SOUTH AFRICA SQUAD | THE NEXT GENERATION

- Rassie Erasmus has named a 43 squad to attend an "Allignment Camp" in Cape Town ahead of the 2024 International Season. Some SERIOUS talent, but which are the young guns most likely to make the step up?

If the comments here are reflective of the hospitality of South Africans generally, I may never leave! 🙏
The SA community will adopt u as one of our own Tim, all good brother, u definitely coming on over at a great time of the year, weather, rugby will be great 😎💪🏻🍺 i did post a comment in the section about the Craven week as well, let me know 👍🏻
So excited for you to see the Craven Week rugby. If you didn't know how we produce all these world-class players, you will after those three days. Enjoy!
Hi Tim
You should definitely go to the Affies vs Pretoria Boys High derby the 27th of July to see what South African school boy rugby is all about! It is the biggest rugby derby in Gauteng and one of the biggest in South Africa and you won't be far away if you are at the craven week.
Hi Tim, attending the Craven Week will give you an idea of players to watch in the short to medium term.
Wonderful to hear you are coming to SA! You have such a deep love for the sport that I really enjoy and treasure your commentary and thoughts! Let us know on which flight you are and you may just be surprised with an enthusiastic welcome!😂🎉
Tim,you already have friends in the making in every town in SA, you just have to get here. Love your channel mate.
Thanks for the content
This man is loved in SA, there's less comments and discussion about the video topic than okes is welcoming him to SA in advance.
Ferocious squad. Going to be a serious challenge for Ireland. Can't wait. 🇮🇪
Yep. That series is going to be quite something!
6 ,13 July🇮🇪🍽
South Africa still has a point to prove to Ireland. There win over us in the WC was no reflection of what we wanted or can do. I think in South Africa with home crowds, it is gonna be very, very difficult for Ireland.
I think ireland might pip us this June.
Our swaud is going to change a lot in the next 2 years , so I think it's going to be close
@@jaspermalan3640They haven’t played in SA for a long time now.
Andre Hugo Venter and Rassie has a unique connection.....His dad is Andre Venter (63 Springbok caps) who partnered Rassie at the Cheetahs and Springboks for many years...
Andre Hugo is also dating Rassie's daughter...😅
@@utoober- oh wow.
Impressive South African rugby knowledge
Hi Tim. I'm English but living in SA since 1966. Your channel is marvelous and have learned so much. I've shared it with my daughter who lives in the UK. I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip to SA.
Thanks
You no longer English...You African 🎉
I’m the opposite saffa in the Uk…. I am very jealous of you… miss the sun
I don't understand why Dayimani didn't get a call-up, he's one of the best backrow players in the country, but I'm happy that Hanekom is there. ps. Trevor Nyakane and Andre Esterhuizen got signed by the Sharks a couple of days ago.
Hanekom is a better fit for the boks, fits the typical number 8 the boks prefer and he’s so good already, his potential is a lot higher than the Dayimani.
There are 3 alignment camps
Also don't understand why he was left out. He's currently the best number 8 in SA.
He honestly deserves a call up
I just hope it's not because he is Jewish!
Tim - you are already a legend among Saffa rugby aficionados. You are going to be blown away not just by the rugby but by the big warm collective heart of ordinary people in South Africa ( in contrast to the political elite 🥴 ).
Great observation and evaluation of the squad. I definitely agree that Dyamani should be there.
Dyamani ! Love his style of play.
I have seen Dyamani a couple of times in URC matches, very physical, amazing speed, probably could play 13 or wing. may be just a little underweight for a Springbok nr8
He is not underweight, Rassie know what he has in him, not so much in the new guys. I believe he will be in the next alignment camp. @@user-tb1xf4rw7r
@user-tb1xf4rw7r
He played a handful of matches on the wing when he used to play for the Lions, before the URC.
I could see him playing a similar role to Kwagga Smith, who also served as a utility player when we did the 7-1 split.
