We want to share our passion for efficient, sustainable homesteading that brings the family together. On our homestead we do chemical-free gardening, grass-fed milk and beef, pastured eggs and broiler chickens, and free range children :) We love to go on adventures as a family, so if we're not workin on the farm, we're probably hiking or out getting ice cream. We're all into DIY, and being inventive and creative. We believe in homesteading that's sustainable, not just sustainable homesteading. In other words, we want to show you that homesteading doesn't have to wear you out to the point that you give it up. We've seen it happen, and almost came to that point ourselves. So go ahead and take a whack at that subscribe button if you'd like to join us on this crazy ride. Get ready to learn and be inspired!
I finally got confirmation i will have the opportunity to rent a piece of land next year. I looked up what it is in american measurements and it is only 0.04 acre😂😂 but honestly for someone who has only gardened on their balcony for the past 4 years it is a lot! And im so happy! Cant wait to grow some bigger crops!
That’s awesome! How exciting!😊
Congratulations!!!!
Congratulations 🎉
Congrats and good luck snuffy, you got this.
You gotta start somewhere!! Always start small and work your way up. Something bigger after going from a balcony just might be too overwhelming and of course it’ll be more work. Good luck with your new plot! ❤
I love that the kids are included in the garden care. So many kids think food comes from the grocery store, they don't realize the work it takes to get that food on the table.
I was raised with a garden and it definitely teaches you to appreciate food 🤗
Love you guys! God Bless 🙏🏻
Thank you!😊
So much common sense from such a young couple!!!
I love the cleanness of this show. God bless and keep you
Thank you!
Your children's entire life is home school - I love to see it. Tell them that a random lady in the tiny island of Barbados 🏖🌴☀is very proud of them. No doubt they may grumble from time to time but when they're grown and they reminisce, it will be all gratitude. This is important work that they're learning. Kudos to you guys - you have an excellent channel.
Thank you so much!😊
Kids do need social stimulation, but home schooling is a better choice than putting them with other peoples’ kids that are like wild animals! Humans are animals, yes, which just like a dog, if you want it to hunt, it’s better to put with other dogs that already hunt! Children are the same way, where you do not want them with other kids with attitudes, behaviors and such you do not want in your child. This isn’t just book knowledge I’ve seen it and know it! If the parent understands the material and knows “How” to teach, it’s a good thing, where some have done real well with homeschooling! But like adults like social interaction, children really need other children to engage with!
As a woman who homeschooled our four children, and now they are happy, well established adults, I completely agree with you!
I home schooled my two kids, it was not easy, but now IA am so glad I did it. Everyone says to me how they are so much better than all other children out there. If you can do it in a good homeschooling community it is even better. But if you compare socializing with other misbehaving kids, it is probably much better not to socialize at all.
@@alinadaych8866 When people asked me about socializing our kids, I would say, "I've seen the village. I don't want their help." lol
The video quality and story-telling are on par with a PBS documentary. I know the work is hard but it is soul-satisfying.
You avoid the everyday 20-30 mile commute, stressful jobs with office politics, shopping in supermarkets, bone-crushing fatigue of most parents, etc. Congratulations!
Your kids will look back with gratitude.
As a 27 year old woman myself, I think Michelle is literally the cutest woman ever, i just find her absolutely adorable. I can’t homestead fully right now like they do but I’ve already started on my fruit trees since they take the longest so hopefully in two years, land can be bought and I can transfer my flowers and fruit trees to my land and really start homesteading. As always, great video that I learn a lot from for future use.
Siete is actually local to me. Unfortunately, they just accepted a huge payout from Pepsi, so expect the products to change in the near future. I'd almost guarantee one of the first changes will be to swap in seed oils to save costs on something 90+% of people don't notice or understand.
I really enjoy the peacefulness of your videos. Healthy boundaries are always great. Balance.
Awesome harvest! We use them as dish sponges- just cut them in half. The shape is perfect for cleaning glasses. The best part is they don’t hold onto smells like a dishrag does.
My jaw just dropped!!
I never thought about doing this.I have loads of loofa this year.
Your homestead life style seems so more real and reasonable than other homesteaders. Can't seem to find anyone showing actual processes like you all do. Thanks.
@@voss_homestead.oh.chapter When you do it this way it also provides the perfect finger holes for holding onto it. Just slip 3 fingers down inside it when cleaning glasses.
