A classic style sci-fi story. Not just lasers and good vs bad but a study of humanity against a futuristic backdrop. Refreshing compared to a lot of contemporary stories.

It's the first one that's popped up for me that isn't "HFY." So I clicked it immediately, beginning right now.
I can't stand HFY stories. Can't stand them. They're trash, most of the time, which makes this one promising.

I would be immediately suspicious if I knew there was advanced cloning technology that was onboard a generational ship. ...Why would you have a population to be kept alive during the ship's transit when you could just create the population at the destination?

While it is necessary to maintain a crew for unexpected occurences the majority of people could be in hypernation (which would certainly be an existing alternative if cloning is at such an advanced level). But with it comes the usual melee of human problems. Some will be focused on the mission as it is laid out originally. And some will see this as a posibility to gain power over others and shape the future into a cult where they are at the very top and the rest there to worship them and tend to their every whim.
We see it even now with Putin. We saw it with Hitler and Stalin and Musso and Tojo. We saw it with Zetswayo of the Zulu nation, albeit on a more local level as he at least recognized that he could not oversee and manage a world wide rulership. We saw it with the Hutu's. We see it with the CCP of China. We even see it with the very top of the EU elite. And we risk seeing it with Trump if he regains a term in the oval office as he is not even trying to deny that he will disband the constitution, assume permanent leadership and remove everybody, even those of his own race, that will utter a single word in defiance against him.
There is a name for all of them. Demagog's. They view every other people on earth, even family and friends and staunch supporters as merely servants to sweeten their lives and ensure their unwavering power. Demagog's are far more dangerous and destructive than any psychopath or sociopath can ever be. And they will not hesitate for a nanosecond in culling the people that serve no purpose in their eyes.
And where better to aim for ultimate power and control than in a spaceship bringing the remnants of humanity to a new world to ensure survival of the human species? There are no armies or nations to curtail their machinations and schemes of evil. They are practically given a free hand to pursue these plans with the only limiting factor being how many useful nobrains they can persuade into doing their dirty work for them.

@billysmith1873 I don’t want to spoil too much for those who haven’t listened to the story yet, but you have to remember that the ship does not operate on democracy. The crew was likely dispersed immediately and could have been fed a multitude of lies or cover stories. There is one other possibility regarding their fate, but revealing it would spoil the story. If you’ve listened to the story, you should be able to figure it out.

A privileged 'elite' few, manipulating and deceiving the innocent masses under the gise of 'the greater good', when in actuality they enjoy the power over people's lives, they gain pleasure from living in the most opulant and obcene luxury while most have to struggle to survive. Callous and evil monsters, deviod of humanity. I weep for us all.
