    I sold a 1909 copy of the Letters and Lettering book by Brown, that you mentioned within the last 2 months, the first of the books that You mention that I had come across that I remember.
    Your report on Ebay open made me glad that I largely ignored Ebay Open.

      It's one of the reasons media is such a numbers game, literally millions of books, I rarely get the same thing twice and have sold nearly 25k listings. And yeah, the Open seems to have become more of a celebration, the action is always in the quarterly updates!

    Ads and INADs: I think the 2 topics go hand in hand. Had a customer today who received a group of 12 vintage (about 60 years old) rubber duck decoys I sent. My notes mentioned about half of them needed base weights that were absent. He contacted to complain that 4 lacked base weights. DUH!
    I sent him back the quoted details and expected an INAD to follow, but this guy was honest and said he missed it while shopping. I think this is often the case. On a phone, eBay has put the needed details behind an extra click (which buyers don’t open) and used the space freed up to fill with more ads. 😉

    eBay’s tech guys can’t get around to fixing issues like the Offers Experience because their too busy expending their time making unnecessary changes to common page layouts, trying to keep the site looking modern and slick. It reminds me of something my dad would say, that he picked up serving in the Navy in the 1950s: “Work it may, but shine it must!” 😉

    Liz from Colorado reworn + newsletter was the best thing about the 2nd day I listened to most of both days it was like an MLM promo. Seller workshops needed more time vs promoting the stage &eBay stuff live auction “for charity” . I love eBay but they need to focus on sellers helping sellers.

      It's turned into a marketing tool for eBay rather than something particularly useful for sellers other than the networking and seller led sessions.

    Ad Overdose: it’s only getting worse as time passes. I don’t use my phone to list, but do use it to run Comps when I’m out sourcing. If I decide the item is to be bought, I start a draft right then. The number of diversionary ads I pass just to find the Sell One Like It Button is terrible. Scroll after scroll, ad after ad. Shopping and Comping on my laptop is nearly as bad these days. I find it to be a huge turn off, especially when shopping.

    eBay Open, more like eBay closed. I dunno what's going on over there but my sales dropped off a cliff from the last 30 days. I even have 500 items, all promoted (5-10%), and my listing impressions have dropped nearly 50%. I dunno what else to do to get eyes on my products. Over 80% of my products are on the top of lowest price + shipping, and they are all promoted, and kaput. It's getting very frustrating to say the least.

    • @GalaxyCDSRocks
      @GalaxyCDSRocks  5 днів тому +1

      Yikes, that is a huge drop! My impressions are down less than 3%, which would strike me as in the range of natural variability, but 50% is eye-watering! I know they're not always helpful but have you contacted eBay, that seems like a real issue.

    I remember when they rolled out the Hub. It’s predecessor (which I think was just called Selling Manager) worked great. It had all the data I used daily and if I wanted to see something more, could go elsewhere. When they uploaded the Hub, it was so unstable I couldn’t get a listing up for weeks. The page had a constant refresh cycle going on.
    They blamed my Mac Book (which I’d used for 10 years) and I finally had to upload Chrome and learn a new program, because their new Hub was unstable on Safari and the service reps said there weren’t putting in the needed effort for Safari any longer. Their focus was on their majority Windows users.
    In short, their attitude was: We’ve made improvements to “serve you better” so now you have to adapt because the Hub is the future. Not looking forward to a New Hub at all. Makes me wonder if they ever really ask their average Seller what they want or need. The change alone means an added learning curve. 😉

    Listing on the laptop also has drop down menus (usually in Item Specifics) that only have 1 fixed choice and no way to override that choice. Removing those would be a great area to start reducing the number of clicks to list. 😉

    I had no interest in Ebay Open this year. I kind of had it pulled up for a while but found it pretty meh. I'd love to hear how they're going to fix the stuff that's been glitchy rather than creating new glitches and I didn't see anything on the agenda that didn't seem like standard corporate rah-rah-rah stuff. Oh well, thank you for the update. Wow, that offsite add fee from Etsy is brutal! Yikes.

