One of the reasons I love this sequel is that everyone from the original cast is back which doesn't happen all the time. Weird reason maybe but I tend to get pretty sad when I see cast members change in sequels/series because I get attached to them. 😅
Same. Heck I was happy that even Uncle Frank was back. I however don't have any resentment for 3rd movie cause it's a different family but I hate what they did to 4th movie.
I can see why some people dislike the sequel, it is true that they reuse the same jokes a lot, but I personally don't mind it too much. I feel that they change the jokes just enough to keep it fresh and interesting. Plus, you've got Tim Curry in this one, so that's a win on its own.
Joe Pesci literally had to do all that incoherent muttering because he got so into character that it was the only way he could avoid swearing. On the first movie, he filled up a swear jar in a single day.
6:54 - Keep in mind, this was before 9/11, so airport security was much more lax and people didn't plan to be there two hours before their flight. 16:33 - That is the LEGENDARY Tim Curry. He's a brilliant actor known for Clue, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and many other films. He has a reputation for playing villains. I said in another comment that the first two are the only Home Alone movies worth acknowledging, but it is interesting to note that apparently in the latest one, a grown-up Buzz is a secondary character and he alludes to Kevin directly in one line.
Hearing you guys talk about Tim Curry's Concierge character makes me want to see you guys react to the other projects he's in. Clue, Rocky Horror, It... legitimately one of my favorite actors with an absolutely impressive range
He's also excellent as the Lord of Darkness in "Legend." To get the performance we get after all he had to endure for that role is a testament to the man's talent.
Absolutely! I ADORE Tim Curry! He does have incredible range but plays a fantastic villain! Probably my favorite role of his is Darkness from Legend and Cardinal Richelieu in Disney's The Three Musketeers. Also good is Pirates of the Plain, Rocky Horror (of course), Clue and A Muppet Treasure Island. Due to some health issues, since the mid-90's, he's been more active in voice acting with lots of roles in children's movies and TV series. Among these, I love Hexxus in Fern Gully. His voice is so iconic and rich, I also enjoy listening to audio books voiced by him as well. 🥰🥰
Also literally every cartoon from the late 1980s through the mid 2000s, plus a lot of stuff since. Yes, all of them. He's in it. Him and Jim Cummings. and probably Rob Paulsen, Tony Jay, and Frank Welker.
The scene where they’re handing Kevin’s bag down the row and then back up the row and the mother goes “Kevin’s not here” and then faints is the funniest scene in the entire franchise imo 😂
Not only he did sorcerer’s stone. But, the chamber of secrets, and the prisoner of Azkaban. Including, the end credits from the deathly hallows part 2.
"Grown men go into the park and don't come back alive " Yes. Central Park in New York city is huge and dangerous after dark back then. I don't know if it has gotten better or not, but there were a lot of murders and muggings in Central Park
My favorite home alone movie is hands down lst in New York. My favorite part is right before Kevin throws the bricks and Harry says: "Nothing would please me more greatly then to shoot you!" And in response Kevin just nods in agreement, like as if he was saying, I could see why.
Fun fact for you guys: Fuller, that younger kid who was a crazy bed wetter, was played by Macaulay Culkin's younger brother Kieran so two of the Culkin brothers got to be in the movie. Mack was obviously more well known but a lot of people know that they were brothers
My favorite part is when Kevin remembers to thank the business man selling the necklaces, even when he is literally running for his life. If he can take two seconds to thank someone for helping him, while two grown men are actively trying to kill him, I think everyone else can do the same when doing their holiday shopping.
Honestly out of both movies the second one is my favorite. There's just so much more adventure to it. As a kid, I loved that adventurous feeling of New York with the unlimited ice cream, fresh pizza, and giant toy store. Home Alone 2 will always be my favorite but the 2nd one is good too
The injuries that the villains recieve are so painful, that they should be dead after getting hit in the head with a brick or cinder block or a large steam pipe.
I could never pick a favorite between 1 and 2. Like, I completely understand preferring the first because the sequel does reuse a lot of the plot points and jokes from the original, but there's something just inherently magical about New York at Christmastime. Plus, I feel like the Wet/Sticky Bandits got a lot better one-liners in the sequel (I don't care how many times I hear "wow... what a hole," I will laugh every time). Overall they're just a great one-two punch and I watch them both every year!
I got that talk-boy kevin has in this movie for Christmas when i was about 4, it also had a girl version that came in pink, I'll never forget that. That was my all time favorite Christmas gift as a kid
I remember this movie spawning so many crazy theories about the cast. 1. Some people thought Kevin and Marv were the result of a superhuman experiment because that’s the only way to explain how they didn’t die. 2. A bunch of people thought Kevin grew up and became the killer from the SAW movies. Obviously both are not true, but it’s hilarious to think about.
