Had my encounter here in Utah at age 12 while hunting mule deer with my step dad, uncle and a friend named John. My second was while pulling field guard on a Battery Section of Self Propelled Artillery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. This was the early 90s and almost cost me my military career because of my written field report. To old too care who believes or not.I didn't ask or look for it but they exist. 🌲👣👣👣🌲
I believe you...
I believe you.
Just as an aside, my youngest son spent a few months at Fort Sill.
What did they look like? What happened?
My son just had an experience here in Northern Utah a couple of weeks ago!
I am from Utah. Would love to hear your story. Send it t Chris. What did you see?
Thanks,
I had a closeup encounter with a sasquatch when I was 12 yrs old in Ocean Shores, Washington State...unforgettable experience....this beast was no more than 30 ft away from me leaning against a tree staring me down...although it was upright leaning against a tree, I recall that its fingertips were almost touching the ground....very strange indeed, and I have to say...it looked nothing even remotely close to the familiar pictures that everyone is used to seeing.
Somewhat of a greenish brown with matted dreadlock styled mangy coat of fur and its face looked like it was hit with a shovel...flattened features....pretty scary
Was it smelly? Eye color?
How did you get away from it? Did it communicate with you?
@@spiritualrabbitt3765
no communication ...just looking at each other.
Took me several minutes to figure out what I was looking at.
I stood up and started backing away and He straightened up, turned and just walked back into the woods...I watched him go and he didn't even look back....seemed uninterested
Where abouts in Ocean Shores did you see this creature?
You said that it walked back into the woods, so was that area the "weatherwax" area?
We have been going to Ocean Shores for all my life and I've fortunately never had an encounter, thank goodness!
Gee, I truly hope that you don't ever see another one!
Thank you for sharing!

I've been to Joshua Tree dozens of times and even toured it on my bicycle and camped. Never had a frightening experience there. Thanks for the story.
You never will... this is B.S.
You’re so funny Chris the way you said “ we’re having a mind haze IPA man “ 😂😂😂😂 Thanks for all the great stories Chris!
Thank you for being such a wonderful diversion from all the negative things in our world ! It’s a lovely place to settle in and feel like your in the woods with you listening to these frightful stories. I love all the details you include . Where you are , all the beautiful views ,pictures of trail heads and the locations of the stories !! Plus the sound effects are awesome too! And to make the experience even richer you include all your cool equipment and tips and recommendations and of course beer ! Your meals are always yummy looking and the glow of the lantern and fire 🔥add so much to the whole story telling scene !! Love your ideas to do other spooky content like ufos , ghosts etc.
looking forward to many more ! Thank you 😊 and “ keep hiking 🥾 “ ha ha
Crazy. Dad retired from USMC and I grew up in 29 Palms right outside of JT . Used to go up there as a boy scout and camp and later as a teen and party in the "Monument" as us locals called it. Heard local stories of a Yucca Man that used to be up there but never saw anything. Did see numerous UFO's up in that area growing up though.
👍🏿💯💯
Grew up in yucca valley and I love giant rock and the mystery surrounding the integration👍
So I love all your stories and that is partly why I'm here but what I absolutely love and learn from is your ability of story telling. The way you have an experience created around story telling rather than just rambling. It is uhm almost ASMR for me when I watch you calmly walk in and drown that beer in cold water and settle down to have a conversation with your camera. Thank you!
Wow... It seems like there is simply no environment that these creatures cannot adapt to. Except for inner cities possibly. Haven't really heard of any being seen on the Vegas Strip or anything like that. Thanks. Enjoyed the story.
If the city has cave systems, they're there
They don’t live above ground… they’re also “not from around here”. If you take my meaning.
@@joshuapatrick682 You might be right about that.
Thank you for another good one! The sad part is that I am only about 3 stories away from watching all of your stuff, now I will have to go back and listen to them all again! Take care, keep hiking and don't stop sharing the great stories. Rosey - Upstate New York, some of the BEST hiking and camping in the northeast; lakes, falls, gorges, open fields, rolling hills, we have em all!

