Very Welcome RAIN in the Garden #3

- Here in the North of England, we have been having a bit of a heatwave. The rain that came this last couple of weeks was so very welcome and has made everything in my garden grow phenomenally! Weeds too!
In this video I'll show you the work that my Garden Team were doing in the pouring rain in my Front Woods. We have a long term plan for this area. Watch this space!

In fact, please DO watch this space - subscribe and click the notification bell because I don't post regularly and you may miss an update. To try and help with that I am numbering each video.
The Last Homely House channel has just reached a wonderful milestone - 100K subscribers. If you are one of them - THANK you very much!
I chose music for this video from Epidemic Sound to reflect the content. I hope you like it. Here you have
Willow

and
Across The Lake
very fitting I thought
The recipe for Gooseberry Fool is very simple.
Top and tail the gooseberries and give them a good wash. In a saucepan add a good handful of caster sugar to the berries with a glug of undiluted elderflower cordial. Heat gently for 10 minutes. The berries should not be mushy. Taste and adjust the sugar if you like.
Fold this into lightly beaten double cream, one small pot of the stuff.
That's it. Serve with little biscuits, shortbread traditionally, but I had amaretti biscuits. Delicious!
So happy you decided to create The Last Homely Garden...the videos are ethereal, and there is such beauty in each one. Thank you for taking us along.
“Ethereal” is the perfect word to describe these magical moments captured on video!
Dear Kate; this little garden channel is a delight - so happy you decided to give us this charming gift of your garden. What a lovely surprise to see Eileen. Thank you; stay well.
So beautiful and peaceful. So happy that you have another channel We love you Kate
Kate, Thank you for sharing your lovely garden once again! What a treat to us, your viewers!!
Just love the fox gloves, it’s an insect heaven Kate. No doubt you will shred the wood for your future paths, such a good way to utilise what you have. Lots of work to be done but you have a great team, well done to you all.❤.
yes - you got it! xxx
These garden videos are wonderful! I've loved "The Last Homely House" and I'm very much enjoying this channel as well :)
I’m in on the “Last Homely House” & just now subscribed to Garden. Thank you for numbering as it makes it so much easier to watch in sequence. You are the most interesting & kind person ever & I could watch & listen to you doing just about anything. 😉
Love love your gardens Kate……..if you love gardens as much as I do, you must feel like you’re in heaven there. Marvelous. Thank you for sharing.
I loved all the bird sounds. And, I'm glad you have a team to help you.
Hello from Finland! This lovely video just popped in, and I love it. Here we put lambswool of low quality and full of dirt (which the spinning mills don't accept) around the plant beds and on the branches of young trees and bushes. No deer, bunny or rabbit will come and eat your vegetables which grows within this barrier. In addition to that, the wool will slowly nourish the soil. Try it! With love, Ulrika.
Your garden is LOVELY! Yummy looking lettuces. Flowers are gorgeous! So nice to see Eileen💕. It's wonderful for you to have such great help! You're looking happy and healthy💕. Thank you for this new channel and for sharing your progress in the garden! Looking forward to your next video☺️
Kate,
I love your videos. Your life resembles mine only i have 4 married children and 11 grandchildren. You are an inspiration! After losing several close family members in a few years time ( including my son and fiancee among others) i am slowly returning to myself and quilting and gardening again. Your videos are a must while i sew and even just for fun and company!!! Thank you for sharing yourself and your talents with is! BTW…. I am a multi-project person like you with lots in the soup daily, lots of family interruptions and no end of new projects tapping me on the shoulder. I live in a tiny home now so i must control the piles and collections!!!! Or i may have to expand my living quarters. 😬. Thank you again!!!💜🩷🩵💙
So glad you finally got a good rain. Everything looks beautiful and very well cared for
Opening shot on this video just made me go oh shoot, what a wondrous place to live. So green, so very green. Hills... man oh man what a place!
Hi Kate …such a lush and peaceful garden . The sound of the rain and mist coming off of it adds to that peaceful beauty .
Enjoy . Your flowers are lovely. What a treat to see sweet Eileen!

