My grandpa gave me his 9N. I remember him teaching me how to drive it, bushhog and hooking sleds to it at winter and having a blast.
RIP Dwight. I had the pleasure to meet Dwight and buy some stuff from him for my Ford restoration. He was a great guy with an impressive collection!!!
It’s interesting to see that how farmers all over world are connected with a common name and that is ford ..here in India its a still very famous among farmers ..my grandfather bought a ford 3600 model in 1982 and he always was proud of his tractor .its sad to see that ford left the tractor section
With a lot of these videos being 20 to 25 years old it's sad to know a lot of these great guys are gone, Dwight, Darius Harms, Herb Wessel, John Hedgepeth, Lavern Grief, Walter Keller, Don Hershey, JR Gyger and others I'm certainly forgetting about, may they all RIP.
I am not a Ford car buff. Even so, I give Ford full credit for their tractors and trucks.

Carsten Anderson - ford made tractors with 3 point hitch long before ww11 ! 9n was first then 2n during the war and then the 8n . The 2n was made without rubber tires and a hand crank motor because all copper went for the war effort as well as rubber.
Ford used Harry Fergusson's patent Draft Control Hydraulics under licence from Fergusson. This was a great improvement on Three Point Linkage Hydraulics fitted to earlier tractors
@@skylinevspec000. The 8N and the TE and TO20 series Tractors both started in late 1947 . Harry Ferguson took His Patented Hitch system away from Ford to use on the TO20. Ford went ahead and continued using it anyway. Ferguson sued but, due to the inefficiency of a Court it wasn’t settled until 1952. At this point, the Court ordered Ford to stop production of the 8N. Had Ford abided by Harry Ferguson’s order, the 8N series would’ve never been built.

This is my all time favorite tractor when my great grandfather passed away I inherited our farms first tractor I use it as much as I can my grandpa great grandpa and I restored many tractors together most of the tractors are 3 or 4 times older than me but still pull there wait on the farm

Wife just surprised me yesterday and got me a 46 2 n tractor for Christmas....runs great but needs a paint job
I have a Ford 41300s utility tractor with a front end loader and a Wain-Roy backhoe. Inline gas 4 cylinder engine plus it is a 12 speed! One center shift 4 speed lever and a left side shift lever; low, medium, high (12 speeds). No rear three point hitch, PTO, and no internal parts for the hitch. Backhoe attaches by clamps. This tractor, engine block, left side stamp reads 41300 S and under that (looks to me as) 58132 ◇. It now has a alternator, exhaust system, carburetor, and the air filter all on the left side. On the right side of the engine is (I think) the power steering pump, oil filler tube, distributor, coil, resistor, and battery. Also, feet running boards, two separate brake pedals on the right and press down on clutch pedal on the left side. This tractor seat has a coil spring and a metal flip forward hinge. Seat is also square shaped with seat pad and separate back pad. Tires are 16.9-24, forerunner, R-4, QH601, nylon tubeless, with ice chains. Missing rear fenders and hood style, is the long "bump" from front to back. There is also a brush bar on front (protects the grill and radiator. And below the brush bar is a rock guard, it rounds underneath; both guards are attached to the loader frame.
Questions: (1) What can you tell me about this tractor? I was told it's 1963, 172 ci, 62 hp, 4cyl, gasoline, 4100 series utility tractor. (2) where can I find parts? (3) Can I make this a full 12 volt system, with electronic ignition? (4) How?

I used to sell advertising for a weekly newspaper called, "Clay Today" in rural Clay County Florida maybe 14 years ago. Down in the area of Middleburg, I used to drive past an old gray and red Ford tractor that was for sale on the side of the road. Had a model of one of those back in elementary school in the '50s, and have loved them ever since. Would love to have bought that one, but I was doing good to have the old '91 Chevy S-10 I was riding around in ... Such is life. BTW: I was made in 1947, myself. The lot that our family house stood on, was cleared around 1951, with an old gray and red Ford tractor ... I was only four years old but I still see that picture in my head ... and the big yellow grader that paved the street we lived on. I reckon I like big machinery!

I worked in a lot of 8N tractors, but never a 2N. The dealership I worked at would trade in the 8n, and it would be sold before we even got it painted, and checked over.
I wish my dad would've kept his Ford 671. I loved driving that tractor. The Select-O-Speed shifter made it so easy to operate, and the diesel engine was a tough li'l cuss.

Great video, I learned to drive on an 8n when I was 5 years old. Would have to sit in someone's lap and get them to operate the clutch. I couldn't reach the peddles.

Sad to see that Dwight passed away about 6 months ago. I live in Galesburg and didn’t know about his collection until watching this. Would have been neat to have had a tour of his collection.

I have a 2N, believe it's a 1947. Has Sherman transmission, love that old thing. Very dependable.
2ns were made ONLY during ww11 and had steel wheels and a hand crank engine cause all rubber and copper went for the war effort .! From 1941 thru 1945.
Actually the 2 is because they were started being built in 1942 and ran till 1947. 8N's started in 1948. That's were to "2" and the "8" come from. I know people with 9N's and 8N's also and have compared the differences. 9's and 2's are very similar. 8's have more differences 9's started in 1939-1941. Non of the tractors I've seen have hand cranks, and there's a dealer near me with 6 or 7 of these classics for sale. Most are beat up but one was restored.

That High Range will really make a Bush Hog Hum. It is rough on the Seal so keep the oil or grease checked in the Bush hog.
Depends on the overdrive some of those boxes change your PTO RPM. Most Ns I've used needed to have a lower speed with a 540 PTO to till and such.

Was *this* what I drove when I was 14? It was made in 1945 or so…. It had a flat-head engine, four cylinders…
So, was 1947 the first year of the N series ?

They started making the 9N in 1939. They started making the 2N in 1942. They started making the 8N in 1948. The N series ended when they started making the Golden Jubilee in 1953.

Harry Ferguson hasn’t received the Credit that He deserves for the development of the Ferguson System which is the Three Point Hitch. It is still in use today on various Brands. Although on a much larger scale, the principle is still the same. Credit should be given where Credit is very much deserved.

Are you sure these metal gadget wheels are not on backwards.it seems it would make more sense if the right wheel would be installed on the left and vice versa.just my thoughts.?.

Are Ford had running boards under peddles
9N and 2N had pegs like seen here. 8Ns introduced factory floor boards.
They were a common accessory though.
Front axel
There is no way that a 2N will reach those speeds. With no axillary transmission the 2N will go around 10 maybe 12 mph. With a axillary transmission in gear you may get another 5 mph or so out of it. The info he gave was more likely for a 8N

A grey Ford? Fergys were grey and Fords blue.
LDN Wholesale 9Ns and 2Ns were dark gray enamel. Ford didn’t start painting tractors blue until 1962.