Bet you're looking forward to the trip! You'll find that the British Pound goes quite a long way down here. 🙂
Hi Tim, always love your videos. I am a South African from Hermanus (little city close to Cape Town). When the time gets closer I would love to give you some suggestions for your trip. Im sure others will too. Very excited for the Springbok next 4 year cycle. There is huge talent and some very exciting new possible recruits.
Would LOVE that local knowledge...much appreciated
Like how you call Hermanus a city 😂
Hermanus sees itself as the Reno of Cape Town. The biggest little city in the Western Cape. 😁@@michaelgordon1613
I’m also from the bustling metropolis of Hermanus
@@michaelgordon1613 I was thinking the same thing 🤣
Thank you for your unbiased commentary Tim. You're a nice guy, you do research and make informed comments. Us SA's enjoy this channel. The lady rugby fans too! 👍😁🏉🇿🇦 (You're gonna love Loftus! Great gees!)
Tim, gear up for some serious South African hospitality! I hope you like meat, beer, and brandy and coke (often all at the same time!) You have plenty of fans down there. Your pronunciation is pretty good too! Gumede = Gu-meh-dee, but you get all the points for smashing Mngomezulu!
Hi Tim, I really hope you have a great trip to SA this year. As someone who has lived in all of the cities and watched Springbok games at the stadiums, Cape Town and the All Blacks game will be on a whole different level
So too Ireland at Loftus.
You will love South Africa just make sure you have people who are always available to help you
I'm sure Dayimani will get the call up to other camps. He offers similar cover as Kwagga, namely in a crisis they both can slot into wing(s). Not mention their destructive attacking ability.
Great work Tim. I don’t live in SA, but I’m a Springbok supporter born and bred. I really appreciate your well-researched, unbiased and thorough commentary. Great job (and your pronunciation isn’t too bad either!) 👏🏼👏🏼
Very envious of your trip, you will receive a warm welcome!
Sanele Nohamba is going to have an insane impact on world rugby very soon
Agree, but he needs to get back to playing at no.9 for the Lions to be sharp enough in that position for the Boks.
too early for him maybe 2 years still williams de klerk, hendrickse and reinach ahead of him,but his flexibility if playing flyhalf as well is great
@@boks23 De Klerk and Reinach are both done, and Williams & Hendrickse are keeping each other out of the franchise matches.
Sanele's time is now. It's between him and Grant Williams.
At 32 years, I feel Faf will still be around the Springbok squad for a while.
However, if he does make 2027, he won't be first choice.
Grant Williams is most probably the incumbent.
Nohambe is also very promising but needs to specialize at number 9.
Papier is also hitting a bit of form again.
Interesting years ahead.💯
@@RossVE-ut3uiI'm sure Faf will be around for many future RWC's, he just won't be playing in any of them.
Papier is on better form recently, but we need a more consistent performer in that key position. And when it comes to consistency, Nohama is the best of the hopefuls.
Hacjivah is a beast and deserves to be in the group. You must also check out Ebenezer Tshimanga currently playing in France. Not sure why he is not even signed locally.
I'm not sure if Tshimanga is eligible, as he was born in the DRC.
He's not South African, he clearly wants to play for France
Tshimanga sounds like a venda name surname, probably has south african ancestry as well
@@SA_PASF it's not
Dayimani is a phenom....
You will be going to some interesting places, not necessarily on the tourist route. It will give you a sense of why rugby players are prepared to go the extra mile. Life is hard, hard, hard for many. Poverty is rampant, everything a little dodgy, go to a township, look around the corners and perhaps you will understand the hope this team brings.
Love the way Rassie is mixing experience and new blood while building a new core squad for the next world cup 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦👏
Hi Tim, have been following you for a while and your views and attitude oozes rugby passion. Also great that you cover Springbok rugby. You will love South Africa and looking forward to you sharing your experiences with us
I would have loved to see Dan du Plessis in the squad.
Mate can't wait for you to come to South Africa, so excited. The modern man of Rigby in our country, awesome.
Can't wait to have you here, love your channel❤
Awesome video as always Tim, looking forward to having you here in the South
Having lived in Durban for 28 years, I would only recommend accommodation in either hillcrest, Ballito and umhlanga and in that order
Haha know it well.