Must be the organic ,vegetarian diet
I’ve really enjoyed walking through your garden with you! It’s beautiful! Thank you!
your garden is very lovely. Thank you for sharing.
I am in my 70's and I also have a large property on my own....sometimes I feel overwhelmed but I continue on and the feeling goes away...glad to see there are other women on the same path❤
Beautiful garden Kate! I love every episode and look forward to the next one
Always a pleasure to visit with you and great to see Eileen as always! She is just beautiful! Have a wonderful rest of your week❤🥰😊
Thanks Kate always a pleasure watching what ever you do.
I landed here on this site thinking it was your craft channel. Wow am I happy I did! Thank you for all you do!
thank you for numbering your videos....I always wish UA-camrs would do that. Love, love your gardens/flowers/veggies and your surroundings. I find it so peaceful to walk through your garden.
I live in the mountains in the northeastern part of the US. We had a couple of weeks of the drought here, but lately lots and lots of rain. Last year I put in things like gooseberries, red currents, elderberries, blueberries, raspberries & strawberries, to name a few. It's occurred to me that other than a few jams, I have no idea what to do with gooseberries. Doing a fool is a lovely idea. Thank you so much for this channel. It's been wonderful to follow along here on the lime green sofa. 🛋🫐🍓💚
you can do a crumbble
@@yvonneboerema2782 Thank you. Gooseberries are not used here in the US much so I'm greatful for ideas. Lovely people here on the lime green sofa.
you welcome you can do a chutney as well or make a cordial/syrup and they are good with meats as a compote but harty ,we use them a lot .
@@yvonneboerema2782 Thank you so much! The best people can be found here on the lime green sofa 💕
Eileen is fun to watch with her marigold orange beak.
I love seeing your garden. Those tall purple flowers are so beautiful. Eileen is so beautiful too and so are those lovely birds you have at your feeders. It is so cool to see the types of birds and flowers that you grow because we do not have any of those in Illinois in Zone 5. Thank you for showing us your beautiful garden and land that you live on.
Kate, the bouquets you pick from your garden are so colorful and beautiful! Maybe a video of all that is blooming in your gardens? You could identify the plants for us too? That would be wonderful!
Thank you, thank you for a delightful amble through rainy North England today. Such a refreshing visit Kate! It's 105F where I am today in California....tomorrow's forecast is for 110F.
I am glad its warmish as I nave a deep seeded need to run you a warm bath with a rum toddy, you make me miss my Scottish mum and English Gran both whom I miss desperately and spent years embroidering Beatrix Potter characters for new grandchildren, and quilting with my Grans quilting group!
Lovely to see Eileen looking so well.
So lovely! I hope that as the climate changes over time, the UK will never have the trouble we have in the US/Canada with wildfires. Your garden looks so amazing. It makes me want to get back out in mine and move greenhouse starts into raised beds.
Thanks so much Kate. It's so peaceful and calm with you in your garden. I just love watching.
I also follow your crafting to.
Thanks again Kate 😊😊❤
we have one of those "fisher price chainsaws" and i love it! honestly, the big ones scare me, but now, all those invasive non native bullies are coming out of my garden! thanks for providing a video tonight while i rest my weary wild woman gardening self!
Thank you very much Kate!! It was lovely to watch so much green in your garden ❤️ I'm sure many of us are inspired by following you along the paths and getting a feel of it.
I'm so jealous! Clever you getting this group of young studs to do your chores. I love it. Couldn't happen to a nicer garden either. Happy Summer friend!
Kate es maravilloso tu jardín. Vivir en un lugar así es muy gratificante. Naturaleza a plenitud
This is like a ‘hundred acre wood’; just lovely!
Thank you for these garden videos. Working in nature is peaceful. Look forward to the next one Kate ❤
I do love to see ur garden and all the rejuvenation work that is being done! Adam is a fabulous man! And is doing a fab job! 😅❤
I really enjoyed that gooseberry footage. I had a great uncle that grew masses of bushes of them in West Virginia when I was a child. He had the pink variety that shimmered like it was gold plated in the sun. And I haven't eaten one since. Now my tastebuds are ready for more!
Thank you Kate I’m happy you have helpers
I love seeing your beautiful garden and I also really enjoy watching you quilt. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life with us. ❤ 5:03
I always love seeing Eileen.
I'm loving the garden and I love rain.
Absolutely Beautiful, thank you ! X
Kate, I'm enjoying your garden videos very much. Thank you for sharing. I'm loving all that you share on the Last Homely House channel. 😊❤
That was great Kate shame about the weather it's so lovely to watch your garden change and develop. But we needed the rain.
So beautiful Kate, so relaxing, having my cup of coffee going around the garden with you.
Ha ha! Fisher Price chainsaw! A big little part of my life as a mom of two boys, now grown to men…I had to drown (in the bath) a Fisher Price « radio » which played « Raindrops keep falling on my head » endlessly…I let the kids take it in the bath to save my sanity, which I knew I would need to raise them the rest of the way! I love your vidéos!
Lots of work for your and your team . The garden is truly breathtaking.. Must be awesome to eat from your own garden. Blessings Kate
I felt a huge stab of jealousy seeing your garden in all it's rainy glory, and had to take a deep breath and remember to be glad for the good fortune of friends. I have many blessings, but a glorious wild garden is not one of them. I particularly loved your willows, and am happy for you to have all those trimmings. I can easily imagine many lovely projects that can be made from them.
Loved seeing Eileen today, despite her nerves at the noise. Someday I want a goose, too. :)
Gooseberry pie is my all time favorite. Your break treat looks fabulous.
Gardens are a lot of work, particularly as you get older. I continue to plug away, a bit at a time but certainly can’t do as much as I used to do. It’s lovely being outside, listening to the birds and checking for bees and butterflies. I really enjoy all of your videos. Take care….see you next time and thanks.
What a lovely garden! Thank you so much for sharing all the precious moments.
Yay a second channel. How lovely! 💐
My goodness! Your gooseberries are so big. I've never seen gooseberries so large. They are one of my favorites. Love your gardening videos.
I love garden tours
So enjoy seeing your garden....love hearing the birds in the background.
Kate, your videos are so sweet and nostalgic for me. I grew up in a rural part of Kentucky, USA, at the foothills of Appalachia. Eileen and gooseberries both remind me of my childhood. My grandparents had geese that looked like Eileen; we loved finding their huge eggs in unusual places. Gooseberries grew outside grandma’s garden. 😊
@@jeffersonmorant DUDE!! Quit trolling us over 50 women already!!!

