- 'Absolutely Nails' is an archive of the hardest, toughest, most fearsome rugby players ever to have taken to the field. The gladiatorial characters beloved by fans. Jacques Burger fought his way (the hard way) to the summit of club rugby. A Namibian international at 3 Rugby World Cups and a Premiership and Heineken Cup winner with Saracens. More than that, one of the most wholehearted men ever to set foot on a rugby field. Enjoy Jacques Burger!

Absolutely love this video dedicated to Jacques, as a South African I have immense respect for this man
My namibia brother. Played lock in the 2001 Windhoek High School Team with this legend. We all knew then he would be great!! Surpassed all our expectations
Lovely tribute. Imagine him and Peter-Steph Dutoit in the same team
One of the best tacklers I've ever seen !
Brilliant stuff Tim. You should go visit him on his farm when you come down to this side of the world. Would love to hear how he is doing now and what his best memories are.
Would LOVE to
Yes Tim! Superb. Jacques really did wear his nose on his sleeve. One of the GOATs
Love this. Great work, Tim. And couldn't think of anyone more deserving of this spotlight.
What a guy
Sean O'Brien recalls the biggest tackle he ever shipped:
‘Yer man, Jacques Burger, the lad at Saracens. That [Heineken Cup] game over there, in 2010. It was off a five-man lineout and Johnny just said, “Crash this up.” I did but I ran into him.
‘I remember thinking that every bit of air had come out of me. I went up and went on but I wasn’t going too far. That’s probably the biggest hit I’ve ever had. We met in the middle and the two of us fell down on the ground.’
LOVE that
2 bulls charging into each other !
Brilliant, Tim. The man was an inspiration, so happy he didn't end up in Japan.
Agreed. Was a privilege to watch him
Excellent Egg. I think you made at least 1 mistake, in saying something like: "A player like him" - I have not seen one in the last 48 years.
His Saracens record may be impressive but his work for Namibia was super human. How a man can put in 100% for 80 while losing comfortably just amazed me. He just kept getting up (metaphorically, for the next punch to knock him down again).
He was the best player on the pitch v Ireland in 2007 (v BOD, POC, ROG, D.Wallace, & Hayes, etc.). From then on you could see that minute after minute, game after game, and season after season he put every fibre of his being into the next moment. He deserves full recognition.
Thanks for the excellent content.
Met him the day he played his final game at saracens, genuinely one of the nicest people on the planet. Love this series too, so many players to choose from
Wow! Tim, this tribute gave me goosebumps throughout the entire video!
I had seen Jacques Burger pop up now and then and I never knew much about him, but this... this tribute was class!
Thank you!
Hear!Hear!
Well done, Tim - you knocked it out of the park. Jaques was an awesome force & an absolute joy to watch.
Thanks for watching. What a man!
Glad to see Jacques getting some recognition, he was an absolute machine. Thanks Tim 👌🏻
Incredible bloke as well as rugby player. In fact, an incredible rugby player BECAUSE he's an incredible bloke
Jacques Burger was absolutely indestructible mentally and physically and you did not get a more determined and tougher player than him. He doesn’t need a countless amount of trophies to prove his worth because it is his character that matters most. Thank you Tim for this video!
Off the field he is a gentleman, on the field… well like rassie puts it, wild f…… dog
This channel just makes me fall in love with rugby all over again!
As a kid I had "The Great Rugby World" and now I have Eggchasers❤
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching
Great video and tribute. We Namibians are proud of him and wish him well.
Great tackler and legal unlike a lot of other "hard man". Tough as nails.
When a rugby player should have been nicknamed The Ratel - the Honey badger! Stunning tribute and narrative Tim! Thank you.
He would have done wonders in the Springboks camp. Awesome player
One of my favourite players of all time. His performance against Clermont in the Heineken Cup cemented him as a Saracens legend.
What a coincidence, the premiership youtube channel just released Saracen's final match in 2011.
That's a great series. For a future episode, may I suggest a guy whose size and power dwarfed Wayne Johnson's? The late great Jerry Collins. Among other things, the way he passed showed the kind of guy he was on and off the pitch.
Any signing from Africa is always worth every penny.🔥🔥🔥. Brutal strength.
Bang! Spot on Tim. This makes me a proud Namibian. Though as Nails. Hard soos 'n klip.
Yup, Jacques was a phenomenon on the field. Reminds me of his namesake Schalk Burger. Legendary!
Could you make a video like this about the rugby union scrum? I am so scared that World Rugby will cave under pressure from anti-scrum nations and eventually make the scrum a minor part of rugby union. I write about rugby union intentionally because I don't want to be associated with the rugby league.
Your channel is refreshing I love it.
I had assumed Tim was a "blouse" & so would not understand the scrum (like 80% of the rugby fraternity) !
[Apologies Tim if you were a flanker or even a proper forward - I was not even a good "blouse" so don't mean it as an insult.]
