The only thing I know for sure is that Strixhaven isn't in a new plane... it is in Canada. You can tell from the flappy mouths. Vey Canadian.

The deans would just think its a missed opportunity. As for me, i be just the nomad thay i am. roaming the planes of the multiverse. scaling the lost cities on zendikar, or hunting in deep frozen wastes on tarkir. Then there is the formerly known plane mirrodin! somebodys gotta help karn kick some phyrexian butt. Cant do all that while sittin around hearing lectures and theories on phibinacci or pacing about in a workshop/lab making elemental sculptures/brewing a potion. ^_^ the set looks cool. But im not stickin to a college. Maybe ill explore the plane the college is in. But that would be an adventure for another day

I'm a lawyer and silverquill's aesthetics really resonated with me. But I love music and my fav color pair is Izzet, so my heart is conflicted between Silverquill or Prismari!

For sure I'm going Silverquil because I love public speaking lol. And like you Orzhov are my favorite colors with Rakdos right behind it lol. But Witherbloom is pretty close for me
Because they haven't shown anything that resembles a villian, or overarching threat yet for this set the story of Strixhaven seems to just be a fun magic school, and you know what I'm fine with that

I like the theory that each plane is going to a have phyrexian on it like Kaldheim and Vorinclex, so I kinda want to see Jin-Gitaxius hanging around here.

Sometimes you need a joke one to balance out all the more mature ones
Realistically, this trailer is infinitely better than pre war of the spark trailers, a lot better than the Theros and Kaldhiem trailers, and is on par with War for the Spark, Eldraine, and Ikoria.
The goal of a mtg set trailer should always be to convey tone, setting, theme, and a general idea of what the hell is going on. War for the spark did that perfectly. Eldraine and Ikoria showed off the fairy tales run amok vibe, and the giant monsters gimmick that were the main focus of those two settings. Those three trailers could be shown to anyone who wasn't already invested in the story behind mtg and they'd be able to get the main points just from the trailers.
Theros's trailer was incomprehensible to anyone who wasn't invested in mtg before. Kaldhiem's trailers were just plain incomprehensible. All pre war of the spark trailers are pointless voice over narration exposition gibberish set to slightly animated card art.
This trailer does everything it needs to do to intro the set. Strixhaven is a magic school. It's not Harry Potter. It's got 5 colleges; cirque du soleil nerds, math nerds, mean girls, pot head garden club, and the Indiana Jones adventurers society.
You know I thought I’d love Silverquill but I really like Lorehold as a new direction for Boros
We all know a Dimir college wouldn’t be fair to the other color combinations at this school, so I’ll stick with the silverquills.

Tbh, I love how accurately these color pairs match their College Stereotypes. Green-black stoner biologists, red-white loud history nerds, blue-green math dorks, blue-red art students etc. Absolutely loving it.

Was expecting a full cinematic trailer with really poor music choice to throw off all the visuals,instead we got a south park eske parody trailer that actually explained a portion of what happens,while also making me chuckle a bit,not to shabby

After seeing what you're capable of producing it feels like some corners were cut here.
To be honest, this actually looks like what an actual college might come up with and fits the much, much lighter tone Strixhaven has compared to other sets, and this isn't a story trailer either, so it doesn't need to be as fancy. They're probably spending their resources on the Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow trailers too.

Yeah and when they actually release the set trailer just like with khaldeim we’ll probably all be seeing the teaser Or this case collage show case is better and overall more informative to the set then the actual trailer. Honestly not every trailer needs to be some 3D cinematic if they don’t actually do their job of being trailers of setting the tone for the set and or it’s lore.

If you want to constantly stew in horrifying misery on *every plane* in a *multiverse of infinite fantastical possibility,* then I don't know what to tell you.
There is nothing poetic about making this feel like hearthstone. A desperate try to get kids into cardboard crack. Im in for light hearted humor, but this... This is just so cringy.
@@Noisius Spoiler alert, but trying to get kids into magic is *the right move.* Games with fanbases made entirely out of nostalgic gen-xers don't last longer than 25 years. Magic's lasted that long, and longer.
Mtg hooked me when I was a kid with Tarkir: An overkill dragon-filled faction set. It put an iconic creature type on the box, and had cool faction identities to market, and I took those two pieces of bait hook-line-and-sinker. And I'm *so glad about it.*
So now, half a decade later, they're doing it again! Faction identities, iconic themes, and an overkill vibrant aesthetic. I agree: This is a transparent attempt to draw in new players. *And that's a good thing, because it will WORK.*
As far as I love dark fantasy sets and I am a huge Innistrad nerd, they should and must continue doing different tastes of fantasy. The point of the multiverse is mana, travel and discovery, not tragedy and fear.
I quite like the more light-hearted and comedic direction on this trailer!

"tower mage" (or something i don't remember)?
interesting/unique lessons that they have:
Lorehold: Sequence of showing an exhibition with cuts to how those presented relics where retrived (dungeon dwelling, indiana jones easter eggs).
Prismari: Performance with *the elements*. Showing dancers creating elementals, zaffai performing and other stuff. And remember to add that sweet ending "everyone freeze pose" (with some elemental crushing or falling and few others trying to keep their balance).
Witherbloom: Normal lesson about pests and how to breed them (ends with a sentence about what to avoid). Then cuts to fighting of a pest infestation with someone saying "you shouln't have done that".
Quandrix: Creation, multiplication, repetition presentation performed on fractals would be cool (with several of the students failing *spectacularly*).
Silverquill: Just have two students interact in a simple debate that spirals into a duel with inklings, ink projectiles, white ink counter arguments and at the end both are exhausted on their knees saying "you win this one.." (and fall on their faces)?

We went from War Of The Spark to Eldraine to Theros to Ikoria to Zendikar to Kaldheim to this. Literally all of those sets' trailers have been fucking phenomenal, stop throwing a fit because they tried something sillier for exactly one.

Each Strixhaven college has a patron elder dragon of their colors. Allied colors are already covered by the elder dragons of Tarkir.

What the fuck is this? When I look back to even Throne Of Eldraine it wasn't even this bad, I would look back to War of the Spark, I still take that trailer to heart because it felt to me as a ending to a long story of a struggle. And now we get this kiddy garbage?!?

The whole identity theme they’ve done for each of these schools has truly made this one of the best MTG sets I believe we have received in a while.

Green's natural phenomenon and Blue's intellectualism combining to explore the field of mathematics? That age old question of "did we CREATE math or did we DISCOVER math"?? Absolutely amazing.
White's ability to sway a crowd combining with Black's charismatic ego and exploring public speaking/literature? Literally fucking poetry.
Red's insatiable passion for old shiny things and White's respect for history combining into archaeology? Delightful.
Blue's scientific practice combining with Red's love for the arts to make Artistic Theory instead of yet another group of mad scientists?? The most creative interpretation of Izzet they've put out in ages.
... And then Witherbloom is just, Golgari... But they're a lot more fun take on Golgari!

I mean we’ve had Greek plane already, and ixalan is spain/new world mixed together with dinosaurs and pirates so why not
you guys are trying too hard to be hearthstone. the War of the spark and Eldraine trailers were both fantastic because they felt like magic. hearthstone is a game that tries to be goofy, so its trailers can be. This animation style is great as is the content of the trailer, but not for a game that takes itself seriously like magic does.
You're taking Magic too seriously.
I think Magic has just changed. Now we sometimes get sets that simply don't take themselves all that serious, interspersed with the darker stories. It's a product of trying to appeal to a larger audience, I guess.
