- In this video, we go through the process of manually setting the FMS up in the Boeing 747 in MS FS2020. Some work with the MCP is covered as well as how to deal with in flight changes.
I love how the jet bridge is going through your aircraft at the beginning :)
Love it, notice the gear is down and probably the reason for different v ref speeds .
I have stopped bothering flying the default airplanes. They are bugge like hell, you never know when the next flaw hits. Totally insane.
World scenery is superb in fs2020. And that is all. Airplanes are much more real in fsx.
@@MarkoBacnik insane how fsx is more of a drag on the system
super helpful video, you literally put everything i was looking for in one video. Thanks man!
Thank you for this explanation! Very detailed and east to follow
On my version of MSFS 2020 they have recently updated. There are many new fields that can be populated. Any chance of updating your video?
On the auto take off you did. I notice you set the speed to V2. If you do not engage AP how does the auto throttle work with take off? I noticed once you hit AP the VNAV speed took over? Can you explain that a little bit. Thank you! Keep these videos coming!
There has been an update! Can you please do another video. You explain everything pretty well!
Thanks, that really helped me at getting started with the FMS!
Please do the a320 fbw version. This is amazing!
A320 FBW I bet is the easiest commercial plane, even the ILS is easy. I recommend watching the FBW tutorial series by AviationJack, he goes over everything you need to know including the MCDU I’ll attach a link: ua-cam.com/play/PL3G9-xOb8yj-Rr_lIU2FJmM_ZxMyagQrd.html
Great video! I was able to watch and then execute a pretty (ok mostly!) crash free flight from KLAX to KSFO using United 1550 flight plan! Great job, keep them coming!
I appreciate your youtube videos much. Don't forget to explain the Dreamliner in detail too.
I'm coming after I land, mom!!
This is going to take another 20 minutes, mom!!
Best FMS tutorial ever!
I just make the flight plan in game use the ifr flight planner use the auto assits until it starts asking me to expedite flight climb to a certain altitude then I just disengage assist mode engage manual auto pilot to obtain the atcs desired altitude until I reach my destination at that point I just wait until the approach point where I just engage the assits again until the last 500 ft to touch down works everytime 150 hrs in 4 days 😀
Set the altitude knob to where they tell you to go, then hit the VS button thats just to the left of the knob. Then to the left of that button, scroll the wheel *down* until the number hits +1800.
Alternatively, what I do, once you have the altitude set, hit the "FL CH" button that's over by the airspeed stuff.
If you find that you can't get the aircraft to climb--at least not very fast--after doing either of those, you need to set a lower airspeed. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but what's happening is that the autopilot is trying to maintain speed while climbing. When it's being asked for a lot of speed, there's very little engine power left to be able to climb.
I get "2nd index not valid" when trying to punch in the waypoint after an airway, I got the route from simbrief so it should be good. Any tips?
So if MSFS 2020 has implemented into their game large parts of a functioning FMS, and large parts of a functioning autopilot, and large parts of functioning aerodynamics and system state, and did all this for various airplane models and types, and hooked all this up to a realistic map and weather and graphics, and made it multi-player, and put all this into a box that sits on your desk, for not a heck of a lot of money... that would be pretty cool, yeah?
Interesting, so the PAPI lights don't look like they're programmed for the three white when on glideslope.
So here's a question, not sure of this is a glitch inside of the current build or whatnot(also have no idea what I'm doing, so there's that) : my flight will not automatically lower from Cruise Altitude, and the DECEL waypoint seems WAY TOO close to the airport if it was going to. Seems like I need to set a gentle decent as a manual intervention a few waypoints before DECEL just to get maybe low enough for the Approach.
Excellent video, thank you!!
GREAT video - well done and much appreciated.
@PGatcomb Why did you have to initiate a go around? Is that because you wanted to be reallistic? In FS I often had cases (due to my incompetence, I guess), when the AP suddenly decided to apply full trust in Airbus (after touching the ground, and yes, I know I shoudln't be doing that:) but it was always enough to just disable AP and AT quickly, pull thrust to idle and land a "couple of meters" ;) further down the runway. Also - what did you do to initiate a go-around? That was pretty fast. To you have a key binding for TO/GA? BTW - awesome tutorial.
