A good general overview for us non- nerds and a technical side bar for those who love this kind of information may be a good way forward. Kayvan's lovely calm voice did have me nod off for a bit until his monologue was interrupted by the request for some feedback. I am thoroughly enjoying your vlogs and am in admiration of both of you for your work ethic, joy, and love of homesteading. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

don't know anything about heat pumps and all that. but I sat here mesmerized by Kayvan's explanation of all. There is a beauty to listen to someone who is so detail oriented. I am a coder like he is, and I can see him in a meeting room, explaining the project design, every last detail is handled, all questions answered. Lovely! this episode was a geek's dream.

I have no clue what he is talking about too! But still it’s interesting what both of you are doing to make your home habitable and cozy! Videos only about apples and blueberries wouldn’t show the reality! Even if your crumble with that amazing custard in those beautiful hand made bowls looks sensational! So I suppose it’s about the mix of all of your activities which makes your channel so authentic and entertaining. Thank you for another lovely episode!

Before becoming disabled I had a tremendous garden.Nasturtium is not only beautiful, but edible. A bit peppery and lovely in salads. I used to stuff the flowers with various spreads. I grew borage as well. Also delightful with a cucumber flavor and great in various presentations.

Keep the detail. If someone doesn't want to hear all that, they can fast forward. I agree with the do-it-right-the-first-time philosophy. I say it like this: "If you don't have time to do it right, when are you going to have time to do it over?" and, "Any job worth doing is worth doing right." You can tell: I hate things done sloppily!!! Love you guys and love your videos.

There is always someone who will benefit from Kayvan's research - and we can all marvel at what is going into making your cottage liveable. I for one find it genius to use the broken up pieces of the concrete flooring for filling the wire cages - as I'm a devotee of repurposing and upcycling. Having said that - I also totally agree on going for the best products possible when you do need to buy new - as the investment pays for itself over the years - and, as Kayvan says - he plans to only do it once. Thank you again for sharing all these aspects with us. AND - the bowls, crumbles and custard are a delight to see. By the way - I myself always nip the flowering/bolting parts of basil off, as the flavour changes. Basil is a wonderfully easy plant to re-grow from plant parts, so if handled well - you won't need the seeds anyway. I also live in a northern country, so pot up some - or create a hanging plant of basil to overwinter. The basil scent is a delight to have during the winter - and the hanging plant is beautiful. Looking forward to your next video!!!

Even though I won't be doing ground heat any time soon (sadly, ever?), I am actually Very interested in the details and details of future builds, etc. And with the wonderful wonderful lack of music, the sound of his voice is calming. I can be doing other tasks and have different levels of focus depending on what grabs me that day/moment. And I can replay sections if I want to go back and really focus on details that my brain glossed over. And for anyone closer to doing this same work, it is Priceless to have the details. For many of us, one day we might find ourselves diving even deeper into these sustainable practices and we can do a search on your channel to slowly go through your experience with it. As the daughter of an engineer, I appreciate the detailed descriptions and rationale behind the decisions you’ve made.
But maybe for those who don’t, a timestamp to a ‘wrap up’ statement might be a good idea, so everyone can ‘choose their own adventure’ with the level of detail but still know what’s going on!
Either way, I look forward to seeing the system installed, and eventually in action!
Your garden is looking fabulous - and you wouldn’t be a real homesteader if you weren’t struggling to manage all of the end of summer jobs/preserving and therefore planting the late autumn/winter garden a bit behind schedule. Looks like you’ve still got warm, sunny days though so it should all be fine 🤞🏻

One of my dreams is to be able to build my own property, or at least renovate one back from almost bare brick.
I see so much in the UK where large building companies cut corners and do things at speed with new builds, I don't think I could ever trust them.
All this to say I too have done lots of research and love hearing about the whys and specifics; I soak it all in like a sponge! Kayvan is great at explaining; the only improvement would be a diagram! (It was great for understanding the appendeges!).

I don't understand the technical stuff, but my husband will find it very interesting. We each listen on our computers. So we probably represent a lot of your followers! ❤ XXX

I love the detail. My son just put in geoheat here in Ontario, Canada. Almost exactly the same product and specs.

Delighted to see you embracing the Kerry Gold butter ❤ For pastry or crumble I usually freeze the amount of butter I need and grate it into the flour, saves time 😉
