I do love this kind of setting for a story, but it bothers me that they send soldiers to inspect a underwater bunker instead of, you know, professionals who know about structures like engineers or deep sea drone operators who'd just survey the buildings from outside for leaks or contaminants, since if they already were "explored from within" earlier, there'd be no reason to risk smashing a submarine to a potentially collapsed entrance just to send some grunts into a hazardous water filled unstable structure to kick pipes and walls.
Also, they needed a well defined chain of command very _very_ badly, and the person at the top of that chain definitely needed to someone who was not Szymon.
At least they didn't pilot the submarine with a video game controller
They sound like band of teenagers not soliders. Who is in command? Why everybody does whatever they want?

They don't even have an understanding of what they're doing, or any understanding of anything. All they can do is imitate the inputs which they are fed. That's all they do: imitation, and they imitate a mixture of millions of images at once, producing a sort of averaged out slop. Humans don't work that way. Human artists are selective in which inputs they choose and how they combine and modify them, because humans are conscious of what they are doing and what they are trying to make, and they have their own sense of artistic appreciation. They have opinions about whether what they are looking at or making is good or bad. AI doesn't have any opinion. It just thoughtlessly imitates what it is fed.
@TonboIV no, theyre not. Sorry buddy, but human brains cannot create new faces. All art is theft of likenesses. The brain combines details of 2-3 existing faces. This is proven because artists who live in urban areas or otherwise have seen many more people are DRASTICALLY better at drawing faces, due to having far more in their memory for their brain to combine.
Which is exactly what ai art does. It combines tiny aspects of hundreds of pieces of art.

If I had to theorize, I think this was a way for members of the NSDAP to have achieved some level of immortality. If they are linked to their ancestors in such a way, then they survive through their descendants at least on some conscious level similar to the way the avatar state worked in ATLAB, even to the point where if the tank is destroyed it kills all linked to it, the past souls and the ones currently alive.
This story is amazing. I listened at work, and home and last night and then restarted it and finally sleeping at 440 before i get up at 6 am. Thank you for the amazing company

... so one soldier who goes a bit nuts faced 4 and they all just dropped their weapons. The guy set off an explosive in a pressurized bunker at the bottom of the ocean, he should have been relieved of any and all ordinance after that. Great story but the actions of the characters were really questionable.
True and the fact he was grinning like a cartoon villain but somehow he is operating on some moral compass instead of being some sleeper agent. Doesn't make much sense.

@@plab1151 because using your imagination takes away the key factor of actually having it on paper and improving certain parts of the story to make it Acceptable. Without it, your mind just keeps dwelling without ever coming to a concrete resolution.

Like right from the get-go I knew that Szymon was going to be a problem, like wow. Also, yeah, great idea kicking a dusty corpse, that's not potentially dangerous *at all.*
Anyways, this was phenomenally well done and I enjoyed it tremendously. A lot of build up and intrigue, but I am still kind of disappointed how it ends.
It's just going to happen again in another 10-15 years...

Could be another operation paperclip or something similar which is why they say not much was found. To build an underwater bunker means they had technology beyond what the allies even knew of and very advanced deep sea subs.

The writer Probably wanted to make it so that the rest of the team cared enough for the guy to try to disarm the situation peacefully.
Can't say It didn't feel extremely infuriating to listen them let the Polish guy do stupid thing after another, if you have a person who has that big of a attitude problem towards Third Reich relics you shouldn't take him on a mission to a bunker potentially filled with ww2 relics.

I made it to the same point in the story others had issues with and i had to tap out. there's only so much suspension of disbelief I can drum up and this nonsense blew right past it. Fantastic narration, as usual! the story, though, nope.
I haven't listened to a creepypasta in many years but this title caught my interest cause I thought it was real

Brilliantly read, really good job on the atmosphere. The story was good as well but I just can’t stand it when a soldier who’s supposedly trained is suddenly acting like an adhd riddled 4 year old just running around breaking shit, refusing to listen for a second and being stupid and all the other characters treat it like a little oopsie instead of taking away all the idiots guns and or explosives and detaining them until they settle the fuck down.

come on - it should not be so hard to find german speakers around your area. or even to ask for recordings of certain names or phrases to use in your readings. the american pronounciation of german words is so cringe and some original german language would make the reading much more interesting. :)

The story was gripping, i love a good mystery.....but a cliff hanger wnding with nothing but speculation on what, or why the machine was created just left the story feel dull and open ended...i love a good mystery, but a cliff hanger with zero effort of giving some kind of closure on the whole plot made the ending feel empty. Again, gripping story, ending fell short. Now if they made a part 2, or 3 then this story could actually be saved, toherwise its just an hour plus of waiting to find the root of the story just to be left more confused and uninterested.
Great performance, but I just couldn’t stay focused on this one