A beautiful garden Kate! The bees must be happy. So good to see Eileen again. She did look very scared of the sounds in the garden.
Beautiful foxglove Kate one of my favorite flowers. I think of them as fairy flowers. I love the dots on the inside of the bells.
Beautiful garden, love the Foxgloves and seeing Eileen too. Thank you so much for sharing……………….
It’s so nice to spend time in your garden! 🌻
Gooseberry Fool ... mmm!
This is such a magical , beautiful place. Love watching everything going on in your garden
Another relaxing video…💕
Love seeing all your beautiful plants and garden. Thank you for sharing with us.
Such a beautiful area for your gardens. Just a dream come true.
Good news that radish can be transplanted.
Love the “Fisher Price” chain saw! 😂
Oh! how lovely to see the Fox Gloves!
Oh yum, I like gooseberries. Your garden is lovely and it was fun to catch a glimpse of Eileen. TFS
Wonderful Episode 3..rain was needed... greetings from The Netherlands ❤❤❤
A lovely restful visit to your garden. Take care Kate xx
I'm not an outdoor gurl, but truly enjoy your outdoors!
Love, love, love the fox gloves!
So lovely all the beautiful digitalis purpurea flowering in your garden 💚
I'm purring...thank you.
This was lovely, and so nice to see Eileen. The gooseberry fool looks delicious.
I love all your fox gloves very beautiful ❤😊
Love your "Fisher Price Chainsaw", had a lovely giggle🤗
I really liked the pink flowers that looked like bottle brushes.
Love your garden, always enjoy visiting with you. Thank you for sharing your garden. 🪡🧵♥️
ove the Fox glove plants blooming wild!
Beautiful Garden and plans, Kate! Love this video so very much! Eileen sure is a lovely, and happy goose!!♡
Hi Kate....just finishing up a mini-binge of sorts of your three new gardening videos. Everything is lovely and I'm enjoying your new channel very much
I'm happy to be in my garden as well. I have had my first potatoes and cucumbers. I love getting my hands dirty.
God's bounty of rain is a blessing! I am amazed at all the variety of His creation.
Beautiful foxglove, I knew them as witches thimbles... perfect for a crafters garden. ❤
Don’t we look silly sitting on the lime green couch with our boots on? I’m not a gardener, I live in the desert and enjoy seeing all your greenery. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely to share your experience! In the back country in Southern California we are drier so it’s a treat to see all the green. With all those willows you could make some wattle fencing in your garden.
Thank you for numbering. Beautiful.
My eyes popped when you showed your gooseberries. Ours barely reach pea size. Greetings from Missouri where we've been 104°F twice in the last week with extreme drought.
Wonderful, Kate! Thank you. 💗
I love your new channel so much especially as i have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer so i won't be able to do any gardening this year so its nice to see your garden and the work that is being done.
I live in zone 5 of Northern Illinois near Lake Michigan we need rain desperately..I love coming from the lime green sofa to sitting in you bathtub chair to visit your garden❤😂😊
Oooh goosegogs, I haven’t had goosegogs for years!
Perfect length to accompany my morning cup of tea! Thank you for this glimpse of your garden life! I planted a small willow fence by just putting sticks of willow into the earth in our garden last year but it grew so quickly in one season that I had to remove it in the autumn as our garden is not big enough and seeing how much yours grew in ten years I'm glad I made the decision to take it out! I kept the whippy branches intending to do some willow weaving but they are still unused in a bundle......hopefully they are providing shelter for wildlife! 😊
I bet there are faeries hiding in the foxglove. I love the back garden!
These garden videos are so inspiring! Like you, I live out in the country. I have 1 acre which is perfect, if not just a tad too big, but I love it and realize any plans I have for this property is a slow process of planning & planting! Thanks for taking us off the lime green sofa and out into your property to watch its transformation!
That’s so thoughtful of you Phyllis, Thanks for your positive review,How are you and how’s the weather over there?
