Wonderful episode! I think that TECH clearly stands for "Tailors, Embroiders, Cobblers, and Haberdashers". Originally the store was called only "TEC", supplying only the three primary services of fashion (clothes and alterations, decorative/fanciful details, and shoes). However, Rowan's grandfather soon realized how good it would be to sell sewing materials, buttons, and the like (or haberdashery), so he added on the H the following year. Wanting people to feel comfortable and at home in his family run business, he called it a Town rather than an Emporium. The name TECH Town stuck and has been used till this day.
It wasn't until Rowan was a child, bringing electronics into the store and forcing them upon customers did the modern term "tech" start applying to store. Once computers became popular that area of the business expanded. The rest, as they say, is history.
That's actually brilliant. Definitely deserves more likes.

I enjoyed the subtitles for Adam and Alan's silent conversation with each other while Rowan's dad mastercrafted the shoes. The Epic NPC Man fan in me half expected him to hit the shoes with a hammer and say "it's finished" in a thick Scottish accent. Fun sketch!

Wonderful episode! I'm a latecomer to the VLDL community, but as I watch, I'm more and more impressed by the talent, thought, and love put into your stories. Kudos.
As for a "Techtown" acronym, how about "Traders in Expert Cobbling & Hardware"? (The word "hardware" originally meant small metal goods used in various crafts; it predates computers by centuries. This creates a nice little double-meaning for Techtown 'then and now'.) Extending it to "town" could result in something like "Tested for [or Tailored to] Optimal Working Needs".
This comment deserves more recognition, that's one of the best guesses I've seen so far!
Well done on the definitions, though you can't ignore "in", "for", "to" or "and" in when it comes to an acronym. "A" and "The" you can since they normally can be left off the beginning and you still know what you are referring to. Yes, there are many companies that ignore the "of" in their acronyms, though they shouldn't when that word is a break between the others that needs to be there.
Viva needs to adopt this.

I loved this one. Original plot, no mean or vulgar jokes, and exemplifies very well to the extreme level of customer care Rowan (and his dad) are capable of. Left behind a tiny bit of mystery.

This episode was arguably one of the most boring and unfunny.
I think this episode was unusual, because it was much less silly. Personally, I did enjoy it, although I wouldn't expect many episodes in this vein.

I think it's cool that Rowan's dad cobbled shoes in front of the camera. That's some nice skill.
Tons of companies diverged from their origins over the years, Nintendo selling cards or Samsung the fish exporter, this bit took the classic series joke of an utterly silly demand at face value and in classic BORED fashion fulfilled it with now a wholesome and heartwarming twist on it.

@@kooldudematt1 Byron's uniform is blue, so the expressman is probably the origin of that in that hypothetical (it's the same job). hatter could probably change to Haberdasher tbh since it means "clothing-seller" (meaning their specialties would be in fitting/patching clothes, fixing shoes, selling clothes and shoes, and delivery of those items, so it's thematic), though with how erratic Adam is as a character sometimes id believe it if it was made canon that he comes from a family of former Hatters lol
tradesmen is a bit broad of a term bc all the mentioned jobs are just different kinds of trades, though it could technically be T(ECH)Town for Tradesmen's (Expressmen, Cobblers, and Handymen) Town, maybe formerly just Tradesmen's Town before needing to specify to the public what they even offered. engineer as an offered service at a small stationary shop probably doesnt make much sense for the time period of its opening, but Tinkerer to replace the T part could serve that role. hatter could also be changed to Horseshoer to lean more into the delivery aspect of it, since if they had expressmen delivering by horsecart itd make sense to have a horseshoer in-house instead of hiring one out. lot of options lol
I appreciate the fact that the owner isn't like his son who just accepts some ridiculous request for no random reason, but can actually do the job himself with skill...and without insulting his employees as incompetent.

Oh my, this is real quality content. Nice setup, surprising development, great conclusion, wonderful visual and audio additions. Fantastic actor who did the cobbling, adding charme and heart to the scenes.

@@shaneh1003 Nah, I know the channel for a long time. Not saying anything before is bad, of course. Greatness all around. Honeywood sketches are really nice. But I liked this story-wise better than a number of other Bored sketches in the vein of "frustrated employees are getting humiliated by their boss or have an unpleasant episode with a weird customer". As a number of others have commented, this had a higher "wholesomeness-factor", and I agree. Other sketches are also very good, just personal preference.
@@nicknamenescio “Baelin’s Route” is when I was first really blown away by their production. They already had really great stuff that I thoroughly enjoyed, but that hit on another level beyond what I ever expected from UA-cam-based content. This video was nice, but I can’t really agree with so many thinking this is beyond expectations. They’ve been leading into this for quite a long time now, and recently made their big moves into a new tech store (recording studio).
This was way more wholesome than I expected 😂
