- As the weather warms up I prepare for one last day at Joshua Tree National Park. It's a Wednesday but the crowds are out in force and rampant narcissism confirms my decision to not return to this park for this season.
While there though I hit several very popular hikes and get to see some very unique things.
Thanks to John R. and his family for a fantastic dinner and a fun night and morning!!

FYI, I sat at that entrance monument for over an hour waiting for people to leave so I could get that solo drive by shot!
Haha!
Jay Wanders Out dedication!
Rogue Preparedness ahhhhh, the things you do for us, lol! Thanks jay! I think it was worth it!
Beautiful filming.
Amazing how a delicate flower can bloom out of tough thorny cacti. It makes sense that the color is intensely vibrant. There’s a life lesson in that. 😊
That was a great video! Thanks 🙂
For sure the hershey kiss. Another great one
Oh come on Jay, use the handle 🤣
Beautiful music you have chosen here
It's an ultralight duster now
Thanks for making us feel like we're right there with you! Your videos are so beautiful and special.
Another good video, thanks Jay, take care
Hello Jay, thank you for another fine video. You did a fine job of capturing the beauty of the desert area. Be safe out there keep those great videos coming along. 🤗
Thank you. This wasn't my first time in the park but definitely the right time to catch some of those blooms.
Wow, i have never been impressed with JTNP having not ever been there other than virtually. Your video totally changed my mind about the park! Really well done. Thanks!!
Just whatever you do do NOT go on a weekend! Even on weekdays there were bug lines to get in but after 8:00am or so. Also if you get an annual pass you get to go through an express lane of sorts so get that before hitting the park.
Looking good Jay. Always love your curious nature. That's what made your PCT hike so enjoyable!
I gave away maybe 7 Cherry Cokes to thru hikers a few days ago! I know you'd be proud. Thank you very much for the compliment.
@@JayWandersOut boom! That's awesome!
Wow, such an amazing video! The cactii and the blossoms/flowers are just beautiful. Never seen this kind of cactus (Ocotillo) before, the red flowers are so pretty kool! And these rock formations - beautiful. Thanks for filming. Have a good time, be safe and enjoy your journey.
It's odd learning they flower at all then seeing them a few days later and there were some great examples too. Got lucky.
That desert is beautiful. I’ve lived in Southern California my whole life and just visited there a year ago.
Jay , I was going to tell you this but you beat me to it. Stop by a grocery store and in the cleaning section find a Swiffer Duster. My backwoods vehicle was a Jeep Wrangler ( Rag Top ) from 2003 to 2017. The only thing that worked as far as cleaning the dust was that Swiffer Duster.
Always something new to see. Very cool vid!
Thanks! Only 68 or so videos for the series for you and you can take a break! Well, whatever type of break you get with an infant and a toddler anyway.
Try a “swifter” for your dust😀
Never mind.... typed too soon...
It's still working great. That blue thing I had was so horrible.
Your always welcome at our home!
Always? 😁 Hanging out with a great family, talking about hiking, and playing with kids and dogs is my kind of visit.
Yes, just let us know the next time you are down in our neck of the woods. 😆
Hershey's Kiss!!!
I. Was at JT for the first time in March I love it then. I'm like with a SUV you can get away from people. I went into coyote canyon at a spot on the map called Desert Garde., lots of wildflowers and blooming cactii.
You should do the CDT and act next year
Both in one year? Well the thought has crossed my mind but I'm waiting on something else right now. We'll see.
Just pick one LoL
Beautiful video! We saw a lot of ocotillos on the PCT near Scissors Crossing but didn’t know what they were called. Thanks for the info! We were just reading about cholla and dogs because we are considering taking our dog with us on a part of the AZT while we wait for the snow to melt in the Sierras. It makes sense that the trailhead first aid kit has combs b/c you are supposed to quick and get the cactus out with a comb before your dog tries to bite them out (and then they get stuck in their mouth, ouch!).
I had no idea they had flowers until I learned just before filming this. I was so fortunate to have seen such beautiful examples of those flowers as well. Who knew?
Some day I'll make it out to JT
Just absolutely avoid the weekends and try to go before they man the entry posts otherwise the line starts. It's pretty nice and farr more than just Joshua Trees like I thought.
My plans were to visit JT after Coachella music festival ended. I was so close! Headed home to Orange county to recuperate instead.
Being a veteran like you I came across something that might interest you. There is a 70 year old female 30 year Navy veteran who is walking across the United States. She’s not on UA-cam as far as I know but she has a Facebook page called Honoring Veterans Across America. I know this is kind of off topic but with you being a veteran and a prolific walker I thought you might like this. Still love your videos and wish you all the best.
You are an exceptional visual artists and story teller 👍🏻 I think you should submit this vid to Joshua Tree National Park. It was quite captivating and really amazing and beautiful. Happy adventuring! 🌺
Thanks but it wasn't that good. Maybe a few seconds though... I admit I got super lucky with those ocotillo flowers though! They were beautiful.
Just more money and garbage left to throw away .Working in a mill before I retired , that fine wood dust is just as bad and cleans up easy with just a damp towel. You still need a way to carry more water for the summer , yeah just rinse towel and use over or use that pad that came in the green box and spray armor all on it and shine your car and clean it at the same time , then rinse pad. No garbage
I live in Joshua Tree and when I had a big dog and would walk him in the neighborhood, I carried salad tongs to pull out the cholla balls. Those little tweezers wouldn't be that helpful.
Salad tongs?! Hilarious.
Do vehicles with AWD also have the ability to drive those types of roads? Or do you need specialized tires?
I'd say any car can drive most of the roads except I think some geology drive. I never went down there but I thought I read you need AWD just in case. You should fine in your Suburu though.
@@JayWandersOut good to know Jay, thanks!
