I think he truly believed that he could cheat death over and over with the Triforce of Power like he did against the Sages. But yes, since he said, "blood," he seems to note not only the Chosen by the gods but also ancestry.
So I have a question now that we've seen the Ganondorf of Tears of the Kingdom. Do you think that he--as a reincarnation of the previous Ganondorf (assuming a dragon fuse took place for all three timelines)--had the memories of the previous lives? He surely does repeat in parallel at large the things of Ocarina of Time Ganondorf.

Honestly I take that moment as him literally being unable to kill her due to the Triforce. The King wished that Link and Zelda would have a future, so at that point Ganon couldn't win but was gonna go down fighting.

He cursed Hyrule and its descendants, the spirit of the hero was already destined to reincarnate, so Demise’s curse was more so an insurance policy to keep himself in the picture as well by adding his hate to the world’s reincarnation cycle. He also doesn’t hate link when he sees him, like Ganon, he’s impressed by link’s boldness, and rather than using his full godly powers or army on him, takes him to another dimension to ensure a perfectly fair duel.

​@@marcel-pb2ulThat’s not True. The spirit of the Hero will rise whenever there is a threat to Hyrule or the Triforce it doesn't have to be demise directly. Vaati & Malladus are both cases of a hero reincarnating for threats not explicitlytied to demise himself, albeit they are part of the demon tribe which play a bigger part in the curse in japanese. In Hylia's case, it's a bloodline connection, not so much a continual reincarnation. Only SS Zelda is a direct reincarnation. All future versions are just her blood descendants. Which is why BOTW Zelda can pray to Hylia and receive her blessings. They are separate entities. Yes, Hylia only reincarnated into SS Zelda because she wanted to use the Triforce to defeat Demise, but her bloodline persisting afterwards isn't due to Demise specifically.

I always thought that during the events of Wind Waker, Ganondorf saw firsthand what the Goddesses were capable of doing when they literally flooded the entire world just to stop him and that they only gave several races a chance to escape from the imprisoning before they were sealed away with the Master Sword. Honestly seeing him stare into the drowned remains of the world he once coveted made him realize how far things escalated at that point and in some sense I sympathize with him because in reality his people being bound to the desert known only for misery and death he had every right to want a better life for his people but man did he go way overboard for it, I get it he's not going to make good on his word being the incarnation of Demise's hatred but given how calm he was through the game until the King literally ruined everything did he become the savage monster everyone saw him as and just let fate take its course as he continued the same tired game between him, Link and Zelda and continuing the cycle again which explains his maddening laughter before the final fight before succumbing to Demise's curse once again.
My running theory with Wind Waker is that when Hyrule was drowned Demise's curse was finally lifted because in the demon's mind it's mission was complete and vanished from that part of the timeline or that due to Ganondorf literally becoming the new "Pedestal of Time" for the now forever lost Master Sword meant he had no way to return either way, Hyrule is gone and so are the Gerudo. (Your thoughts on this)
TL:DR: Ganondorf in Wind Waker in my opinion is the only Ganon/Ganondorf I legit feel bad for.

I just imagine between ocarina of time and windwaker, ganon curses link’s name, then gets therapy while he is sealed away and when he gets back to fight link again, he is just really mellow and like “hey I get it man, I responded badly and I being working in myself to improve that side of me…”. I always felt like since Link often wields the triforce of courage Ganondorf respects him because to him it takes a strong warrior to hold that kind of power
Naturally he wants to take it for himself but at the same time considering the amount of things you go through during Zelda games to get to him he would respect that as well

And if he did just kill him he wouldn't have been able to pull the master sword so he wouldn't have the triforce and now he's stuck knowing that all this could have been avoided if he killed the ninja or just kept the key to his door in the room he's in with the door.

Even before the curse of reincarnation that zelda, link, and ganondorf are locked into demise, didn't hate link and was impressed that a hylian boy would stand against him it's only after link defeats demise that he curses every one to reincarnate in some way.

I imagined link being the only one to actually remember the past lives thanks to that game theory vidoe about timeline hopping when you get a game over. I think link would be sympathetic to Gannon simply because despite being on oposite sides, neither would ever truly get to choose.