Just had o worst landing approach of my life. I've had 4 or more go-around to finally land manually (thanfully good weather;) I think MS FS doesn't sent reasonable speed, and I turned up with perfect GS but without the ability to retract landing gear 😱When I finally managed to enter the speed into the apporach plan, it dind't decend according to the GS. Oh, man, I'm glad the passengers are allive, but with coffee stains all across their clothes :D
The speed I had duing the "perfect" apporach was more than 200 knots I think, but the grear refused to retract. Is there some way to make this flight plan reasonable without having to fight the computer at the last moment?
Great video, enjoyed it, however, as I am new pilot, it was too fast for, I wish you do a step by step video for beginners.
Best tutorial I’ve found thanks a lot.
I only just started the video but I am losing it at all the planes jammed through the jetways and the entire terminal building missing that is the most messed up international airport I've seen in the game yet 😂
And without comment. Just going about the video. hahahaha
Regarding the mach / knots bug if you bind an input to 'set AP managed speed in Mach off' it's possible to switch back, at least in the A320 Neo.
while you change your altitude in FL CH mode you need to set spoilers at detent position to descend quickly without gaining speed and disconnecting auto throttle
What's your background? Are you a commercial pilot? Really enjoying your videos. Thanks man!
I think he's PPL. He is very familiar with smaler AC and mentioned something like that in earlier vids
Very good and helpful tutorial. Thanks for that. Looks as if you spend quite some time in the 747 cockpit. ---- May I ask you a question? When I do an ILS landing everything works out perfect, except the fact that the other 2 autopilot control lamps do not switch on when I push the APP button. ----- Any idea what I do wrong?
I was unable to enter MXE as a waypoint. I get the message "2ND INDEX NOT FOUND". I have the deluxe version of FS2020, does this mean I have to buy some add on 747? Also, in LEGS I get FLundefined beside each one.
Many thanks. Your tips have been very useful.
how do I enter the fligh tlevel and speed for a specific waypoint?
I did the way you did it but it showed nothing on the map
Every thing I do with the others just dont work
Same here my guy. I've watched at least 20 videos today doing step by step. Pausing a hundred times and shit just don't show up. Even bought the subscription for navigraph. I thought it was just me.
A noob question, but how do you spot an airway over a usual waypoint? Do the normal waypoints (Nuggy for e.g.) only have letters. I'm following your guide and a few waypoints have letters, then numbers.
I am having the same problem...
When I enter a destination my map in the plane stays blank and I have no clue where to go, how do I fix this?
When I set flaps the numbers still don’t change and the green execute light gets stuck
Nice explanation thank you so much! Unfortunately when doing this on a Boeing plane on MSFS2020 on Xbox from a cold start, I get the black avionics screens bug. Go figure..... anyways, would you create a similar video for the Airbus FMS too? =)
I get that same bug whenever i enter the VFR map. Such a pain.
For some reason - and why I looked up this video - when I set the flaps in the FMS (and on the actual plane as instructed) my V Criticals don't auto populate
Ope figured it out, had to click the soft buttons on the V Criticals after setting flaps on the FMS and the aircraft
I'm so glad at least some of the weird behavior is just bugs in the sim, which hopefully will disappear in future. Particularly auto-throttle and mach switch...
I have one question: Is it possible to program also the cruise speed into the FMS? I guess it depends on the cost index, but I do not know, what values should be used here either :-)
when I type MXE after VIA Q75, it saids 2ND INDEX NOT FOUND.....
Same here.
What happens if the fms screen is just black. Like it looks on just nothing is on it
Go to 17:20 . Suppose ATC clears us direct to BAINS. In the real airplane, you would just line select BAINS to the scratchpad, put it in L1 and Execute. But that doesn't seem to work in the sim???
how did you get the screen to show all the green stuff? 21:46 looks like weather or terrain
Turn on WXR & TERR. Found above the monitor.
Thank you!
does the "hold" function work or not?
Hi, I have the default aircraft and i was wondering how do i get all the buttons functional?
Tks for the answer!
Pierre
How do you differentiate between a jetway and a waypoint?
A jetway is the bridge-like thing you use to board a plane, a waypoint is a point on a flight route
So let’s go ahead and program this sucker... hahahahaha.... brilliant
I'm planning on buy FS2020 (coming from years of X-plane) Does 2020 come with this 747? I cannot believe the scenery, photorealistic wow.
yes it does
Great video mate!. I got a question though. When I tried to delete some of the USR way points for a more direct final approach the flight path turned from magenta to yellow and I could not figure out how to bring it back ( yes I did activate /execute). Also the USR were still there. Maybe you can do a video on this :)
Same here. This guy doesn' want to answer questions. It is one thing to "throw" another video on the scene. The other is to care about the subject. But maybe he also dose'nt know the answeres...?
do you know why when i enter a flight plan and look at my VFR map the line/flight plan doesn't load? please help!