Thank you so much for celebrating a true Citizen from the Land Of The Brave
What a great tribute video to our Namibian brother! Huge respect. Machine! 🇳🇦
Growing up as a flanker in the late 00's, this man was my idol - probably explains the four broken noses
Legend. Reflection of Africa
Magic bro, it works perfectly.
Brilliant video. Used to see him around St Albans quite a bit...byou couldnt miss him because of that hair and nose 😂
Thanks he is from the land of the brave my country Namibia
Played against him and he had no mercy on the field but off the field he was a gentleman.
Amazing video, so glad you’ve highlighted why he was so good
Absolutely yster,as we would say here in Saffaland.....top class Tim.
Ha. love it. What a bloke
Respect tim...that was a propper hard man .
Jacques burger is the rugby idol
Much respect for the respect you show to the game and its players the world over. Keep it up mate. Your success is not by accident.
Thanks for giving credit to the people who make our sport amazing
this is good rugby media, thanks
Namibia is so worth visiting ❤
A brilliant mini biog' of a terrific and fearless rugby player. JB is the epitome of rugby union, and the reason I started to support Saracens... Bravo JB. 🎉
Proper legend down here in Saffaland. The hardest of hard men. Thanks for this.
I regret that I had never visited Namibia. But fortunately, I have been lucky enough to enjoy some of its most wonderful exports. I can attest that Namibia produces the best lagers and the most extraordinarily delicious game biltong on the planet. With tough guys like these amongst their sparse population, it probably all makes sense.
Fantastic celebration of a true rugby man Tim. Good on you for putting this together when most have already forgotten his exploits.
Awesome!! Awesome! Baie geluk Jacques Burger!! Absolutely Nails!!
As a Saffa, i agree... great player!
Taking out Bakkies like that...... 😱
He's as hard as the land he was brought up.
Love it!
Greatest flank of All Time!!!
One of my favourite players EVER
Great video Tim, as always! I used to love watching him and his lookalike Neil Best . . .
You should go visit him when you come to SA… Namibia is insane
N ware legende Sal hy wees. One of the best to have played this game for sure.
TRUTH
And what and awsome channel idea. This will work so well
Keep em coming!!!
What a great tribute!!!
Thank you Tim, as a Sarries fan, that was awesome. I remember that Clermont match so well, what a player.
Thank you for highlighting this incredible player and man
Great tribute. What a machine. Would love to have seen him in a Bok pack with schalk burger ( at 8) and brussow or Juan smit
A brilliant video Tim. Thanks lad. 👊👍
OOOF! Damn the goosebumps from this one!
Great work Tim EC ‼️
🪖
The micro documentary i never knew i needed!
Thanks Tim!
What a tribute, what a man
Great tribute!!!
OOOOOh this is chilling. My skin went all prickly!
Great video thanks alot, from a Bokke fan!
Fantastic video tim. Loved this man.
A BEAST ....
Teams used to genuinely fear this guy, an inevitable nuisance on the pitch
Awesome video! What a true warrior! Pure courage and great skill. Fab technique along with the frightening aggression and impacts. Cant imagine waiting to get the ball off the ten and out of the corner of my eye already seeing him coming... Tip it and brace and maybe a quick prayer haha. A hero - if he played for Connacht we would have never let him go 😀 ... delighted to see he is exactly where he wants to be.
God I miss watching Jacques play
What a beautiful tribute.
Well done, what a video !
awesome video ... the man was immense on any field !!! Mooi so okie!!
Top accolade , excellent he was the man
100%! All the best to him and the family.🙏🏻
Can we get one on Macaw, Lomu, Kolisi or Mapimpi? All amazing stories. Really interested to see where you take this in the future Tim, keep up the good work 👍
Mapimpi is NOT nails
@johannesweidemann2578 I was thinking more off-field for him. Incredible and devastatingly sad story, which definitely makes him brave, hard working, and nails in my book.
I say this channel is Abolutely Nails. Thanks Egg.
Brilliant man and player
Well produced, Tim. Good job.
The bit Tim that you haven't covered is that Jacques Burger, Mauro Bergamasco, and , Side Show Bob are all the same person...
Have any of you ever seen all 3 in the same room at the same time???
No there you have it
Maybe you should make the next 6 Nations Rugby vid. Tim. Apart from learning more about Rugby tactics and strategies, well learn about the players and their back stories.
Wow great video.
Absolutely awesome Tim well done
Great video!
Awesome video. Thanks! ❤
Great video, so much emotion!
Brilliant, Loved it
LOVE THIS !
Tackle specialist players like Burger always have shorter careers and/or careers disrupted by injuries due to the massive tax tackling takes on the body. He's a warrior.
WOW!
Brilliant video!
Great work
Fantastic
He was a real Champion. Not many like him ever .
Beautiful
Very nice.
Awesome tribute
