they all came from. Keep posted more....

Reminds me of home..state of Washington..Seattle,where it rains every day ..Growing up my dad would take us up the mountains and camp for 2 weeks at a time in a tent and would rain every day some trips. He was blessed with 2 girls ..0 boys..Still camp ...at 65..its in my blood...smile

We have big water tubs (like livestock troughs) for the dogs to jump into after sheep herding to cool them down. 🙂 Bruce is being a border collie! Lol. ❤️
camp in RAIN! I live in California USA. We get almost no rain in San Diego. Seeing the rain I can almost smell the fresh rain air. Seeing the camping in the rain gives a feeling of safety and joy of having a place to sleep out of the rain. I soooo want to be there and run around in the rain a little before sleeping just a great feeling seeing this. Last you have an excellent voice and show so much attention to Bruce makes me happy {:o]xc

Camping in the rain or snow, for me, is all about hunkering down and making my tent and tarp my cozy little sanctuary. Being in the elements and having that little safe haven. Still love camping in good weather of course, but I think watching a video like this is therapeutic. It's a combination of the sounds of the rain and it makes it feel like I'm just sitting around chatting with a camping buddy

I have lived in the Middle East, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Qatar and Abu Dhabi since 1989 so the sound of rain is so soothing!, I get excited about walking in the rain on vacation in the UK, but it soon wears off, after just an hour or so!
It's overcoming adversity. Conquering the challenges nature throws our way. Then listening to the peaceful rain on the tarp while drifting off to sleep is priceless! Lol.

After many years of watching youtube videos, I have never subscribed to any youtuber before; I even had to set up a youtube account to be able to post this comment. But I did because I wanted to answer your question. You asked why do we like camping in the rain videos instead of camping in good weather. This is important to me because I love camping in the rain, I camp every weekend all summer long, and I love falling asleep to your videos because it is peaceful, tranquil, and I love Bruce. I cant control the weather, so I cant always camp in the rain; but I can control youtube which makes me feel like I'm camping in the rain. Thank you for your videos, they are wonderful.