Every time I use them I smile at the way God designed them. I think ‘You even provided the perfect sponge for us to wash with.’
@@virsapiensfortisest922 WOW! Pro tip!! Thank you!
Great to see you all being self sufficient and teaching your children I was raised in a garden and it’s the most satisfying thing a person can do with the price of food and the shortages it’s so important to be self sufficient great video
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your great work. You are a blessing. Danke!
Thank you! You're so kind 😊
I totally just learned something amazing from you! This was my first year ever planting zinnias from seed. I had no clue that if you pulled the petals off that’s where the seed was. I just pulled all the seeds off of mine and can’t wait to use these next year! I love it! Thanks guys! 😊
I look forward to every time you guys post a new video. you really put in a lot of effort to editing that is much appreciated. they are very well done videos and your family is precious!
Thank you!😊
These bring so many memories of when my grandmother would take all of her grandkids to the house in the country and would start by scrubbing the floors and then going to get the loofa to take home where my mother would sewn the outside with an old towel and we would used them to bathed. This was in another country.
You're right MIchele, about taking breaks-it's called sabbath. Love the video!! So good to see the kids part of the effort. More and more beautiful memories-they'll never forget and always be blessed for it. The caramel popcorn brought some wonderful childhood memories back for me-my Dad's Mom would make it, stuff they did from the Great Depression when things were so tight. She didn't use a thermometer. She's stick a spoon in the sugar mixture, putting the spoon in and out until she'd get a string-thread instead of droplets. I can still see the treat on the kitchen counter on some wax paper when she was done. She'd have us all around to help. Thank you so much for this memory.🥰💗🍿
Those are the best kind of memories!☺️
oh, i thought there comes something really bad. but taking out old plants is making space for new ones. thats fine to me.
Thanks for the point to not let yourself beeing burdened by the garden!
Loved every minute of this video. Thank you and God Bless you.
Aww at 16:02 mark the cuteness of the youngest girl swinging her dolly on the wooden swing seat. Adorable, the innocence. Beautiful family you have.
"This hand pruner sucks." Omg, so relatable!!😂
Not sure if this is only North European thing, but we pick all the green tomatoes in the fall, put them in a dark and dry place (like in a cardboard box in one layer) and they turn red in some time. That way you can have fresh tomatoes for a little bit longer.
My mother in law (originally from southern Italy) used to pull up or cut off the plant at ground level and hang it upside down in a shed and as the tomatoes ripened she would use them into the winter. We are in South West Western Australia. Now I do the same thing too, usually with the cherry tomatoes 😂
I do this in central USA!
You guys are the literal best. No commercial bs. You have taught me so much. Well done
Thanks!😊
I love having 4 seasons. Each one has something special about it. I don't like being cold, but love that winter gives us time to rest. God bless y'all and keep growing.
I am not a fan of Ohio's winters either BUT, I agree on the winters rest and also, we have kids who live in the south and the size of their bugs 😳
We also use the outdoors as an extra refrigerator in the winter. Especially around hte holidays! We stick leftovers in coolers on the back porch! lol
This is my favorite UA-cam channel 🌻❤
I love this Mom, she is a beauty and does not wear heavy make up to go in front of the camera and she is good in everything she does. Can't wait for another gardening season. Ilove watching you videos!! During winter please make videos about cooking , I already fallowed most of the dishes you that you been cooking. Good harvest
What does her appearance have to do with if she is good or not? I'm happy she doesn't feel pressured to put on makeup but I also don't want other women to feel like they're bad when they do need makeup to feel confident. Let women do whatever they want, they don't exist to please you. 😘❤️
@@TheSnuffy1994I think they were 2 separate ideas. She doesn’t wear makeup ✅ she is good at what she does ✅
That’s what my understanding was
Yeah she's really beautiful. And her laugh😂😂 really refreshing. Watching from kenya
Soggie buns😂😂 (in theBBQ Ketchup video)
I love Michelle.
Keep up the hard work, its good for the body in many healthy ways, and very healthy for the kids, with a life time of fond memories. I have never forgotton my childhood on the farm, so many unforgettable memories.
I've never even heard of those sponge plants!! Thanks for teaching me something brand new!
Coconut oil rubbed on garden tools & scissors, keep them easier in the garden, without the poisons in other lubricants.