As always Tim, a very good, unbiassed video. Thank you for that.
Always great commentary - thanks Tim. Can’t wait to have you in our country. You have to include Cape Town on your trip.
I always love your videos ,but absolute love how welcoming South Africans are in anticipation of your trip to South Africa.
Thanks Tim, great video and commentary as always. My husband and I started following you during the world cup and we love your channel. We are based in Johannesburg ( Joburg or Jozi) for the locals. I'll email you some further pointers re South Africa. Very excited you are coming! Some great rugby titan clashes this year!
Such a great channel Tim thanks for all the input and effort. Really heartwarming for all of us. Looking forward to your trip and watching what you post while here. I would suggest reviewing and researching your data/wifi options before you come down, as you may want to do a live broadcast post game and none of us want to miss out on your thoughts.
Regarding the camps, I wouldn't read too much into who is at the alignment camp and who is not. To me this is meet and greet stage between some coaches and players.
Not selection yet.
You will be the most protected tourist to ever visit SA lol Have a great trip man, we are mostly an exceptional hosting type of ppl .... you will love it man, great channel !!
Great post Tim. Keep up the good work. The South Africans will treat you like a king.
Gumede can be a freight train if used correctly. Rate him highly.
Great content as usual. Share your surprise that an in-form Dayimani isn’t getting this shot….but there are already 11 Stormers named, and perhaps it’s a numbers thing. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu is really exciting to watch, and he’s a very handy goal-kicking option as well….I wouldn’t be surprised to see him become the next Springbok Morné Steyn in another year or two. You are going to love South Africa, and it’s amazing you’ll do both coasts, the high veldt and also take in some Craven Week footie. I’m jealous! If you’re at all a wine guy, you should tour a couple of Western Cape wineries. Groot Constantia, one of SA’s oldest, is outside Cape Town and worth a visit, but there are many others in the Western Cape, Stellenbosch and Paarl regions in particular. And hook up with some of your SA followers for a real local braai before any test match.
Love the back row production analogy!
Can't wait for your first SA video. Looking forward to it!
Great and balanced insight as always Tim and as a Capetonian, I'm looking forward to hearing about your SA trip!
Love your work.
And we can't wait to show you our beautiful country and the people. You are going to just love it 😍😊
Great video Tim thanks, Charlie, St Helena Bay, West Coast, South Africa
Always happy to watch a Tim video, you're going to love SA🤟🏽
Great job this one, thanks Tim

Your insight into rugby is really great. And you pronouncing the names very well
what a generous and kind man, Tim Tim tIM KEEP UP THE GGOD WORK
I just love the balanced analysis from this channel. Enjoy the Boks vs the Irish series. ✌🏾
love watching ur analysis U will love South Africa (bias South African here)
I'll see you in Cape Town, Tim ❤ please continue with the fan reactions
Look forward to you visiting SA, Tim. Great channel!
Welcome to South Africa Tim, know that you are the voice of rugby in my book!
Super excited you're coming to South Africa. Happy to show you around. Regardless, wherever you go, make sure you stay safe. People from other countries are often targeted from a crime perspective.
I always admire your knowledge. Not only your own country of Birth but on all teams you comment on. Well done, keep going.
You’ll be very welcome here Squire, enjoy it and thanks for the programme
Greatest podcast 👍
Cant wait to see you in South Africa
Brilliant as usual! Enjoy SA!
Day don't no what we no. Great squad 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I like your passion for South Africa. Thanks man. In our country we all play the long game, in rugby and politically. You will see what I mean whenyou get here. Welcome!!
Great show Tim!
We are looking forward to receiving you Tim to our country, no doubt you’ll enjoy your stay.