While this will always be a classic to me, one of the issues that started to show in this one were the goings on in Macaulay Culkin's personal life starting to trickle through into his performance. At this stage his family fell apart over his fortune & fame with his parents fighting over his custody -and financials. All that stress and pressure really started to show in Culkin's performances over the years as he just went through the motions and did what was expected of him. His story is an interesting if sad one. Thankfully he's since gotten his life together again.
Home Alone 2 is important because it finished Kevin's growth. If it left off at the first, he would still be a bit of a shit. But now he's learned to not only stop judging by looks, but to be selfless.
love when they notice Kevin didn't take their flight and it is the dad who is the only one paying attention to the "Kevin's not here", even though it was the mom who heard it before him (and also told him) and also had "that feeling"🤣
2 has been my absolute favourite since childhood. Even though it recycles and redoes jokes and plot points, there's just something extra magical about it. Obv new York Christmas is special. And then there is the airports and planes, and the idea of a kid using a grown up credit card to do whatever you want, buy whatever you want, go chill in a hotel by yourself and outsmart adults, it is all uber appealing.
Poor Tim Curry, so many people don't recognize him. However, if you are familiar with the original IT- he's Pennywise :) Also, Rocky Horror Picture Show Please watch Clue, he's in it and it's hysterical, very fast paced witty humor. Edit: aw how could you leave out the slap and his 🥺 face lol
I'm In Color Guard, so every time we have to get our flag bags off the truck or out of the closet we do a thing called "Pass it to Kevin." We just say "Pass it to Kevin!" as we passed the bag down the line so it's easier and quicker to get our flag bags. It's just so funny. 😂
I still got my Talkboy. It was the hottest toy after this movie came out. It was only $30, but back then, that was a lot of money. I watch HA 1 and 2 every year for the holidays. It's my little tradition. 🤗 Ps. Fun fact. For around 30k, you can get the Home Alone experience a package offered by the Plaza Hotel. Limo ride to movie locations, ice cream, pizza, etc. I wish I could afford it. 🙄
I enjoy this one better, it has everything a kid would want. A limo, a hotel room, junk food, a big toy store, adventure, a clown 😂 and you're very own cheese pizza. Also this Xmas just seems better and look at those presents.
As for the room service bill, the people in the hotel acknowledged Kevin booking the room was considered doing so with a stolen credit card. So any charges he made they cant charge him for, and once the family got there management compt. Them the room so everything was free. Cant charge them that bill.
I honestly don't know if they are allowed to make them pay or not for it, but they could have sent the bill just so the parents knew how much Kevin's holiday could cost if the staff didn't figure it out and they could have some laugh over the boy while getting yelled at
I especially enjoyed the ending of this movie more than the ending in the first one. The part where Kevin gets saved by the 'Pigeon lady' is even more enjoyable than when he's saved by 'Old Man' Marley, in the first one. Harry and Marv being arrested is more enjoyable in this one too. Kevin reunited with his family is more enjoyable in this one as well.
this is my favorite by far. the traps are superior, I feel like the stakes are higher and I just love the feel of NYC at Christmas time. I like what you said about it being a love letter to New York because it definitely feels that way to me too. great reaction guys! ❤️
Actually - the stakes are less high, cuz Harry and Marv could have just walked away with the bag of chase while Kevin was on the roof and disappeared into the night!
19:07 The pigeons got him in the end! And in the first movie when the family is in France the are watching TV and, "It's a Wonderful Life" is playing in French
Actually "Home Alone 3" is really underrated movie. Especially because I think none of cast of first two is in it. But it has same humor and if you would look on movie totally ignoring expectations of first two you would love it. Macaulay Calkin was almost trademark for that movie and since Home Alone 3 was made around 6-7 years after second they could not used him then. But it is funny movie worth watching for a good laughs.
6:30 pretty much sums up most of the movie's tone. Also I wonder if a clown that makes kids float being used against Tim Curry was some kind of joke as well.
Both movies are great, but I like the 2nd one better. Tim curry, the rest of the hotel staff, New York setting, seeing Kevin out and about etc. loved it more
"Hey, Kev. Remember when I held up those candles behind your head during the christmas play?" "Yeah, and then I knocked over all the kids and the cardboard tree fell on top of the lady's head?" "Aaaah, good times."
