If you walk back at that moment the switch will NOT go on, you have to leave, wait for a minute or so, then walk back and then the switch works, it just looks like there is a period after switching to off it does not function, this is incredibly annoying if you need light.

@pradub - I see what you’re trying to do but that won’t be possible as far as I know. Why don’t you get the nest thermostat instead? I’ve got one and it’s got safety temperatures which allow you to set a low and high temperature points. For the low end it’ll start heating the house and high end it’ll cool. You can also schedule it to run at certain times. I think that will be a better solution for you. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Hello Qasim! I have a question if you can please help me! I have Philips hue sensor with hub, but no Philips bulbs or lights! I have smart switchs at home connected via Alexa. And my issue is the following. I want the sensor, to turn on my lights only when it detects low light on the ambient and not when is day time. But want it to do automatically and not making a routine to work on this period of time. Is there a way I can do this?
@Stefano Gallitelli - As far as I know you will need to have some bulbs or plugs for the sensor to trigger them. Once you get the bulbs you can most certainly have them triggered at certain times. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
@@QasimZafar so if I buy one bulb, configúrate it in Philips hub but then create a routine in Alexa that turns ON my other lights ( kasa switches) I will be able to use my sensor with the option light sensitivity?
@Stefano Gallitelli - Yes once you setup the motion sensor in the hue app, go into the Alexa app and add it there by checking for new devices. You have hue linked to Alexa right? You’ll then be able to create routines to have the motion sensor trigger lights etc.
@Gregely Anton - Got ya! Try the wemo one I have their plugs and they’re solid. Their switch is illuminated so you’ll be able to see it in the dark. www.bestbuy.com/site/wemo-wifi-smart-dimmer-white/6431182.p?skuId=6431182
I’m just looking into this tech so this may sound ignorant, but is there a way to set the motion controls to dim the lights up or down relative to someone’s proximity to a sensor? I managed apartments a few years ago, and did an inspection to one tenant’s unit that would fade up the lights up from 0% the closer you walked down the hall to the living room (but they didn’t fade up completely after triggering a set point… slowly inching closer to the room also directly influenced extremely small, incremental percentage increases to the brightness), and then fade back down the same way as you walked away. Standing in the living room would override that setting since the other staff member I was with tried walking back towards the front door and the lights wouldn’t react to him as long as I was in the unit. It’s been driving me bonkers for years trying to figure out how the guy set that up, google hasn’t been any help, and I’d love to do the same thing to my home instead of having the lights just do a timed fade up to a pre-programmed setting.
@D - I know exactly what you mean but I don’t have any idea how that could be done with the hue sensor and lights. I’ve even seen it in some parking garages they have sets of lights come on with motion which is something that could be done but no idea on how to adjust their brightness.
Hi, Could you please tell how to set the sensor off while I'm home and on when not home. So when someone get into the room when I'm not home, the lights would on and off automatically.. When im home, the light would keep turn on even without any movement.. Thank you
@vicko valdano - Hey if you have scheduled times where you are going to be away and don’t want the sensor to do anything while you’re not home just go into the settings and then tap into your sensor, here you’ll see you can set a day and night behavior, so you’ll be able to go in and chose two sets of schedules for the sensor. One schedule you can set it to do nothing for the times you will not be home. Another simple thing you can do is under settings and then accessories you can simply turn off the sensor when you don’t need it. Let me know if this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Hello... I'm still making some additions to my apartment (making it a smart apartment) I have 2 hue motion sensors and a bridge of course but I don't have Hue smart bulbs. I placed my smart light bulbs in my bathroom they aren't hue. Instead they are the sengled brand. I want to be able to go in my bathroom hands-free (motion sense) lights. Do I need to buy Hue motion indoor light bulbs? or keep what I have? I have to continuously update my alexa routines to make sure my lights come on and for the duration that I want. Any suggestions?
@Ashley Maingi - Hi Ashley so your best bet to have a hassle free setup is to grab yourself some hue bulbs because then the motion sensor will be able to trigger your lights every time. You’ll need to setup everything once and then you’ll be good to go 😊. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions feel free to ask! Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
