    Can you please give the grit of the 3M disc you used to add a "tooth" to your piece before the liver of Sulphur. Thanks.

    Great, you pointed out the step I was missing, I’m just wondering why your tongs didn’t go black though ?

    Thank you. That was very clearly explained. I’m taking a jewelry class and need to patina a copper piece. I have a question: Do patinas, like the one you demonstrated, take away the copper smell and the tendency that copper can have to mark the skin when oxidized? Thanks again. PS. How long does the patina last. PPS. I like Tequila too 😊

    At 10:04 you say "it won't happen on brass", but brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, surely it would work on brass, yes?

      Hello,
      Here is a link to an article that talks about different kinds of metal and how to patina on them. ua-cam.com/video/b160j_DXgRw/v-deo.html

      Liver of sulphur does darken brass. I’ve used it before.

    I see you are contaminating the sulpher solution with neutralizer as you are using the same tweezers for the three steps

    Hi, I am also in Houston and I would love to have some Patina (Artificial Aging) on some of my silver and copper coins. I would love to bring out the details from the high spots :)

    Is there something you can use besides baking soda?

    I bought a 3 mm sterling silver round box chain to hang some old pendants I already have. The chain came very shiny and new looking so I wanted to get a nice patina on it. For some reason the chain turned a rainbow blue. What did I do wrong? Can I fix it?

      Do it longer. That should help ya. Or throw some heat on it!

    Would it work with metal copper snaps on a hoodie? And is it safe to put it in the washing machine afterwards?

    • @cooltoolsvideos
      @cooltoolsvideos  3 роки тому

      It will work, yes but washing it in the washing machine after would be problematic as the patina would likely come off.

    So what do you use to seal your finished project? A spray on lacquer?

    • @cooltoolsvideos
      @cooltoolsvideos  6 років тому +1

      Hello, we asked Jan your question and she replied: The patina - depending on what it is on-can be sealed with a wax- renaissance or most any- or a spray lacquer. If I have thoroughly scrubbed the piece and the patina was applied carefully, it really does not come off or change much - even in the Houston humidity!

    No patina from liver of sulfur on brass? Why? There is a lot of copper there!

    Will the pmc tarnish like typical sterling? Can you prevent that by sealing it?

    • @cooltoolsvideos
      @cooltoolsvideos  6 років тому

      Hello, once metal clay is fired it will tarnish like any other silver. Yes, sealing a piece can prevent tarnishing. Hope this helps!