I can see people liking this one less because Kevin is a lot more Sadistic, actively luring and attacking the criminals instead of deterring them BUT this one is matched with 1 fm the traps (especially the skeleton) always crack me up
The criminals are literally trying to kill Kevin. At the least he's defending himself. And at the most he's stopping them from robbing the toy store and thusly stopping them from robbing from poor kids. How are people so stupid?
My favorite part is when James didn't recognize the iconic Tim Curry!!!😂😂😂 Penny Wise, The Rocky Horror Picture Show... Come on! The man is a Legend!😃👑👏 Haha love you James😁💜✌
3:00 Here in Australia, we use fake Christmas trees, that you have to assemble from a kit. The branches even have colour-coded pegs so you know where to insert them.
The family's house is in Chicago, not Boston, and the airport is Chicago O'Hare. The French guy is dubbed in Spanish in the French version. Film was made 9 years before 9/11. Trump was the owner of the Plaza back then he let the team film in the hotel at the sole condition he made a gratuitous cameo. Kinda non canon fun fact, the pigeon lady's first love was supposed to be Mr Duncan himself.
The fire one was great but this home alone is definitely my favorite they used the budget for this movie was very well used and the music score is such nostalgia . Happy new year guys.
13:40 Not random at all, in fact. He owned the hotel, at the time, and agreed to allow the crew to shoot there for almost no charge, if they let him have that cameo. And in that cameo, he lies to a child. He tells Kevin to go down the hall to the left, to find the lobby. Kevin goes down the hall to the right, and ends up in the lobby. 🤣
This the best Home Alone. The thing about Central Park is , yes its a scary place more so at night. For people have been murdered there a lot of the time.
This movie was made and set in the early 90s. It's really hard to say which movie is my favorite between the two since I view them as one experience but if I had to choose, the first one I like a little better. I enjoy both of these movies and I grew up watching them almost every year around Christmas.
Some of the music while Kevin preps the house for the baddies to arrive is straight Hedwig's Theme from Harry potter if you listen carefully. I think that's the part. Since this was filmed years before potter, seems John Williams really loved that line of music he wrote and made the potter theme out of it.
what y'all saw in the toilet was actually paint thinner my dad recognized the multi-color label in the movie because he worked for Lowe's for almost twenty years.
I love the second one the most because on Tim Curry as well as the electrocution scene lol. Idk why, even as a kid, I was dying of laughter at that part
In real life, actor Macaulay Culkin IS from New York City, where his recurring character, Kevin McCallister was lost in, taking on the burglars he faced once before!!!!
This one is my favourite. I always saw this on TV when I was young so never saw the first one until I was older and think I’ve still only seen it the once.
I saw"Home Alone 2"before"Home Alone"and it's possible that it's part of the reason I've always liked it more, but I don't think it's just that. There are several differences between the 2nd and the 1st that just make the 2nd better,IMO. For example,I find the speech Kevin gives the Pidgeon Lady much more moving and enlightening than his simple:"You really should talk to your son."to the Old Man.
Watching this following up the Home Alone 1 reaction video back to back. Thanks a lot guys that was fun! And I love seeing you guys really enjoying the movie. Chris Columbus, John Williams, stellar performances by the actors, this is just a perfect movie for the holidays. Btw, I think the McCallisters live in Chicago.
I’m on a holiday movie fix and loving these (not sure how I missed this one for so long!) Home Alone 2 is up there on my list, in fact I prefer it over the first probably because of the exciting atmosphere. Thanks for giving us so many laughs with this reaction. 😂
I know I am 11 months late but yes the toy store is real. That was FAO Schwartz in NYC. It closed in 2015. They have reopened a new one in Rockefeller plaza in 2018. They also filmed parts of Big at FAO Schwarz.
First of all this is my list of the home alone films I like from best to least. 1. Home Alone 2 Lost In New York 2. Home Alone 3. Home Alone 3 & Home Sweet Home Alone 4. Home Alone 5 The Holiday Heist 5. Home Alone 4 Taking Back The House Second of all, I prefer the sequel just because I love the idea of New York. I love the song all alone for Christmas which plays as Kevin’s New York montage. I love how they go the extra mile with the traps. And fall instantly in love with the bird lady’s moments with Kevin. If you love that actress who plays her, check out Angels in the outfield with Christopher Lloyd. Finally, if you were choosing to react to sequels I would only recommend number three because it’s a different story and has different characters and I love how they create a different situation for the kids being home alone. And the recent new one by Disney. Only because it’s nostalgic to the first two, and it’s has a unique take on with the villains.
