I am 82 now but years ago I used to look forward to listening to “ Saturday night theatre “ I loved it , How I wish we still had those days . Thank you so much for posting this.
I am obsessed with radio dramas. This is so nostalgic. When you grew up listening to radio dramas. 😆😆 It was our entertainment for the night after dinner, before going to sleep, when the world slept early.
Thank you so much for your comment. It really warms my heart that you are getting so much joy out of this channel. I hope to bring you and others much more joy via great british radio plays in the future. Thanks again, and God bless 🙏
I prefer it to TV and I was born in 1965 so TV was the main thing but as a teenager I discovered radio dramas on radio 4. I love Radio 4 Extra for all the old plays, but UA-cam is great fir variety.
And me makes two!! Just so so good. There's not one section, whether actors or crew, that can be criticised as letting the side down so to speak. Every part is fundamental to the other and makes for just perfection and totally English all the way, but I'm biased being a Scouser!! I've not read the credits etc but leading man sounds totally like Martin Jarvis i think his name is? Fantastic actor, more so radio i enjoy even tho he's prolific either way!!! Apologies for going on and on!! Just checked the cast etc and it wasn't MJ but crikey sounded so similar!!
Memories listening to these on my parents old GEC Radiogram. Coal fire blazing away, sitting quietly and very happy back then. How the world has changed indeed.
I’m a Brit living in the States. I remember listening to BBC plays on the radio when I was young. Thanks for these plays. They take me back and they’re really enjoyable. So much better than anything on television.
I grew up with color tv and books on tape and cd. I'm thankful for my mom and granny who introduced me to these types of radio shows. They are so much fun and a break from screens and well acted instead of just read. Thank you for sharing your library. 💖 🎙
Radio dramas remind me of spending time with my elderly neighbours when I was 8 & onwards listening to plays on the radio with them, the spookier the better in front of a roaring fire in a big old armchair. Happy times.
Grew up in the 50’s and we listened to the radio all the time. BBC children’s hour at 5 ‘clock Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm was a favourite. Mysteries in the evening. Being Scottish we always listened to Jimmy Shand and his band on a Saturday evening. My Dad always checked his football coupons which were announced over the radio on Saturday . Imagine finding that interesting ! Wonderful memories. Now live in Canada. Missed women’s hour when I first came in 1978. Eventually found lots of interesting programs here.
Me to , I love the radio from being a 10 year old ..Dick Barton’s special agent when I came home from school while lighting the coal fire.Emigrated to Vancouver Canada in the late 1960s. I had central heating for the first time in my life. I really missed the radio….but soon slotted into Canadian life …No longer live in Canada but have fond memories….Thank you so much for these stories ….
Superb acting all thru this presentation. Lots of twists and guessing but it turned out to be my initial suspect. I thoroughly enjoyed this play. Thank you.
I remember listening to radio dramas in the car in the 40 s and 50s with my darling mother driving.a car similar to the one shown in this video. It was bliss.
These radio plays are great thank you for posting them. I listen to them when I go to bed. If I fall asleep I just listen again later. They remind me of being a small child in the fifties and bring back such fond memories of my mum . She would always tune into the afternoon play on the radio and I used to sit on her knee and fall asleep. Happy days.
I have loved radio drama since I first started listening to it back in the late 1960s, and I love it still. Far, far superior to most modern television drama.
Oh I am so glad I found this. When I got to go to England in my twenties, I loved being able to listen to the BBC plays on the radio. I wish we had something like that here.
I know we commented on this but it seems to have disappeared. We enjoyed this one very much. This summer we'll be having family over for a murder mystery picnic. This is our favorite channel. Keep up the great work.
Fantastic story. It caught me by surprise and so well done I had to hear it again. I must find more like this. I don’t remember enjoying anything more 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Just found and subscribed to your channel. Radio dramas are wonderful, lots of scope for the imagination! Love picturing faces, surroundings, etc. Cant wait to listen to them all.
I wasn't born early enough to enjoy these types of programs on the radio but I've been told of them by my dad and grandma, both of whom have gone now but I always loved the thought of listening to radio stories back when I was a girl and now I'm able to listen to & enjoy these on UA-cam. Makes me feel a bit closer to them and wonder if they would recognize any of the programs on here. Many thanks!

There are a lot of things we’d like to see return.
But this society is too far gone and it’s hopeless.
I'm 46 and starting those days nothing is lost if still in our hearts xx

Agatha Christie was so clever. Brilliant twist.
My mother loved radio dramas. Typically she would listen to them while she was ironing. Tonight, I did that too! Rest in Peace, Mam.
My Father in Scotland only had a fireplace and the radio. He had to depend on his imagination. Better simpler times, when life was real
Yes, I agree!
I’m sure your dad felt like he was in heaven in your home. ❤
Heaven!
So life is not real anymore? Why not try getting one then !😸
We used to listen on long car rides in America. Such fond memories ❤

I love the way my mind feels when I listen to this so away from the pain of the situation of our world 😢when evil was just something we read about 😢

Felt like I was back to being a child listening to the radio with my parents before we had a tv.
Good. Old fashioned mystery as opposed to some of the modern podcast stuff so beloved of the BBC these days.
Takes me back to sleepovers at grandmas with her radio times and her budgie
The many "red herrings" in this classic were DELICIOUS!
Oh Ioved this! There is no one better than Agatha for crime novels
Superb acting all thru this presentation. Lots of twists and guessing but it turned out to be my initial suspect. I thoroughly enjoyed this play. Thank you.
Excellent story. I really never suspected until the end. Well done Agatha!
Yes me also….right to the very end! Bravo!

That was OUTSTANDING!!!!
At home in the UK I grew up with the telly, but at my Nana's we would sometimes listen to the radio sat on the 'settee'. Mesmerised us!
Oh, so wonderful! These radio plays are so excellent compared to 2023! Thank you for sharing.

Yes!
Could not agree more. Too many video producers get drunk on image. Must be the cannabis effect.
Well, I'd agree mostly, except Outlander and the first 4 seasons of Game of Thrones.
The ending is very unexpected ❤❤❤
the cast delivery of every syllable and mere utterance was spot on. Bravo 🙌 Encore🌟🤩
Excellent 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Great twist......you fooled me! Thank you!
I happen to be listening on May 15!
I got goosepimples when I read that!
@@maryflannery6805 A lot of very strange "coincidences" are happening to me via my phone. Lol

Very good one! Agatha really was the Grand Dame of mystery.
Had me hooked. Brilliant! ❤️
Great plot twists! The queen of crime does it again! The play's atmosphere reminded me of The Mousetrap (highly recommended if you haven't seen it).
A new subscriber here in the KC area. Looking forward to listening later tonight.
