He was too ‘wild’ for anyone else - in reality he was just terrified

  • 5 years ago, Rudniks life nearly came to an end when he was left at a livestock auction.
He was so terrified he was throwing himself around, pacing and restless. Everyone who attended saw the 9 month old colt as wild, and unruly.
So a KB threw out the only bid on the little colt…

Nearly happened to a young horse that the man who bought mother and kid thought was crazy. But the kid horse was just super shy and svnsitive and scared and acted out bc of that, then the guy couldn't catch him (he just bought horses without even having experience tbh) so his small snuffle kinda ingrew with the horse growing and causing him pain.
My friend said give me the horse, first they had to sadly traumatize the poor thing first as it was needed to hold it to get rid of the snuffle, but then she let him just run on the meadows freely with the herd around half a year (these horses roam aroung in nature all year without a stable), never trying to approach and just observed from afar that he was taken in by her herd. She just worked with the other horses like always. So he grew freely in the safety of a whole herd and eventually got more curious and braver, so my friend and him connected eventually.
Today he can be even ridden by the tourists visiting, but he's still a sensitive soul, so my friend doesn't allow everyone to ride him, he e.g. cannot stand one of our male friends because the male friend is kinda pushing too hard in his way of alpha male persona and the horse instantly becomes nervous and stubborn.
To think that this beautiful horse might have been slaughtered bc an unskilled man or some other farmers would have unpatient, don't even wanna think about it.

Awww I love that! I love hearing stories like this. So happy your friend was so kind and patient with him - we need more horse people like that in the world! 🥰

They do better in pairs but animals are sensitive and not everyone knows enough or is patient enough

100%! Unfortunately Rudnik is my only horse but I’ve always made sure that he has friends where he’s boarded! It’s definitely a commitment that takes a lot of time and patience ♥️

I love how you are present in the moment with Rudnik. You were constantly giving him positive reinforcement, why would anyone think you can beat an animal into submission? They aren't submissive they are terrified and a terrified animal is not an animal you can trust. Why should an animal trust someone that causes them harm? It does take time to build the trust bond...I have seen your recent videos, the one where he followed you out of the field and into his dry stable...that was a pure trust bond. He knows you will do nothing that will harm him, he knows he can trust you and you can trust him. Once an animal knows that they will follow you where ever you go. Once you have the trust bond, everything is much easier after that.

I absolutely despise the concept of "breaking" a horse. The word even suggests violence!!
Breaking as a concept should be a banned!