Please help.i have a white line on my gps that allines with the purple line during my flight. How do i get rid of this white line. Because it throws me of track
Could you do this for the A320 (better A32NX Mod by flybywire) aswell?
320 Sim Pilot has lots of similar videos with the A320 and the flybywire mod.
How do you fly direct in the 747?
He shows it near the beginning, just set your origin and destination, that will plot a direct route.
4:20 How can I find a route like this? I tried but I can't see any route....
When i use the in-game flight planner, the speeds and altitudes are usually broken?
Why have you used a question mark at the end of a statement? It's not a question that you asked. Just wondering.
why cant autopilot control things like flaps and speed break
15:27 Landing gear up?
Yeah? What’s the problem? 🤨
Wish I could figure out what I am doing wrong.
im late but i love you
Can I ask why you say Tree instead of Three?
Aviators often speak “pilot English” to avoid miscommunications over radio transmission. “Tree” for instance, means three, “fife” is the number five and “niner” means nine. Hope this helps :)
All i learnt was that there are a whole lotta things don't work in this fs2020.
Great video as always but i got to say that im a bit disappointed by ms. Sure great platform and everything. But basically all the stuff you mentioned as 'not in this version' DOES even work on several free fsx addons. Like the vspeeds a proc page for example. Pretty basic calculations behind those. So no magic would have to be done by devs
🔥
How do you know what waypoints to enter and what not to?
you can use a VFR map but he used a website that shows what real airlines fly and it shows their waypoints
Use simbrief
On the flight simulator map, you can have Microsoft setup a route for you, for an airliner like this, select "high altitude". Or you can find a route like he did by going to websites like flightaware or skyvector or simbrief and having them give you a route that you'll then manually put into the fms computer.
Ksfo 28R departure
Is there a seatbelt sign?
Yes seat belts and cabin chime are just to the right of the pilot seat, just 1 panel below the COMM panel.
@@michaelfulton1080 Thanks bro
excellent tutorial, next time little slower please. Thanks
You move so fast in the video I can not see half of what your clicking on. Your all over the place. Would be a great video if you went slower. I did learn some stuff from you though. But ledt searching else where for help. Sorry
Agree. Also skips over certain important information with things like "how do you know which is an airway or not?" Things like that should be covered. You can't just go "I know this is an airway so I am putting it on the other side".
12:01 my speeds are not populating. Why?
I will send you a video link the solve that problem it's a long video but it's somewhat towards the beginning
ua-cam.com/video/dn-E_DthblA/v-deo.htmlsi=AZ0ptNfEIPBYGxdU
the 747 wont follow a flight plan, i basically copied everything you did and , still it just flew where it wanted
Are you sure you had auto pilot and LNAV enabled?
It is bugged like hell, a total disaster.
I had no problems with it. But with that being said, I am using the Salty Simulations B747-8. This aircraft is free for PC users (unfortunately, unavailable on Xbox platforms). I recommend this B747-8 over the default one due to less bugs and more realism as far as planning a route goes.
Although your presentation was interesting, you speak so fast that it is difficult for us to understand you.
Slo down man.
I think maybe you’re just a little slow..
Ksan 27 runway
👍
You seem like you know what you're talking. but you need to slow down because you're trying to teach us something. you talk so fast and your cursing moves so rapidly a person cannot keep up with you after about 20 seconds they just give up that's why you're not getting more content people. You sound competent but your speed is not one that teaches.
Just pause the video while you attempt the last instruction.
@@mariusfrost640 Well, then you would have to do so every 5 or so seconds. That's not really the point of a "how to do" video.
You can always slow down the video itself--if you'd like him to talk half as fast, just set the speed to 0.5x.
Noothing works

Tree tree 🌳 lol

Send to me direct link to download these game
just STOP! say three and stop sayn tree! you might as well say dog or cat@ land runway 1 dog 4 ? realty
tree is actually the correct way to say it but nobody really follows it cause it does in fact sound silly
its acutally the correct term to say it if ur a real pilot but I guess he didnt need to sya but it is the correct way to say it, also 9 pilots say niner instead of nine so yea
how do you make "direct to the fix"
How do you type it in when your in mid air ?
I can't get the map on the pfd to rotate with the plane, it always stays pointing north