That's a very freaky story! I think it's the first I've heard a desert encounter. You're a good storyteller, Chris, and I really enjoy when you take us camping/hiking with you.
Thanks so much!
The Joshua Tree area has long been reported to have some very strange things occur there.
@@basecampchris where do you find all of these true stories? You seem to know sooo many of them.
Look up "yucca man".
@@jeffalbillar7625 Thanks for tip.
Hey Chris, this is the second video I've seen of yours and just wanted you know how much I enjoy your stories. I love how you have that silhouette with those eyes staring at you from the woods in the background while you're telling the story , really adds to it.
Forget Bigfoot. JTNP has large packs of aggressive feral dogs roaming. That’s something to be worried about.

Can you elaborate on that
Great story telling of experiences about people who had extreme close encounters with a Bigfoot.🦶🏻
While listening to your stories, I always glance my eyes on the farthest trees/forest behind you to see any shadows or movements. Yikes, you’re brave!😄
Same here!
Paranoia by proxy?
@@mousetreehouse6833 😄Absolutely!
Another awesome show, Chris. I never miss a single one of them.
I lived just outside of the park in Joshua Tree village a couple of years ago. I spent a lot of time hiking in the park without incident. I will say, however, that people would go missing frequently. Some were found but often they were not. The last one who disappeared during my time there was a visitor from Canada who went for a hike to take photos just before he was to return home. He even told his wife what trail he was going on. No sign of him was found to my knowledge.
Thanks for the story. I was not aware of this incident.
You have a beautiful family!
I heard a guy tell a story about seeing a group of dogmen marching at Joshua Tree as he was night hiking, crazy but I believe him. I've heard more from there but can't think of it right off.
@@easternncbigfoot1288 there are stories of devil dogs and also "yucca man" in that area.
@@jeffalbillar7625 Yea I've heard quite a few creepy stories from out that way.
I worked at mine near northern edge got to learn alittle bit about area it has deer to my surprise& there are small natural springs if no where to look .so food &water anything could live there...no shortage of UFO s starting work at 4 see a lots of strange ...lol
@@Tomcat8911 Yes, it seems that wherever there's ufo activity other things are usually there too.
Thanks for the story Chris. Crazy that the whole family got to see it.
I would imagine it's changed their whole lives especially the kids lives.
They witnessed a 70s hippie high on drugs in a costume.....nothing out of the ordinary unless a family like this has never wandered outside their bubble.
I am absolutely hooked on your storytelling. I have sent your videos to several of my friends and family. If only we could tell a story like you lol and of course they have true facts behind them. Anyway thank you Chris
Wow, thank you!
My friend and her son were just there last week! I sent your video and waiting for her feedback! Ty for sharing
So strange…one trip we stopped south of Olancha /Little Lake because my nephews had to pee. I was walking down this dirt road around what was the foundation of an old hotel. It was late afternoon. My nephew and I saw a giant foot print in the sand heading up hill towards The Sierras Golden Trout Wilderness.
Scary but a good one!!
@@basecampchris nothing scary about snakes 🦂🦂🦂 scorpions, eagles, turkey buzzards, coyotes in the desert..
This story was in there mind.
There has never been no stories of a big hairy creature in the desert in Mohave desert ever.
Only the one you say happened some 43 yrs ago. It's been 28 yrs since a black bear wandering way down in Joshua tree state monument at the time, way down out of it's territory many yrs ago..
No good up close pictures have ever been taken. And there never had been any hairy bodies ever found or killed anywhere in the world 🌎.
I still waiting for someone to show us a body
Dinosaurs NEVER died out ! I have pics of real foot prints too of different ones, even dragons ! Have had MANY sightings of different ones and even frightening experiences of being chased at night. Stood in the foot print of a Brontosaurus in Alaska, among many other experiences, even in the US, California, etc.
@@HolyAscencieonChurch Ok now..
That’s cool, maybe it was actually BigFoot’s footprint you saw 🤔 Who knows.
I just love your videos Chris! I have friends (married) who live in Michigan. They go to Joshua national park every other year or so for vacation. They really love the area. I can't wait to share this video with them 😂🤣
Wow amazing that they saw this thing. It’s known as the Yucca Man. Basically a desert Sasquatch. I’ve never seen one and I lived there for years. That’s pretty wild. Because I really had a hard time believing there was a viable food source for such a creature to exist out there.
Amazing how mankind has discovered extinct rare animals and their remains from over millions of years ago, yet not even 1 specimen of this sasquatch has ever been found dead or alive which is so popular amongst the believers and their encounters in modern times.
I grew up there and my dad’s been there 40 years, I don’t believe there’s enough food source for a creature like a Sasquatch.
@@defunct2232 It survives on a steady diet of scientists and atheists
@Travis Travels, I camped in Joshua Tree all throughout the early-mid 70s and this story is bullshit. Sorry. Like we did when we camped back then though, maybe the family took a dose of acid before they drove out.
There isn't a viable food source in JTNP for anything like this "creature". This is a silly story.
Haha, back in the old days, 79 and 80! Made me chuckle.
Thanks, Chris. You’re one of the good guys. Great videos too ✌️
This one creeped me out. Laying on my bed, window open, light rain, kept thinking I was hearing something outside! Lol
Someone below said they saw something behind you, I was half watching behind you too imagining if someone or something walked up on you.
That’s weird. I wasn’t watching the entire time, listening with eyes closed. Now I want to watch again although I think someone may be having some fun here in the comments.
Can’t get enough of these stories. Thank you!!