@Ashley Maingi - Is it blinking red or staying red for a while? Blinking red most likely means a low battery but a solid and flashing red light means the sensor is having connectivity issues.
Hi, First of all I'd like to thank you for all your videos-I am creating my smart HUE home and all your comments and advices were very helpful. Yesterday I bought a motion sensor and a hue plug-and I've got a problem with setting them. Maybe you could help me... I'd like to turn on the plug (which turns on a standard lamp) automatically when the motion sensor detects any motion. but unfortunately I don't know how to set the devices in my app. So far I added both to the same room, separately they work perfect, but when the motion is detected the plug doesn't turn on. If you could give me adivice how to do that I will be very grateful.
@logikgr - Haha seriously there’s so many cool hue labs formulas available...when making the video I had to go with ones that are my favorite 😊. Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed the video 🙏🏽😊.
@Marcus Wihlborg - Hey so there’s no way to adjust the brightness but there is a workaround. So the room you’re controlling, create a new scene with the brightness you want. Then when you go to set the scene selection in three times a charm…just chose the custom theme and it’ll set it to the perfect color and brightness for you 😊. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
I'd like my motion sensor , if triggered, to turn on all my lights to the color blue. Is that possible. All my lights are in one zone and I have a BLUE scene in that zone. Thanks
@Don Gillum - Yes it can do that, when you go to setup it’ll allow you to select the blue scene you just have to specify things like the times you want it triggered.
@Frank - Hey thank you so much for the feedback, yes you actually do have the ability to do that with apple HomeKit. What are you using for smart home automations? Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
@@QasimZafar I just started with a bunch of philips hue lights. I have a normal light, that I plugged in the hue smart plug. But I want it to turn on automatically when we enter the room. That can only been done thru the Apple HomeKit app, or also the philips hue app?
@Frank - That’s great, yes with apple HomeKit you can setup these automations. Setup both the sensor and the smart plug in the same room and once done create a new automation. Inside there you will see an option to have the sensor trigger the smart plug on or off. It’s pretty sweet, let me know if you need further assistance 😊.
@Mohiburkhan Khan - If you’re using HomeKit to automate you can use the sensor to trigger the plug. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
@Mohiburkhan Khan - Of course I try my best to get back to everyone 😊. Yes have you heard of ifttt app by any chance? It’s third party and with that you can really customize automations between smart devices.
@DeGame Geek - The only thing I can think of is to check under automations in the hue aap to see if you might have accidentally set a schedule or something. Other than that I don’t see why they would do that as I’ve never encountered this issue before. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
What if I have 3 of my hue bulbs come on white via hue motion sensor throughout the day. And let's say I change my 3 bulbs to blue or green for a party or something. How can I temporarily stop the motion sensor from turning white during a scene I want to keep. I keep getting a message saying for sensor snooze it will overwrite my current formula for my motion sensor but I don't want it to do that completely. Temporarily yes but not forever... I hope I'm making sense. Please help.
@07freshkid70 - Hi so you can only have one formula with the sensor at a time but with the sensor snooze formula the specific time you don’t want the lights to change you can just set that. For example one option in sensor snooze has two time slots so day and night...so you can chose the starting time of both and chose what you want it to do. So whenever you don’t want it to change your lights you’ll just set that as one of the time slots. The other option is three time slots and it works the same way. So set the time slot when you don’t want anything changed and for the other time slots just have it set to “bright” when motion is detected. Hope this makes sense..kind of hard to explain 😂.
@07frwshkid70 - that’s awesome I’m glad you got it all figured out! Let me know if you have any other questions for me and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
The setup “should” be simple. We have a fairly effective smart home setup, but chose to stick with Hue for lighting, ring for doorbells, and echo for voice control. No issues so far….until we installed a motion sensor at the bottom of our large stairwell, and one at the top. For some strange reason 4 of the 6 lights are activated, but the other two will not activate. All 6 lights are in the hue bridge, and respond accordingly, but not by the motion sensor. We have reset the sensors, the lights, and deleted the room and reset. Im at a loss on this one