Thanks for sharing your journey 🤗🇨🇦🌻
Fun to watch the garden tear out , it’s brutal work. Ive got to quit planting sunflowers, the hole to dig them out is huge!
I agree about what you said about seeds! It's amazing how one seed can change so much.
The tips and tricks you share are always so practical and easy to implement in my own garden.
Hi guys, I'm from Downunder and luv, luv, luv watching your shows. I've made green tomato relish which came up a treat. Keep up the good work and God bless.
Love seeing you and kiddos walk bearfoot threw your garden. I love the feel of grass under my feet
Great advice, Michelle!😊
You guys are living my dream life! 😍🤩❤
Great job thank you for sharing this important information
We had a frost here in mid June, covered the garden and the tomatoes lost all their blossoms and leaves. They came back super strong...but only a few red ones. Our first frost came through last week, so I have about 90 lbs of green and ripening tomatoes in the garage...I'll be canning as they come till Christmas 😂
We're pulling out our garden today too,and it is very sad. Just leaving in the kale and peppers because they're still doing great. Great video as always.
Thank you!
Your videos just get better and better! I love the atmospheric ASMR-like sections and the conversational way you provide information. Your family is precious and you are so wise to invest yourselves in your kids so beautifully. You will not regret it!
Thank you so much!
Thankyou for another awesome video. Love the popcorn. Will be making some soon. 😊
Hope you enjoy!😊
The editing is amazing! You are killing it guys!
Thank you!
Love the song !!!
I absolutely love this channel guys❤I am watching you from Uk when I am growing my own veg at the allotment I am renting. I try to make few videos but barely anyone watched it so I gave up and just enjoying growing and pickling. Also you can make green tomato siracha sauce from your green tomato so you don’t need to through them away :)
Something about this video made me feel so much warmth and joy. This felt like the perfect day of breaking into fall. I was remembering raking leaves with my parents when I saw your kids playing in the corn husks. They just look like they’re living a great life. And ending the day with caramel corn is fall at its finest. You’re the sweetest family.
Glad you enjoyed it!😊 Thank you!
Love fried green tomatoes I grew up with them, I cooked them for my and now they cook them for their kids. I just slice them, wet them and season cornmeal with just salt and pepper and fry them in a skillet with preheated oil, fry in both sides till medium brown. Now I need to make me some. Enjoy
Yum!😋
Classic southern dish right there.
I really enjoyed your video! Keep sharing what you do about "waste". The strawberry leaves was one that surprised me. I've made strawberry top vinegar and kombcha flavours but never thought to dry them. Hi from Australia!
A great garden for your big family. Congrats on all the hard work from the whole family. I would love to grow loofa also. See you all next week.
Thank you!
It's so important to show both sides! I'm just starting my homesteading journey and it's good to see the harder parts and the more fun parts. Beautiful video, you have a beautiful and real life
For sure! Thank you!😊
Fermented green tomatoes make a great pickle substitute.
Love the way you all work together. I used to get tomato overwhelm here in CA too and you just have to call it. I used the green ones I knew wouldn’t ripen for a big batch of (green) salsa verde. It was my last batch of the season with the stray peppers and onions you need to use up. 💚
If you slice and batter the green tomatoes you can freeze them on a sheet pan then put them in a freezer bag to fry later
A pumpkin trellis looks really cool ❤ (for next near🤔😉)
I love that you guys are so honest and raw… especially about being parents. I love that you admit that you don’t love being in the kitchen. I love that you admit that you feel resentful when your kids are constantly nagging you for something to eat. As a parent you lose all sense of self sometimes between kids and work, but it seems like a taboo to talk about it. We’re all human beings. Watching you guys be raw, lively, and doing what you love makes me envy you and want to watch more. It’s refreshing - thank you! God bless you all!
Am absolutely loving your wholesome channel! What a lovely family ❤️God Bless you. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you so much!😊
Beautiful family times together ❤
I live in a area where we don’t really get seasons (Madeira Island). And while I love our eternal spring your channel actually makes me miss the change of the seasons ❤️ absolutely LOVE your channel, thanks for everything 🙏
Love seeing farm life
I have been giving our chickens the green tomatoes, they love them. They do not care for the ripe ones.
Curious if you got a 55 gallon drum and made silage from the green plants you chop down out of the garden?
