3 questions
1) What is the name of that lovely looking barbering chair?
2) Do you have a link to where I could purchase the yellow tool box
3) Where did you get the magnetic holder for the scissors?
Your videos are excellent and your barbershop setup is immaculate.
Did this cut on my hubby. First time, there were some missed spots that I let go..second time, much better. About to be on my third cut. I feel confident. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. My husband hair is blonde and thin like this gentleman, and this is exactly how we want the hair cut look on him, but not success at hair cut places, so I’ll be trying this technique on his hair. Thank you.
I've never cut anyone else's hair before in my life, so I used this video as a guide for cutting my boyfriend's hair for the first time, and it came out amazing!! Thank you for your great explanations! 😄
Well done Chrissy I always love to hear a success story
That’s a good idea to keep the hair looking soft for older men, I was giving my dad very straight borders and it was a good haircut but something was too hard, next haircut I’m going to try a softer look when I’m shaping the outline. Looks awesome!
Let me know how you get on
@@theoneminutebarber I will for sure thank you
Always a pleasure to watch, cross checking over the comb is a great tip!
Thanks Connor
Great insights. I'd love to hear more on how you go about deciding on the initial top length for that first cut that you use as a guide. I cut my own hair and it seems like the way the top layers has a huge effect on the cut overall, especially for hair with curl/volume.
Thanks for all you do brutha! 🤜🤛
Thank you Jonas, really the top length is something I discuss with the client before and we agree on what he wants. But I do think about how much I need for flow and how much would be too much in other words causing the hair to collapse
This is so great. Its just a nice clean understanding on sectioning and cutting around the head. Thanks for this.
You're very welcome!
Спасибо Вам за видео,наконец- то увидела,как можно сделать правильно,мужскую стрижку.
Thanks for this detailed tutorial. I'm now confident that I can cut my father's hair any day.
You can do it! Let me know how it goes
forget about skin fades and tapers etc. i own a barber shop and can i tell you this haircut is your bread and butter what barber school/college does is neglect the art of a great scissor cut and only focus on clipper work when i do a trade test on a potential new barber to join my team they must do a scissor cut with no clipper use whatsoever this also included tapering the neck out and trimming the sideburns and eyebrows only using scissors from start to finish and can i tell you over 40 barbers crashed and burned on this type of cut and the person i employed was in there 40,s the moral of this is the barber schools and colleges need to focus more on scissor work as these hairstyles like fades will fizzle out! great work one minute barber
Thanks so much Gareth, where are you based?
@@theoneminutebarber I’m based in a small town just outside Glasgow I did my training In the west ends top salons but decided to Open the shop with that vintage retro shop design it’s the best move I’ve done without the west end prices of course 😂 it’s me and my fiancé that own the shop 👍💈💈💈
Ah cool what’s the shop called Im in Glasgow a few times a year so will stop and say hello if I’m in the passing
100% agree
The master barber who trained me didn't even let me touch a clipper for the first 6 months lol. My scissor cuts are my strength. Too many barbers neglect them. I see guys in their first month of barber school trying to do a fade and I tell them that they are putting the cart before the horse.
They can't even do a basic one length scissor cut and they are trying to fade smh
So true. I can’t tell you how many clients I got because they couldn’t find anyone who did a good scissor cut without having to use clippers.
Perfect cut for a side part. Would a man who parts his hair down the middle but wanting a similar outcome follow these same protocols? I watch this video over and over hoping one day I can successfully replicate it. My one client parts his hair down the middle and I'm not certain if I can use the same template or if it needs modifications. Keep up the great format for teaching.
Yes you can use this video as a template. Just make sure the sections are even rather than one side much longer for an off centre part
The graphics and camera work really make sectioning look easy. I’m cutting my own hair and use clippers - any tips on how to set this cut using clippers - I bought the extra long guards - the 10, 12 and 16s. I’d like to eventually scissor cut my own hair, as unbelievable as it seems. I have watched your self-cutting vids. Thanks again for these tutorials.
I’d use the longest number you have. To be honest I don’t think I would be able to scissor cut my own hair like this. Is very difficult doing self scissor cuts. I e seen it done but I struggle with seeing everything back to front in the mirror
I’m going to use the #20 (2.5”) for the hair on top, going with the growth to leave length. The first vid I saw of yours, I realized i wouldn’t need to scissor the top by going with the grain and using a very long guard.
The added graphics are incredible, btw. Thanks again.
I admire your work and method of instruction.
Thank you so much 😊
Hoping to get to watch tonight if we have power. Pretty worried right now with another storm coming so late in the season. Florida does not need this again. 😟
Oh no. I had no idea about that, hope you are all ok and it passes by. 😟
@@theoneminutebarber thank you 🙏
My father tried to pull this off for years. He finally grew in a pretty sweet mohawk/short mullet and we got him out of that pretentious “business” suit. He immediately began getting investors he could not land previously. Unfortunately he lost them after he returned to this haircut and those suits. Dale Carnegie wrote Dress For Success And we have one hell of a job in Florida correcting “corporate fashion” when people move here. I guess you have to be the only one in a suit on a beach or yacht before you realize it’s a mistake for 2022.
I like the sound of Florida