      ebay open is just a giant pep rally like back in high school if anyone has been doing eBay full time for any significant amount of time we all know this and another thing we should all know by now is that THEY never introduce anything new they always just recap what they announced in the Spring/Summer Updates. ANYTHING will be announced in the Fall/winter Update which should be happening after Q3 earnings call. Ebay Fix things that's a laugh and half! they LOVE braking things that are working FIXING things that is another story....its like resellers they love to source but when it comes to anything else reselling they dread it and put it off well this is how ebay is with there company (specifically there website) I have come to learn this over 26 years selling full time on ebay (been a full time seller since 98')

    Thanks for your analytical information. Going on 27 yrs of selling, maybe EBay should invite buyers to these EBay worship gatherings rather than sellers since they favor buyers way more. I have never attended and will never attend, especially next year. Just no. I’d rather have a root canal.

    8:19 something new I noticed about the shipping! When I have a sale and I'm packaging it up and it ends up being five sometimes 10 ounces less normally there's a change in the shipping amount and I end up making less than a dollar I'm sure but making a little bit off of the Shipping to help go towards my fees I don't feel guilty about it because I pass my Shipping discount onto my buyer. But the last few days it's not changing there's no difference from what they charged the buyer and what I'm paying even though the package may be an inch smaller and weigh less, not much less but enough that usually it ends up lowering the shipping cost by 0.50-0.60 cents. oh but I can guarantee when it's a little bit bigger it definitely raises the rate. And I've done this since 2012 so I understand where the different levels are that changes the rates up and down. it's as if eBay has decided that no matter what size the packages if it's smaller or weighs less than what we charged our buyers they are not changing the rate which tells me eBay is going to keep the overage on that shipping as their own profit. i'm just guessing because it just started I don't have enough data to know for sure but this is the feeling/vibes I'm getting. maybe it's just a glitch we shall see.

    International Shipping: something I haven’t heard an update since it was announced is about eBay rolling Alaska, Hawaii & PR into their international Shipping Program. Do you know if that concept died on the vine? I hope so, since it made no sense to me. 😉

    3:54 Best offers- ebay saying buyers have to provide some form of payment information before sending an offer but after the sellers accept these offers we are getting messages saying "you are now able to accept multiple offers from buyers and the one who pays first gets the item!" so once you accept the offer it's not really sold!!! 😖 So accepting an offer means nothing anymore. Why cant ebay treat offers as a required payment up front deal. Why let buyers make offers they are not fully committed to. Where I come from someone makes you an offer, you accept the offer that means it's a done deal but not on ebay... not anymore 😒

    • @GalaxyCDSRocks
      @GalaxyCDSRocks  4 дні тому +1

      Right, this is a strange one and I'm not a fan. And of course it isn't applying to all buyers or sellers yet so it's a complete guessing game!

    4:39 this week I had a buyer purchase 3 shirts, he had to pay for all 3 separately including 3 separate shipping charges. The shipping charge for 1 item was 6.79 and the combined actual shipping cost was 8.31 so because it was 3 separate sales I had to do a refund to all 3 items to fix it and spread the expenditure/refund out. I ended up adding the full cost for me to ship of 8.31 to the first item then I had do a full refund on the 1st item for the full 6.79 shipping cost... 12.06-6.79=5.27 (still needing to be refunded)...then split the 5.27 refund still owed to the buyer was taken off/refunded on the 2nd shirt to complete the refund on a total amount of 12.06 back to the buyer which was really confusing because you end up getting credits back from ebay on each sale on the fees. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!!! Sellers need to be able to combine shipping charges and send an invoice to the buyer with actual shipping charge to avoid that whole mess. WTH ebay?!?🤯😱😡😳 (note: I had to go look at my notes to edit this message because it was so confusing I couldn't even remember what I did) 😅

      and just as a sidenote the shirts sold for 8.99 each plus the 6.79 shipping which is why I could not just take the full amount off of one item/sale.