When ever I hear Joshua Tree National Park… I get nervous. It’s not a sweet little park to go hang out in. It’s a death trap for those who don’t know what they’re doing. There should be ratings for parks, like ratings for 4W drive roads. Also, people need to realize that they are never alone, no matter how alone they feel. Human or otherwise…
You left us hanging, Elizabeth.
Please elaborate.
🙏
You sound like a person who watches ancient aliens on history channel or something. Stop being so dramatic lol
The woman speaks the truth .we are never alone..ever..there is always the big fella upstairs watching every single move we make..
It's a great camp site. First went there as a kid. Scared people should not venture outside, there might be shadows.

Keep the stories comming Chris! Be safe & remember bear spray works on people too. I didn't see the figure, but it's always a good idea to have a plan not only for critters, but people too! I have driven across the U.S. 3 times, and my "A" plan was bear spray, my "B" Plan was bug spray & a lighter. My friend asked why the bug spray. I said first, it's reasonable for me to have it, and second, when I hit the spray with the lighter, a bad person will think a flippin' DRAGON is comming out my tent! 😉 Keep Hiking!
In Co. it is illegal to use bear spray on a human. Just don't get caught . If your life is threatened , do what it takes to stay alive. God bless

I've lived 4 miles from Joshua Tree National Park for over 55 years now. I was a back country volunteer for 10 years and have logged thousands of hours and miles hiking. When we were kids camping up in the monument/park, we would tell scary Yucca Man stories around the campfire at night. Legend has it that Yucca Man was an 'defective' child left to die in the desert by his parents. He was taken in and raised by a pack of coyotes. His body is badly scarred from injuries and rock rash. We constantly made up new stories Yucca Man, one of the constants is his incredible stench. A miasma so foul it makes vultures gag. He is myth and legend and fun to make up stories about but he isn't real. The only thing scary about JTNP is it is part of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts, real deserts that will kill you if you don't follow her rules.
I’m from 29 Palms and have heard all the Yucca Man stories too lol. My dad used to tell stories about the mythical creature.
Hey BTW, we probably know each other! My dad, Don Malone, was the art teacher at 29 Palms high school

I sincerely hope that Britain under Charles III can become a beacon for the rest of the world in terms of working towards racial and class harmony, the environment, righting colonial wrongs, reparations for slavery, etc. I think that Charles and his sons have a wonderful opportunity to be great. Great story ... makes you wonder what would have happened if the family had headed back a minute or two later .
Really scary when it was charging the car and I have heard stories at least with dog men that they get pissed off no pun intended when humans piss on their turf .
This has to be at least the 6th time I've heard of a Cryptid getting mad at a person shortly after peeing on the ground .
Some kind of a turf thing where they don't want others marking their turf I guess .
Ah so that's what pisses them off. Yes that could be, they don't like others marking their turf. That must mean that they mark their own turf by pissing everywhere. Blimey how disgusting...
Interesting!!! I never connected the 2 things together! Good point.