Great video!! You really do your research well on the players
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching
Hey Tim great show once again. I live in the UK but think you will have an awesome time in SA. Ireland tests will be awesome and so will Craven week. Enjoy
Stoked you’re coming to SA! Nice one
Excellent, down to earth commentary Tim. You’re going to love SA despite what’s written in the media.🇿🇦Looking forward to the Loftus vibe playing Ireland on 6 July! Nothing quite like it…
love his opinion.and input
Great content, as always, Tim. I am glad you are excited by Jan-Hendrik Wessels. Jake White believes that he will be a 100 cap Springbok
Love your videos Tim. There's a great chance that when you visit SA, you will love it so much, that you may decide to stay...💌🤟
Love to see you out here brother. I'm sure you will have a wonderful trip. Bring as much "kit" as you can because you might not want to go back.
Good mixture of experience and young team. The coaching panel is the best.
thanks for the video
You sure you not South African? Your pronunciations are pretty spot on Tim👏🏼👌🇿🇦 You really do speak so highly of South Africa so thank you for that. You are going to love it here when you visit.
Watched Sacha for the first time on the weekend and wow what a talent!!
Im a Springbok fan from the 70,s I enjoy your knowledge My grandson is 11 and plays for u13 club team he stands at 5ft6ins lol yes pulled from the compose heap
Love the channel Tim!
That time of the year in SA, you need to get up to Ballito/Umhlanga/ Game reserves the week of the Durban test. Mid 20s not a cloud for week at a time.
Definitely get to the big schoolboy derby matches if they are on those weekends as 15-20k fans at many of them across the country.
Craven week will have all the talent but i dont think their will be much atmosphere and crowds not like the inter schools matches.
You will have a blast, those will be 4 epic Test matches but the big schoolboy games will be even more unique i'd think.
Jealous of those trips, enjoy!
We welcome you to our beautiful country and nation!
Fantastic content Eggchasers!
Hey Tim, by all accounts and how much us Saffas love you..
I think you gonna have to have a beer tent at each venue so we can all get to meet you.
Your commentary is fabulous and pronunciation spot on.
Thank you.
Tim you are going to absolutely love Craven week.
This video is a good representation of what we could expect to happen in the Bok camp at the next WC, i only hope there is LESS controversy this time round, but i reckon only time will tell. Either way, your always welcome around, and i HOPE you also get to enjoy the local cuisine !
Spot on about Wessels and Hanekom “ceiling”. Spot on.
Looking forward to having you in SA. It is winter here. Johannesburg winter is dry and cold early morning and evening. Day time you'll enjoy. But Cape Town in August, September is miserable. Very European winters in Cape Town be prepared 😂
U doing well bud ....good analogy.... and the look of promise ...💰👂👍🧐
Brilliant video. Subscribed
hi Tim we cant wait to have you in mzansi
Got a brandy waiting for you in JHB when you here mate, great rugby insight!
I know you’re going to have a wonderful time in SA! We’re friendly 😊
U hit the nail on the head with the 8
So cool you heading off to watch the Craven week at my alma mater 😁
As an ex Krugersdorp resident. If you looking for a bite to eat, try the Diner at the Anthos centre, about 10min from the school by car. Hopefully the food is still as good as I remeber. Cheers.
Shoutout from the Weskus (Westcoast) Vredenburg, RSA!!!!
Fantastic travel plans. Craven week will be awesome!
It's a shame that you are visiting cape Town during winter time. Quite rainy but still an awesome place.
Hi Tim.
I have been thinking about the reason for the incredible support/love we, as South Africans, have for the Springboks ever since you mentioned it during WC'23. Despite the unbelievable problems with our economy and the struggle to live above the bread line.
I believe it is because of the struggles and problems with government that we have a lack of national identity. That the people find a unifying cause, stability and love for each other through our national pass times, church, braai and of course the springboks.
love his coments
South Africans absolutely enjoy your channel… great to hear some of your thoughts and comments. What dates will you be in Johannesburg?
Big School boy derby on the 27th of July, Jeppe High School for Boys vs King Edward School… usually a huge attendance with two very proud schools up against each other…
What Typical South African school boy rugby is about
hope you enjoy SA. Great channel.
Hi tim. When going to loftus you should be there way before the game and get to the parking area for the braai or tailgate. Truly a experience
Plenty of fun out there ...the boks know how to give a sa welcome...