I really loved the way you explain.
I’m coming from a barber shop that only did fades now I work at a shop where they want this. I’m dying I feel like I’m just chopping as best as I can making sure it equal but this looks so organized I need this!
I hope it’s useful.
It is scary, but try and embrace it. The more you do the better you will get and you will eventually prefer cutting this way.
This video helped me more in 12 minutes than 1800 hours of barber school did
Great trim thank you. I always struggle doing the left side of the hair with the horizontal sections, my scissors seem to get a bit too close to the ear so especially around the sideburn area, any tips for this?
I think from what you are explaining you need to keep your sections really thin as you work down towards the ear. So thin that you can see your previous guideline through. This should keep you right
@@theoneminutebarber thank you
Nice and easy to understand cut.Thank you so much ❤❤❤

My husband will love it!
Can this same idea be applied to different hair? I have curly hair and don’t comb it back but would like this haircut and wondering if the tenets this hold up on most hair
It depends how curly. If it’s just a wave you’ll get a curtains type finish but if it’s very curly and stacks, you’ll get disproportional weight on the top
When you're cutting the sides horizontally with the shear and comb, are you only supposed to work from top to bottom or can you also work from bottom to top? Would this produce the same effect or something different?
You can work both ways and it's just a matter of preference. My reason for cutting topo to bottom is that I remove the weight as I work my way down, If on the other hand I was to work up the way, the long hair from above will be getting into the scissor and leaving me with a thicker amount to cut
omg!!! i love it!! thank you 🙏
You're welcome 😊
你的视频讲解清晰,真的好。赞!
Nice hair and good haircut
Great video thank you 👍
We Turks are very successful in cutting hair with scissors. We do this job by receiving training from both the master and the academy.
Heads up, Barbers use shears, seamstresses use scissors, nice video.
In the UK we use shears in the garden.
Very nice hair cut. Thank you for this tutorial
My pleasure 😊 thank you
Thank you for this video!! I’m excited to try this on my partner tonight. He’s thinning abit on the top, would that effect the way I should cut?
You should just cut it in the same way. Good luck, feel free to send a photo to my Instagram of the final cut.
Gracias por compartir de lo que sabe !!

Спасибо, 👍👍👍👍👍
Why some barbers cut the corners (left and right) to a rounder shape (contoured to the headshape - just like you do all the time) and other barbers leave the corners and cut everything completely straight - they say that this looks more masculine when you leave the corners longer and it look more square?
I agree, and you can see in some of my videos that I use a squarer shape. However on a longer haircut if it's squarer on the corner then there is more chance the corner will collapse, and more so as it grows in.
@@theoneminutebarber thank you for your response! What Kind of shape would you recommend for a Natural brush back hairstyle?
Use a round shape for that. Almost a uniform layer that tapers around the edges
มีซับไทย thanks you
Super ... felicitări!
cross check you have to do with the fingers...not with the scissor, because than it is getting inaccurate. Take a look at professionals from vidal sassoon
You are right and wrong Casey. Cross checking works well with fingers on the sides but also works well on the sides without any tension. Infact probably better without tension as that compensates for irregular skull bone joins.
Can’t slide my shears In like that bc my shear tip is slightly open.
That’s strange they don’t close completely or are the loose at the tips?
can you make a video for a long hair style haircut? please
Hopefully I really want to do a Timothy chamalet style cut for the channel, just need to find a model
Another really helpful video.
Generally speaking, is it the more sections the better?
On certain hair types it's more important. The thicker and straighter the hair the more sections you will need.
If you are cross checking then you should be able to iron out any imperfections.
@@theoneminutebarber I've registered with your online course. I'll need to get myself booked in for a trim at your shop.

