I was 13 years old when this was released in 1977. I loved it immediately and, more than 40 years later, it remains my favorite Pink Floyd album. I'm happy that you're sharing your first listen with us. :-)

I was born in 1974 so obviously, I was 3 years old in '77 when this dropped and my parents told me they listened to Meddle and DSOTM, before I was born So I think Pink Floyd is in my blood....Animals is my all-time favorite album and Dogs is my favorite song....It makes me smile when I see younger people discovering the genius of Pink Floyd for the first time....Thank you....

The animals; dogs, pigs and sheep all relate to different groups of people. You have good insight about the concept of the album. I get a kick out of watching your reactions. So glad you discovered Pink Floyd.

Absolute masterpiece of an album, dogs is the greatest song of all time in my opinion, class.
I loved this video. Animals was the album that got me hooked on Pink Floyd. I love watching you listen and your reactions. I wish you could have seen them live, you would have loved it.

hahahaha, that was amazing man. I remember my dad showing me his goosebumps in the car when Floyd came over the radio, now I'm 35 and I too get goosebumps when listening to Floyd.
I recommend you a reaction to the one that is probably their most underrated album ever, the beautiful "Obscured by clouds", 1972
This is Pink Floyd's masterwork, and my absolute favorite!!
As you hear more rock greats, you'll hear many great guitarists and we're lucky for that. Check out Eddie Van Halen, "Eruption" for instance, it'd be great for you to react to. I don't think though, you'll ever find any that can bring more pure emotion to a guitar solo than Mr. Gilmour. Fun fact, a month ago Gilmour auctioned off 127 guitars from his collection at Christies for 21 million dollars, all proceeds to charity. One in particular, which he played in every Floyd album, sold for just under 4 million, the highest price ever paid for a single guitar at auction.

Why do you think we are the way we are my dude? For me, I was 11 and 12 when I started listening to Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Yes, Jimi and Janis. This molded my young consciousness and it is all deep. Syd Barrett, yes he lost his mind, bless his heart.
The concept is utterly political and you totally get it. But Pink Floyd has a sense of humor and they put it all under the umbrella of a toy pig balloon. Think Animal Farm by George Orwell, this is the music to the book lol

i'm going to blow your mind, now. Pink Floyd made this album to be a commercial FAILURE, because they wanted to get out of a recording deal with the people they were contracted with. this was how they did it to FAIL. that blows my mind every time i hear it. genius can't help but be great.
as to how can 4 guys make something like this? well, Roger Waters is the genius behind almost all of the ideas and the lyrics, since Syd Barrett left. David Gilmour and Richard Wright composed the music between them.

What we’ve come to expect from Pink Floyd-a concept album.
sheep is the best song of this album,dogs in Second.
the concept of the album was inspired by the book Animal Farm by George Orwell (the same guy who wrote 1984 and created the concept of Big Brother).
These book are a quick read but extremely well written. If you have the chance to read them it is an eye opener one some sad realities of life (political dominance).
Reading Animal Farm also gave me another level of understanding on Animals.

Dogs in the "In the flash - roger waters" is awesome too. Theres a Guy that sing that song and he plays with Pink Floyd in Pulse Tour too. Nowadays he is playing with Gilmour again.

If you haven’t heard it yet, you should really listen to Umma Gumma for the first time on video and record your reaction - you will LAUGH YOUR ARSE OFF once it gets going, and you’ll be like WTF IS THIS??? 🤣😂. Seriously, you gotta do one for that, will be GREAT!

As a good Catholic boy growing up, we were a bit scandalized by Sheep, which contains a parody of the 23rd psalm....Overall, not one of my fave PF albums, but even mediocre Floyd is better than most rock music in my book. Great reaction..

70's Floyd is the sweet spot and Animals was their prime time when Roger was the creative boss and force of the band.
This album is loosely based on George Orwell's political fable Animal Farm. The album's lyrics describe various classes in society as different kinds of animals: the combative dogs, the despotic ruthless pigs, and the "mindless and unquestioning herd" of sheep. Roger Waters (bassist & singer) wrote the lyrics and comes up with the concepts and direction of the band and David Gilmour (guitarist & main singer) usually steals the show.

Great reaction! Animals is in my top 3 Pink Floyd's albums, such a great body of work. You should definitely check some classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who, etc. They have absolutely amazing albums, most of them are certified classics. And if you like Pink Floyd I think you will also appreciate such bands as King Crimson, Jhetro Tull, Genesis and Rush, all of them are great prog rock bands