I recorded this movie on VHS back in the day from TV and the second time they run into the woman on the street was not on there, finally I know what happened :D as a kid I always was scared of the Taxi driver
Like last time I was Kevin's age when this movie came out, which was early 90s, aka prior to 9/11. Like many who remember this movie, this one IS bittersweet because of the Twin Towers.
I'm probably one of the few people on the planet that LIKES Home Alone 3. It IS a different family, but the pretext for the kid being alone is much more believable and less "call CPS" worthy lol. Also, he's not dealing with two-bit burglars, but actual international criminals. Which is the more contrived part of the plot. The child doesn't have Macaulay Culkin's expressiveness, but not every child is that dramatic so it's not really bad acting. Just a more reserved kid.
I personally like the third one although I am very much surprised that I keep seeing people saying they don't like the third or the fourth HA movies. Although I share the same views for the fourth movie, I do like the third one though (of course, personal opinion). Home Alone 1 and 2 (for me) are generally great because they're like the classics with the original casts so I can't really rank them. But I sort of have a soft spot for the third movie. I'm not gonna spoil too much about it (in case you guys decided to react to it) but they used a different character called Alex for the kid who's "home alone" and he's so sweet. Points that I like better, no annoying extended family condemning over the youngest in the big family, they have professional criminals for the bad guys, and like I said, the Alex character is soooo sweet. Bonus point, there's a glimpse of scarlett johansson when she was young as Alex's sister. As for the fourth movie, I don't like the fact that they used the names of characters in movie 1 and 2 (Kevin, Buzz, Marv etc.) + trying to relate things back to the first 2 movies but then did not use the original casts. Sort of spoil the movie for me. Anyway, glad you guys enjoy the movie!!!!
Interesting Fact: The VHS movies that Kevin watches in the first and second Home Alone aren't actually real movies. The scenes he watches were shot just for Home Alone 1 & 2. However they were inspired by the movie Angels with Dirty Faces.
Nah, I loved the second one better. The differences between the first and the second were all improvements. The second one made the traps much better, the music was better, there was more moving parts since its not just home, I just prefer it.
Gotta admit, this was my first run through of this movie in over a decade. It still makes me smile (and for a bunch of reasons) I really needed that tonight. If you haven't already seen them, Unaccompanied Minors, I'll Be Home For Christmas and Are We There Yet are 3 more lighthearted shows. If you want a true throwback, try Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Frosty ' s Winter Wonderland and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer (these were classics when I was a kid... claymation at its finest.)
One of the reasons I love this sequel is that everyone from the original cast is back which doesn't happen all the time. Weird reason maybe but I tend to get pretty sad when I see cast members change in sequels/series because I get attached to them. 😅

Both movies are great, but I like the 2nd one better. Tim curry, the rest of the hotel staff, New York setting, seeing Kevin out and about etc. loved it more
Kevin and Biff honestly seem like two siblings that would get along the best once they became adults.
"Hey, Kev. Remember when I held up those candles behind your head during the christmas play?"
"Yeah, and then I knocked over all the kids and the cardboard tree fell on top of the lady's head?"
"Aaaah, good times."
I can see people liking this one less because Kevin is a lot more Sadistic, actively luring and attacking the criminals instead of deterring them
BUT this one is matched with 1 fm the traps (especially the skeleton) always crack me up
Yes
We want to see him attack lol They deserve it
Sadistic?, geez what it with people sensitivity now.
@@LarryBonson Right?
The criminals are literally trying to kill Kevin. At the least he's defending himself. And at the most he's stopping them from robbing the toy store and thusly stopping them from robbing from poor kids. How are people so stupid?
Always loved how this is more or less a beat by beat remake yet expands on the formula even better imo
My favorite part is when James didn't recognize the iconic Tim Curry!!!😂😂😂 Penny Wise, The Rocky Horror Picture Show... Come on! The man is a Legend!😃👑👏 Haha love you James😁💜✌
Lol, I knew him growing up as "Rooster" from Annie!
Clue as well! One of my favorite roles that he did
"The man is Legend!" was that intended to be a pun, because I love him in Legend. lol Also Clue.
3:00 Here in Australia, we use fake Christmas trees, that you have to assemble from a kit. The branches even have colour-coded pegs so you know where to insert them.
I love this one better, but the humor is still great in both
The family's house is in Chicago, not Boston, and the airport is Chicago O'Hare.
I'm still amazed at the confusion of you guys not being sure this was filmed before 9/11, like come on!!!
Fake news CNN: Trump lies to defenseless child, caught on video.
The vast amount of Twin Towers images in movies is eerie.