      @@GalaxyCDSRocks look at your seller dashboard under the "Orders" tab/section! I just found a link for "Orders eligible for combined purchases"!!! When I click it it says this is where you can combine purchases from the same buyer, add the adjusted shipping charges and send the seller an invoice. I'm sure this will have to happen before the buyer pays but it says you can combine up to 40 items at a time. Im thinking the buyer will need to add the items to their cart which probably won't work on offers. I really wish ebay would get this issue fixed 😕

    Faster Listing Flow would be great, but I agree that letting eBay make the choice about shipping decisions is a bad idea. I primarily list with Fixed Rate Shipping for just that reason. If there is a bad decision then I know I own it. Calc is often wrong.
    There are so many other ways to streamline and speed up listing they could fix. I use a laptop and the last Classic Template design layout was far simpler then the current one. There are a dozen places on the current Flow Template that are just laid out badly, causing many extra clicks and redundancies.
    Why don’t they ask for input from long term users, rather then deciding where to make changes “on our behalf”. I must send them at least 3-5 comments a week, when their flow is bad, like having three places to enter a model number, no place to enter a UPC or the data fields (like Promoted Percentage) are faulty. 😉

      There is also way too much whitespace and necessary scrolling when using a laptop or desktop to list. Extremely inefficient. Fit as much as you can on the screen at once, efficiency is why people would choose a real computer with a big display instead of a tiny phone.

    • @brianhenry2385
      @brianhenry2385 5 днів тому +1

      @@johnathin0061892 Exactly. The old Classic basically fit the entire template on a single screen, with very little scrolling. It was tight and compact and even the drop downs, used to input data into the fields, were simple and made much more sense then the current data fields, especially in the Item Specific area. Now there isn't even consistency in how you enter the data in the fields. 😉

    if we all have to pay more than 20% for advertising plus another 12 to 15% sometimes 9% depending on what you're selling but if we have to pay up to 35% of our revenue to eBay to list on there and sell on there then we would all be better off doing Shopify stores paying for Google ads and teaching our buyers to just Google the item and go to individual stores granted it would be a struggle because there's a huge learning curve but eventually it would smooth out and be OK and I don't even mean Shopify only, just websites in general. somebody would step up with a platform that we could do that on if they saw a need for it. OK I'm stepping away now lol😅

      Agreed, I think eBay sellers are maxed out on fees!

  • @MakingEndsMeet_JudysStopNShop
    @MakingEndsMeet_JudysStopNShop 4 дні тому +1

    Question: how does it make you as a seller feel when you're completing a draft and you're filling in/editing the promoted listing % rate (I do between 3-5%) and a message pops up like a warning suggesting rates between 11.5-21.5% depending on what category you are listing in... Call me crazy but I'm at the point I'm literally cussing my computer saying F you eBay it feels like a scam it makes me angry it literally makes me angry. I am offended that eBay expects us to pay from 11% up to 21% or more for our items to be seen on eBay what a complete scam! It's almost as if I fully expect eBay to drive it totally into the ground make as much money as possible off of all these promoted listings and then sell it to somebody else make their money and run that's how it feels because this is not sustainable for the sellers. eBay has fully turned into an advertising business instead of a reselling business because they make their money off of advertising not the act of reselling. and maybe I'm just a crazy old white lady but it pisses me off. I love eBay I have loved eBay for years and I am losing all faith in them it's crazy because there are no other platforms that I want to truly put 100% of my time into. can you hear the panic in my voice because that's kind of how I feel on a daily basis now. it's kind of like knowing your spouse is cheating on you but not wanting to leave 😂🤣🤪 not funny but kinda funny 😅

      I've been saying this for some time, they've decided they can make more money more quickly selling ads than selling stuff, so now there are multiple ad options. And yes, you feel compelled to use them to have a chance, but it's all quite icky