I have a query, hope you can advise😢My motion sensor sometimes light up the green led whenever I walk past it, but sometimes it doesn’t light up the green led when I walk past. Actually they r still working and detecting the motion perfectly as I can check from Hue app. Just the led light makes me confused sometimes. Could you adv how does the green led on your motion sensor work?
@Lindsie - Hey so every now and then you’ll notice the green light on the sensor, that’s just letting you know that the battery level of the sensor is good. The led can also change color and be helpful in figuring out what’s wrong with the sensor when it malfunctions. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
@@QasimZafar - thank you for your advice. Can I check with you whether your motion sensor lights up the green led when it detects motion/when someone walks nearby it?
Great video 👍 Quick question, I have a Lutron Dimmer switch that’s connected to a Phillips Hue Bulb, would you recommend me getting the Hue Motion Sensor or the Lurton Sensor?
@Roy Moshkovitz - Thanks for the feedback I’m glad you found the video helpful. I’d say either one would be fine but I haven’t used the Lutron one. The hue sensor will work directly in triggering the bulb and the the lutron I assume will trigger the switch. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Very good explanation, how about batter life? Also, i want to get this so I can monitor my pets if they escape from my house. Do you think my cat will trigger it?

@@QasimZafar at the moment i see only option to separate my lights :( i been thinkin to place sensor under my desk to turn on my backlights while using pc without turning on other lights in the room
@@meccu19 For that I suggest instead of using the sensor you create a theme inside the room which you can just turn on with the tap of a button because with the sensor if you stay still for a bit it’s going to want to turn off the lights which will be annoying.
@Ming Nguyen Dang - Once you’ve added your sensor, go to settings>accessories>choose the sensor and now inside here specify daytime hours and an action you’d like so here specify the lights to turn on. Underneath you’ll see “After” that’s where you can specify how many minutes before it performs the action and here you need to select the lights to turn off. Repeat this for the night time hours and you’ll be all set. Now when motion is detected the lights will come on and after the specified amount of minutes and no motion, they’ll turn off. @@QasimZafar I see but that's not what I mean, just want to use this sensor as a door trigger, whenever I go out of the room, It turn off the lights, whenever I go in the room, It turn on the lights. This sensor seems to be can't do that thing?
@Minh Nguyen Dang - Yeah I got ya and if you do what I said it’ll do just that. This is exactly how I have my room and garage sensors set. I go into the room and the lights come on and if I leave the room I’ve set it to turn off after 3 minutes.
As long as there’s motion in the room it’ll stay on. The sensor is a trigger it’s what triggers the lights to perform an action. Also with hue formulas you can even do more.

Is that possible? Also is it possible to place the sensor in the ceiling? Thank you! ☺️
@That Norwegian Biker - You’re welcome ☺️. You can most certainly achieve the hallway auto lighting with the sensor. When you program it you can have it behave certain ways at certain times so that way during the day it’ll trigger the lights on but won’t turn them off and at night it can. You also shouldn’t have any problem mounting it to the ceiling. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
When the Hue Sensor stops working and blinks red upon setup its a sign to change batteries. Do not trust that you have fresh ones in the box. Mines are controlling TP Link Kasa bulbs, plugs and switches via Alexa and work fluently. The routines you can set up Iin Alexa are way more flexible than what's available in the Labs
@Philippe Rostin - Yes you’re definitely right about that…mine were fresh in the box and they’ve been going strong till now. Oh yes with Alexa and Google home you can really do a lot with these but the few labs mentioned are also not a bad option for those that might now have Alexa or google home. Thanks for the input and for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
I have been trying to do this and realised you also need a HUB (an extra cost) to be able to do this…. And realised that the WIZ products don’t, they go through your wifi on your phone. Back to the store I go.

Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

@David David - No it’s an optional accessory. All you need is a hue bridge, lights and the motion sensor.
Hi, if i buy smart electricity adapter, how can i program it to switch on when temperature is above 25deg and switch off when it falls to 22deg, is it possible? i got the hue bridge, the sensor and thinking to buy the adapter, but dont know if i can program it. thanks for help
Hi, can you recommend me some switches for hue? The classic ones are very difficult to use, especially in the dark.
@Gergely Anton - You’re talking about smart wall plugs correct? Also what smart home assistant do you use?
@@QasimZafar yes, the dimmer switch. I'm using Alexa. Google home is also nice.
Can this simply be triggering alert via Google home just as an alarm ? Can it be used for non-philips lights ?
@@QasimZafar I got the lights (hue lights) do I have to set up automations to keep my lights on and/or off?
@Asley Maingi - Yes you have to setup the automations and also the sensor and how you’d like it to control the lights.
@@QasimZafar my hue motion sensor light turns red when it detects motion
Do I have to reinstall it?
Well explained, thank you.
@Vikas Singh - You’re welcome ☺️ I’m glad I could help.
Awesome video! It just made me realize that I need to spend more time learning what Hue can do. 😅
@logikgr - Haha seriously there’s so many cool hue labs formulas available...when making the video I had to go with ones that are my favorite 😊. Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed the video 🙏🏽😊.
Where do I adjust The brightness in Three Times a charm?
I want to customize The brightness
@Marcus Wihlborg - Hey so there’s no way to adjust the brightness but there is a workaround. So the room you’re controlling, create a new scene with the brightness you want. Then when you go to set the scene selection in three times a charm…just chose the custom theme and it’ll set it to the perfect color and brightness for you 😊. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Can you setup a detection zone, so pets don't constantly trigger the lights?
I'd like my motion sensor , if triggered, to turn on all my lights to the color blue. Is that possible. All my lights are in one zone and I have a BLUE scene in that zone. Thanks
@Don Gillum - Yes it can do that, when you go to setup it’ll allow you to select the blue scene you just have to specify things like the times you want it triggered.
@@QasimZafar Thanks for the reply. I’ll give it a try. Would you use the hue ‘three times’ routine or another or one I build?
@Don Gillum - You can just use a standard one if you don’t want to have too many triggers.
Really nice video. Question: is it possible that the motion sensor triggers the philips smart plug?
Thanks!
@@QasimZafar Thanks. I will order the sensor. 👍
@Frank - You’re welcome! Do let me know if you need help once you get it 😊.
Can you use the sensor with the philips smart plug?..
@Mohiburkhan Khan - If you’re using HomeKit to automate you can use the sensor to trigger the plug. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
@@QasimZafar qasim appreciate your reply I'm not a apple user im all android is there a android option
@Mohiburkhan Khan - Of course I try my best to get back to everyone 😊. Yes have you heard of ifttt app by any chance? It’s third party and with that you can really customize automations between smart devices.
My lamps go from 75 % random one time a day to 1 %. I've checked everything but I don't know how to fix this. Do you perhaps know how this happened?
@@QasimZafar You explained it just as I needed it!! Thank you so much! This was very helpful:)

@Lindsie - Mine does not, just I’ve occasionally noticed it flash green but upon motion it doesn’t do anything other than activate the lights.
Great video 👍
Quick question, I have a Lutron Dimmer switch that’s connected to a Phillips Hue Bulb, would you recommend me getting the Hue Motion Sensor or the Lurton Sensor?
@Roy Moshkovitz - Thanks for the feedback I’m glad you found the video helpful. I’d say either one would be fine but I haven’t used the Lutron one. The hue sensor will work directly in triggering the bulb and the the lutron I assume will trigger the switch. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.

how to setup when I go in (turn on) and go out (turn off)?
@Ming Nguyen Dang - Once you’ve added your sensor, go to settings>accessories>choose the sensor and now inside here specify daytime hours and an action you’d like so here specify the lights to turn on. Underneath you’ll see “After” that’s where you can specify how many minutes before it performs the action and here you need to select the lights to turn off. Repeat this for the night time hours and you’ll be all set. Now when motion is detected the lights will come on and after the specified amount of minutes and no motion, they’ll turn off. Thanks for watching and do let me know if you have any other questions for me 😊.
@@QasimZafar I want the lights are still on until I leave the room, so no way to do that, right? this sensor is not like a trigger
As long as there’s motion in the room it’ll stay on. The sensor is a trigger it’s what triggers the lights to perform an action. Also with hue formulas you can even do more.

Hey, Mr Zafar! Thank you for the video 😊 i’m wanting to get a motion sensor and place it in the hallway at my home so it’ll turn on all the lights when I get home, but I don’t want the lights to automatically turn off again.
Does it have termometer?
@Yes it can actually read temperature but it will only show if you’re using it with apple home. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽.
My motion sensor exhaust the batteries in only 2 weeks. What is wrong?
@Peter Svendsen - That isn’t normal it could’ve been one that day on the shelf too long, that’s the best guess I’d take at what happened.
And realised that the WIZ products don’t, they go through your wifi on your phone.

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
