Using the marker on the teeth is genius. I don't ever recall hearing that until now. Especially needed on fine teeth like a dovetail saw has. Thank you!
@@RobCosmanWoodworking Yes. Those markers go from "Fine" to WIDE in the blink of an eye, even on smooth surfaces. I wish someone would come up with a good marking pen that doesn't end up with 40 others that have all been set aside because they no longer make a line that is sharp.
They should be sharp, and if they’re not I wouldn’t buy it. Sharpening a saw is something that used to be a profession. Sharpening your plane blades was something you would do on a regular basis.
Can we follow these instructions and put a progressive pitch on our saw? I have a couple of ancient saws I bought on eBay that sharpening isn't going to be enough and was thinking of jointing the blade down flat and then making a template of 14 TPI for the 1st inch on the toe and then 10 TPI for the rest of the saw. Will that work?
Thank you and your guests for taking the time to let's us into your class! Great vidio!
Glad I got to keep my wrist. Lol great video fellas.

Think Tom LN showed me that. Wide tip marker works better though the process ruins the marker for anything else.

Thanks Rob.
Do saws generally come sharpened when purchased new or does one need to sharpen it just like a chisel or a plane?