I love how positive y’all are and I learn so much from your videos. ❤
Welcome back. Thanks for the adventure ❤❤
My garden is still going. I'm in zone 5a. It hasn't been the greatest garden this year, but I'm happy with what I've harvested. Can't wait for next year. Love all of your videos. Have an awesome day.❤❤❤
I LOVE your videos! Are you going to start making movies? Watching This video I smiled so much and got sad with you and was left feeling hopeful and happy. What an AMAZING video! And thank you so much for talking about garden guilt. I choose to close out with my garden last week even though some plants were still slightly producing. I felt bad but also I feel so good about how much I was able to can and freeze and preserve. Great job!!
Love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing 🙏
Clean up is always hard. Love spring then summer goes nuts. Fall we wind down the garden and get ready to start the plan for next year. I love gardening in all it's seasons!
Really enjoyed watching you harvest all your produce this summer. Your whole family did a wonderful job! Enjoy your fall and winter you all deserve it😊
Thank you!😊
Hi from Australia, Michelle I use green tomato's in a green tomato relish. It is delicious on ham and cheese sandwiches or cheese crackers, on cold meat anything savoury actuality. I love your content, thank you for sharing. Sending blessings 🙌 🙏
I'm from Australia too and have just finished watching.
@@justme-uw6bz hello fellow Aussie
Thanks for the idea!😊
Me too. We make Green Tomato Chutney too. Last season we made 58 jars of tomato products. My son has said he's only interested in Green Tomato Chutney. Guess who is going to have to eat the rest? Lol.
BUDDY u have one incredible lady
😂😂😂 DEAREST Sir Edward, I am so happy that a man said it🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.
Cuz I have noticed that since the first video. Greetings from a Grandma ❤
The only thing I like to plant for winter is a cover crop such as winter wheat to replenish the soil over the season that is least prolific for me.
Your channel so wholesome. ❤ Thank you for sharing.
You are a fantastic Gardener. Everything looks beautiful. Hint: leave zinnias up after bloom and birds will snack on them in winter
Thank you!
We are zone 5 and shutting down our garden too, with tears in our eyes, and such grateful hearts for what the tiny seeds produced for us, we look out and see another season coming to an end, it brings much sadness but also much happiness. What wonderful wholesome videos you provide for us!! Your family is so sweet. It reminds me of mine!! God bless you all abundantly.
Fried green tomatoes are so so yummy! Can’t you also pickle them? I thought I read that somewhere… Love watching you guys! I am in California and have learned so much from you! Keep up the good work!❤❤❤ My Berlin seed catalog just arrived! Whoop whoop!🎉🎉🎉
Yes you can! Thanks for following along with us!😊
I LOVE my whirly pop. I learn so much from your videos. Thank you
Just put UA-cam on and your channel popped up. I got a smile on my face 😊
Hi guys! Im a newer gardener, and we are in a very similar hardiness zone. I would love to see a list of your favorite fruit/veggie varieties! And maybe your watering schedule?
You make me feel like i could actually do this for my family ❤️
so enjoy your videos. Congratulations on your BOUNTIFUL and BEAUTIFUL harvest.
Thank you!
I’ve used the last of my green tomatoes as a sub for apples in homemade apple pies.. but also sliced and battered up green tomatoes then put them in the freezer to later fry up throughout winter months .. taste of summer when it’s snowing outside 😊
You have totally gotten the gardening thing down. I am so impressed with your fruits of labor. yes, i'll admit, i am jealous, but I'll figure it out one day. With a balanced life, you are truly blessed! Keep on keeping on! Love you guys!
We use to pickle the green tomatoes in barrel wood mixed with left over from garden cucumbers, cauliflower, slice red cabbage, hot peppers, etc. Have a bless week.
Michelle is the head of this homestead, happy wife happy life good boy!!
I'm late this time, so I'm even more happy about your great video. Michelle is like me, she wants to send a clean garden into the winter season. It's great that you're all helping so much together and can then enjoy the end with delicious popcorn. I'm retiring next year and hope that I'll have a lot more time for my big garden. There is still a lot of untapped potential. My wish is to grow popcorn for my grandchildren, let's see if I can find ladyfinder seeds in Germany. Dear ones, I've been able to learn so much from you, it's amazing what you've taught yourself and learned from your families. I am so grateful that I found your channel 2 years ago. Next year I definitely want to try vertical gardening. Thank you and have a good week, God bless you
Thanks so much for being here 😊
So excited to see some homeschool content when garden season is slower ❤
I had no idea you guys were so close to me! I'm in Huber Heights >.>
You're cleaning everything up, and I'm planning my next crops. I have cabbage out there, I've got garlic to plant in a few weeks, radishes I hope I can get grown before it's too cold, and hopefully get some elderberry and a fruit tree or two in the ground.
