I remember these dancers I remember them being called legs & co very pretty girls back them when I used to watch top of the pops back at school as a teenager
Thanks, I thought that a bit odd too! By 1976 I'd guess that 80 to 90 percent of UK homes had a telephone line (or knew someone who did). The BBC's view was that one should never 'assume' anything - so they played it safe!
UKGOLD edited the competition out in this episode. however it was edited out on the 21/10/76 episode. But the EinsFestival versions are mainly uncut at the moment, but let's hope they show 1977 later in the year.
Thanks for your comment! Pauline was lovely - in fact they all were! I was especially fond of Sue & Rosie. Sadly, political correctness has spoiled TV!
@Ampex196 Well this edition is going to be re-shown again on BBC FOUR on the 17th of November. as the DOG will be on the left this time and they will leave the competition details unedited.
The episode exists but the announcement was delayed by a week because of the large number of entries - see "Rock n' Me" by the Steve Miller band. The actual episode with the naming was wiped by the BBC.
probably more keeping up with the times than political correctness. they did fit in with the fun and kitschness of the 70s but when times vastly changed in the space of a few years in time for the 80s music wasnt kitsch anymore and they were out of place and stuck in the 70s. imagine if they were still there in the late 80s what would they have danced to. but this is my opinion. not nessaceraly the common one.
Fantastic dancers, miss them all soooooooo much, wish i could speak to them.