Doesn't this give the hair a choppy look and hair fly aways? How do you men's hair this same style with hair all same length?
The most important thing is to retain enough length that the hair flows and will actually bend without the use of a hairdryer
He looks tons better
Hello. Good time. I would like to thank you for your informative activities, Mr. Holm.(M>IR)❤
Thank you.

I’m no hairstylist and I tried this haircut on my husband. He says: “this is the best looking haircut I’ve ever gotten” (and no, he’s not one to blow smoke lol). Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial!
That is awesome! You Must be a natural
Scissor over comb cuts are the best. When cut properly, the hair grows out so nicely without that fuzzy look from a clipper cut. I can typically get 7-8 weeks out of a nice , short scissor cut. Thanks for the great videos. I am able to give my barber specific instructions to get exactly the look I want.
I totally agree! Thank you
Thanks for the tutorial. I began cutting my dad's hair during lockdown, and now even though things are quite normal again he doesn't feel like going to the barbershop. He's become a little frail and getting out of the house is a challenge. He looks pretty good 😊
You're so welcome! Good for you for becoming his favourite barber 💈🙌
I heard your Dad has a real sweatheart for a daughter. :)
I think i got it. My husband has scissors and a clippers. His hair grows fast. It's hot in Southern California. I thought if I can just cut his hair instead of going to the barber💈and coming home with a different cut each time. It would be a win win situation. My husband has less hair on top. I'll just take it easy up there. THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH😊
Love your videos, excellent camera work makes it easy to understand and learn from. You are a gem! Heartfelt thanks and appreciation. ❤👏👏👍
Thank you so much Jo 😊
Beautiful hair cut , that’s why I suscribe , I’m cutting my husband hair , but now I’m going to do it better thanks too your instructions , thanks 😊
Thank you Margarita 😊
In your prior scissor tutorial, you did the removal with horizontal sections first and fine-tuned with vertical. Here you do the opposite, but the results appear to be quite similar. Is there any advantage to one method over the other?
No not really. On the channel I really want to show that there is a thousand ways to cut hair and something that suits everyone.
The main thing is always that there is a plan in your head of how to complete the cut.
Dude thanks u soo much this is one of my favorite cuts I’m fresh out of cosmo school I have a client today and am a little nervous but u re iterated it so well for me
I hope it helps. Good luck
I rather like definition on the neck and hairline. Cut and look is good just like it tydier clean looking
lol..lots of brave husbands and fathers. I really like this haircut but it's hard to explain to my stylist how to cut it and I always come out with the same haircut. Anybody want to cut my hair? 😛
I'd cut it for you. You should send the video to your barber and ask if it would be suitable for your hair.
@@theoneminutebarber no, I would hate to offend her. I wouldn't be in this problem if you live same town as I..lol

Mr. Holm, your tutorials are excellent, I am waiting for your other clips thanks😀
More to come!
Thank you so much 😊 excellent haircutting tutorial ever 😊 Hubby is finally happy with his haircut 🎉 I'm happy no cuts or standing around looking at the ceiling.Wishing he would just go bald...🤭
😂
I'm having a problem grasping the technique of scissor over comb. Do I pull each little section the same length away from the scalp. Also this cut looks really good and you didn't point cut it... is point cutting usually necessary. I like the way you explain things without getting into too much detail... love your accent too. Sandra.
If you go to 6:43 in this video you can see how I would do it

lovely haircut ! if you work from the bottom,up,do you have to use the length of hair at the bottom of the crown,to establish a length for the top,to keep it balanced around the crown ? and do you only cross-check the back, from the occipital bone, downwards ?
Not necessarily, I don't tend to work from the bottom up on scissor work as it means the hair I'm cutting has hair from above laying on top of it. However you could get tighter on the occipital bone if the overall goal will be to take the crown shorter.
@@theoneminutebarber ok ? thanks.

You are calling parting lines, sections. Parting lines are smaller increments then sections. Also your cutting over your knuckles mate, not advisable to make straight lines. Just saying!