I love it when he screamed No! 30:23
Some of the music while Kevin preps the house for the baddies to arrive is straight Hedwig's Theme from Harry potter if you listen carefully. I think that's the part. Since this was filmed years before potter, seems John Williams really loved that line of music he wrote and made the potter theme out of it.
i hope you will react to Jingle All The Way with Arnold Schwarzenegger it is a fun movie
what y'all saw in the toilet was actually paint thinner my dad recognized the multi-color label in the movie because he worked for Lowe's for almost twenty years.
Anticipating the reaction to the cameo I just remembered is in this movie :p
16:34 that guy's face is so familiar because he was pennywise in the Old IT movie
It sure was eerie how the one guy predicted the movie would be about Kevin getting lost in New York. O :
I love the second one the most because on Tim Curry as well as the electrocution scene lol. Idk why, even as a kid, I was dying of laughter at that part
As far as I know the toy store is the real Hemleys but they didn't want their name in the movie so they changed the name, might be wrong
"I thought this was actually in the 2000s" was my favorite part
If I am not mistaken, the man who gave Kevin directions to the lobby owned the Plaza hotel at the time. So not really very random at all.
That's Donald Trump lol :D
@@RedRoseSeptember22 We don't speak his name
That's correct. Donald Trump owned the Plaza until like 1997.
@@eleven-hopper He was more respected in the 90s.

Now I inexplicably want a sticky bandit pastry.
I enjoyed this one more than the original, but I think the best _Home Alone_ movie is a mixture between the original and this one.
Me too.
My favorite is home alone 3
I know I am 11 months late but yes the toy store is real. That was FAO Schwartz in NYC. It closed in 2015. They have reopened a new one in Rockefeller plaza in 2018. They also filmed parts of Big at FAO Schwarz.
First of all this is my list of the home alone films I like from best to least.
1. Home Alone 2 Lost In New York
2. Home Alone
3. Home Alone 3 & Home Sweet Home Alone
4. Home Alone 5 The Holiday Heist
5. Home Alone 4 Taking Back The House
Second of all, I prefer the sequel just because I love the idea of New York.
I recorded this movie on VHS back in the day from TV and the second time they run into the woman on the street was not on there, finally I know what happened :D
as a kid I always was scared of the Taxi driver
Sticky bandits really does sound like a pastry.
Like last time I was Kevin's age when this movie came out, which was early 90s, aka prior to 9/11. Like many who remember this movie, this one IS bittersweet because of the Twin Towers.
The toy store is based on a real one called fao schwarz toy store
I'm probably one of the few people on the planet that LIKES Home Alone 3. It IS a different family, but the pretext for the kid being alone is much more believable and less "call CPS" worthy lol. Also, he's not dealing with two-bit burglars, but actual international criminals. Which is the more contrived part of the plot. The child doesn't have Macaulay Culkin's expressiveness, but not every child is that dramatic so it's not really bad acting. Just a more reserved kid.
31:58 the brick noise when Kev throw it hahaha
One of the best Christmas classic! Love it, and I love that you guys knew nothing about it
i had the talkboy (the tape recorder) when i was younger. i wish i kept it. it's so iconic.
Tim Curry although having a small role makes a statement in this film
I really love the 3rd movie. It could be because it was the first one I watched as a kid so I have a soft spot for it, but 1 and 2 are better.

Omg this is the the first time I've someone having exact same point of view as me regards 3rd and 4th movie.
Tim Curry is iconic and deserves all the love. Maybe you should react to some of his other roles, Clue, Rocky Horror…the original IT. He’s a legend.
i had a talkboy as a kid it was blue it was so cool at the time the 90's what a time to be a kid!
Interesting Fact: The VHS movies that Kevin watches in the first and second Home Alone aren't actually real movies. The scenes he watches were shot just for Home Alone 1 & 2. However they were inspired by the movie Angels with Dirty Faces.
You guys should watch Tim Currys other roles for sure. He's legendary
Nah, I loved the second one better. The differences between the first and the second were all improvements. The second one made the traps much better, the music was better, there was more moving parts since its not just home, I just prefer it.
15:34 This scene was shot at the Four Seasons in Chicago, Illinois, because the Plaza Hotel doesn't have a swimming pool located on-site.
You guys should definitely react to “Home Alone 3”!!! Its epic!
They sold those video cameras when this movie came out. I remember I got one for Christmas. Home alone branded toy
Watching home alone with a cheesy pizza 🍕🧀 and ice cream 🍨 is a whole mood!
I got to see the Home Alone house irl but honestly I like the house next door better lol