I love finding Ohio growers on here 😊. If you have any other more local grower suggestions I'd love to subscribe to them too!
Hi neighbor!😊 Nice! Hope it goes well for you!
Congrats to your family for another successful gardening season. I enjoyed learning about growing, harvesting and enjoying home grown popcorn.
I'm still not ready to let my garden go here in Mass. I'm always a bit behind because our neighbors have big pine trees so I have more shade than I'd like. I have really enjoyed learning from you both over the last 2 years. Some of my successes have been thanks to you both and your tips. Enjoy some down time doing fun things with the kids!
Thank you so much! Glad it’s been helpful!😊
So lovely seeing each of your family members are helping and reaping the fruits of your efforts for the whole year round, it is simply the fantastic life’s reality. Kudos “More Than Farmers❤!
So relaxing to watch.
I remember working a garden in Columbus with my grandparents.
Now that I'm retired, I plan on setting up a small garden and beehives.
Minivan's rule, you're the first homesteading family that I've seen that really know how to use one. Impressive.
That’s great! Hope it goes well for you!
I grow blue popcorn for the first time this year the colonels were small and it's ready to pick. That's for sharing the link to a similar popping pot. I'm ordering it. Looks delicious. Thank you for sharing. Till next time God Bless.
Your cow looks so beautiful ❤
Fried green tomatoes are one of my favorite things to eat in the summer. They remind me of my grandmother's kitchen and when I eat them so many memories flood back. Codi your Editing is Awesome and I love seeing the new things you do throughout the videos. I was wondering now that you have taken down the garden. Do you plant a cover crop over the winter or leave them bare? Thank you for allowing us to see a small part of your lives. I know I speak for meaning when I say that your videos are wholesome and so inspiring as well as encouraging. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Some of the garden we will leave covered in leaves, and we will probably still try to get a cover crop in part of it. We'll try to get that in a video soon.
@@morethanfarmers Thank you for your reply. I am looking forward to seeing your next video. Monday nights are my @Morethanfarmers night. lol
You can also make nesting pads for your chickens from your luffas 😊
Such great inspiration to watch your videos to start my week out! Thank you guys for the work you put into making these videos for us!
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoy them!😊
When I started gardening, I went all in and even did winter gardening. I may try that again but I took on too much. It was overwhelming trying to learn all of it all at once. Succession planting, winter gardening, learning about amending soil, perennials, it almost made me want to quit. I didn’t of course but I had to be honest with myself about my goals.
Green tomatoes also make a delecious chow-chow which is kind of like relish. It's green tomatoes, peppers (usually banana), and cabbage all chopped together and fermented with salt. Your video was fun to watch. Thanks.
What are you feeding that basil bush?! 🤩🤩 I have never seen anything like that. I have a hell of a time growing basil and it sucks because I love it so much.
Im trying the Lettuce Leaf variety this year because of its heat tolerance so hopefully it will do better. I would love a basil bush of my own 🤗
Really great harvest. Hope you like fried green tomatoes. We love
That’s exactly what I do with my zinnias. I love it when gardening is easy.
I have a cherry tomato plant that is over 12 feet and it amazes me that it comes from a teeny tiny seed so I totally get what you’re saying about the basil.
We love growing our own popcorn, ladyfinger is definitely the best! We usually use a cloth bag or sack of some kind and put the cobs in... be sure to hold it closed tightly and slam it onto a concrete floor and wala your popcorn is shelled all you need to do is pick out the cobs, there are always some that need done again but such a quick way to do it.
I come here for the gardening insights and harvest tips...but that popcorn at the end looked yuuummmy! And, it's always refreshing to see a family enjoying life together while eating it. Keep up the great work!
Very different to our final harvest. I do not know how your climate is, we need all the time from March to late October to grow the food we need.At that time we have to handle rain and cold. And Luffa outside? 😂
Good way to have a rest, and concentrate on formal education. Growing a second green crop for the soil fertility is not what you do? Do you just mulch the ground?
Always nice to watch other ways of growing food .😊Happy to watch more