@@gardensofthegods awww thank you. Scotland is so beautiful but its changed so much culturally. Also most of its private due to a lot of people with big bucks coming over from other countries and England, buying up all the properties and making the land and waterways private. Its hard to go fishing, you need to pay for permits or the queens bailiff will fine you money or charges by police. Theres a lot more too. We want independence but the rigged our result in 2014 so we list even though we won.
@@yeshuas_follower yes I did know it was changing culturally there a lot and I had always wanted to live in the UK since I was a kid and then started thinking about how much it's changing there and that people don't even have freedom of speech to talk about when horrible things happen because of these cultural changes .
I've also heard ... well I don't know about in Scotland but in England people are not allowed to even have a Swiss Army life on them , which is crazy ... I hear they are not even allowed to carry pepper spray for protection .
Here in America one must have a fishing license for any kind of fishing no matter what it is and in every state in America ... I don't know how long it's been like that but I would say probably pretty long ... maybe a couple decades at least .
I do remember when the vote was going on but in my memory it seemed more like 2015-2016 ? I guess the time really flies .
It's possible it was rigged especially if it was done electronically .
Isn't that name taken from the book that was later it made into the movie with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves ?
That was a great story , my Dad loved it also .
Have you ever heard of the Dogmen Encounters Radio channel here on the tube ?
If not I think you would love it because the people tell their own experiences themselves and he does a light interview with them .
But the earlier stories are not as good for whatever reason they're just not as riveting except for the one from Cheshire , England .
There are hundreds of stories on the channel now and some of them are really mind-blowing .
There are a number of channels that are about Cryptids .
I doubt you people are having the horrible hot weather again ... I'm sure things have cooled off and I thought things were cooling off here in Dallas but now this week they will be around 97 degrees Fahrenheit and that's without the heat index .
Have you ever seen anything weird there in Scotland ... any Cryptids or anything like that ?
The stories were freaking me out so bad about 4 or 5 years ago that I actually stopped going into the woods alone for over 2 years .
At one point recently I thought it would be interesting to see one of them , especially a dog man but then I came back to my senses and realized now I don't want to see them especially not up close .
Maybe a Bigfoot a Sasquatch because people say in general they tend to be really gentle and empathetic and there are many stories of people having nice interactions with them
That's a amazing story. We live in northern Idaho next to Montana and Canada. But have winter a few times at Desert Hot Springs. Very close to Joshua Tree National Park. Listening to this as a truck driver parked 5ft from the Oregon forrests in Mt Shasta is a new level of scary 😨
yeah don't get too comfortable. not a fan of picnic / rest areas up there either be safe
@@Skyy_415 I was the only one parked in a dirt lot down this small road just off the highway. Definitely wasn't a good idea listening to these stories lol. I was scanning the tress all night
@@alo4912 lol, know what u mean
Having camped, and explored, both Joshua Tree, and the Mojave Preserve, extensively for the last 35 years, I’m very skeptical of this story from some newbies from Michigan. Have never heard of anything like this, from other people who have spent even more time there than me.
Agree 💯. I camp/hike alone every time I'm there, which is 4-5 times per year. I've never felt such peace anywhere in the world. The occasional rattler is probably what I look out for the most.
It's bullshit. Been out there a 1000 times.
Please enjoy the story telling of Chris, :)
I lived a quarter mile from the entrance to Joshua Tree, and hung out there all the time.70's. This is a BS story, But your good at retelling it.
@@pearlthedrone I'm more cautious about the Pacific Rattler and Diamond Back than of a supposed bigfoot. I am within 2 hours of JT and have been there for years and years and I've had more run-ins with humans than bigfoots. lol
Great video Chris! Love your stories!
Total Kool! Chris is crankin em' out!
