This reminds me of all those Tech executive and WEF billionaires with their bunkers in New Zealand, Europe, and the Mid West. They stupidly did not consider that their own security and the contractors who built their places might be a risk. LOL.

I feel like this story undersold the threat of the alien invaders. If they're vulnerable to small arms fire, the US military, or any developed military at that, would wipe the floor with them, on the ground at least. Yeah, they had their death-beams, but those didn't seem terribly effective either, given they were only snatching up individual people. If whatever creates those beams isn't stationed on the big ships, we'd probably be able to hit them with some kind of missile and take them out of the fight. Even if we have no way of taking down the big ships, given the aliens' abysmal ground capabilities, we could just hold out until they decide it's not worth it, and leave. Realistically, humanity shouldn't have lost in this story.
When she said the food will expire, lady's never seen SteveMRE, I've seen that guy eat an almost 150 year old cracker, not to mention all the WWII rations packs he's ate/smoked lol

8:00 these telescopes record all the time. This is dumb. They would have had a recording, also, there’s protocols for detecting worm holes and spaceships. This is common sense, but I guess we’ll ignore that because the plot has to happen.

Your audio is hard to hear. I don't know if you fix it but a really wish I could've heard you better.
Some of the word choices 23 minutes in are kinda off. Like, "we can use lead lined paint to ward off rays that are used for detection or destruction" (paraphrased) isn't something someone would normally say.
I'm watching the movie extinction on Netflix just because it reminded me of this story lol

Oh I so hate how this story ended. So not OK!

I liked this story a lot, but I do have some constructive criticism. The wife's dialog felt forced and unnatural. Her husband wants to spend their savings on a bunker because he swears he saw some aliens, and she just goes along with it, no questions asked? She acts too perfect (for the protagonist) and has almost no flaws. I would rather you spend more time describing the apocalypse than him delivering his daughter. The wife's water breaking on the same day as the invasion feels like an over-done trope. I literally rolled my eyes.

This is a short story, I enjoyed listening to. Aliens described unlike no other I've ever heard of, so it was hard to get a complete vision of how they looked, but I'm glad they weren't invincible and Ed killed one.
