I should have know this would happen - but I had hoped maybe this ONE time would be an exception… 😫

- To answer the common question: yes they have a full shaded shelter and trees in their pasture. Will they use it? Of course not, they’re horses. But that’s their choice but at least they still have the option.

What a life! A cool bath, treats, some farts, a roll in the dirt.....and back with his friends ❤😅
Sounds like my retirement.

@@russheimerich9512 & my afternoon!!
FYI: Some Vicks Vapo-Rub will keep the flies away! Good in the ears.
That cloud of dust at the end! Had me laughing out loud!😂
🥲😂
..Ha. me too!! 🎉
horse videos where us humans slave over them and get to just eat and be horses, are actually my fave. So relaxing
Are you sure about who's slaving over who?
😂😂love to see a magnificent horse doing those hilarious rollies in the dust!
You called it!!! He almost got back to the grassy area lol. At least he’s cooler. Fun video. Thanks for sharing 🥰
i rode in 105F heat yesterday. of course, my horse gets water breaks, an immediate hose down, etc... but i just get to melt. (he's an arabian horse and he actually doesn't seem too bothered by the heat, he's still excited to go out for lessons too)
Arab lands are very hot and dry.
@@animangle those horses are bred for that. Larger lungs and nostrils. I envy you!
@@cyndi.K9090 yes, one time the trainers tried lunging him before a competition to get some energy out.
it definitely helped him get used to the environment but more than anything it got him amped up and he didn't want to stop running. he could run forever, he has a lot of fun c:
Precious Rudnick is beautiful.he is so playful.
A fine looking horse, I guess it would be easy to fall in love with him.
Rudnik has such a cutey personality...happy his weight is good out with his friends. Think that wet dust bath acts like uv protectant, keeps them cooler 🐴
It does and it also helps as a fly repellent!
@@rudniktheroan I knew there’d be a logical reason for the roll in the dust, other than getting you cheesed. At the hitching post just before you picked his hooves he was almost glowing. Such a beautiful horse!
It was a gorgeous glow for the few minutes it lasted 🥲 unfortunately there are definitely more pros to being covered in dirt than shiny and clean 😭😂
@@rudniktheroan The video title was a clear indication of what he would do. It was definitely fun to watch though. 👍🏼
😀😀😀 and he is beyond gorgeous
You take such good care of him
watching your videos are bittersweet, i love horses, miss caring for them.
He's gorgeous ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thinking now about snow vids and if he is appearing be coming or going. When it is this hot out Rudnick couldn’t care less about appearances and even more less about views. He is not “horsing” around. Just saying 🐴 (emojis need more glam pics of horses seriously). Night ya’ll!!!!
Nice carrots! Be nice if they sold nice ones like that at my store. envy,envy...smiles

Hes so Handsome! Of course he had to add a little something to his bath! 😂
That was a particularly satisfying roll 😂💖
I guess new dirt feels better than old dirt.
Horses roll in the dirt to kill off fleas, ticks, lice and other parasites, so, a dirty, dusty horse is actually a happy and healthy horse! I hope this makes you feel better about his rolling, five minutes after he's been bathed. I'm sure he enjoyed the bath as well!
Love the way he looks at her (us) when he gets up from the dirt....HA! ROFLMBO
Gorgeous horse! My horse was a bay....beautiful brown with black mane and tail.
Haha, it´s great to see he is fine with the bath! Well, my mares never liked the bath as such (no hose or something else), so I have to use sponge and a bucket with warm water. Then it´s fine - usually. But they both are flapping with their lower lip and the KNOW, it´s pleasant after the water cools off in the shade of stable. They are both comedians.
Literally done and dusted 😂
Horses roll in dry dirt because the dry dirt contains healthy probiotics for their skin. His rolling around is just like you or me having some yogurt!
I’m going to lease my first horse in a few days. I learned a lot from you, especially scraping the ?bott fly eggs, then crawling up their nose, yuk 😮
Oh, LUCKY you!! How exciting for you!
I'm new to this channel ,as I'm interested in equine husbandry, well all animals aswell I want to educate myself, but botflies are abhorrent
Sometimes, ya can read 'em like a book, huh? My mini would run, squeal, buck, and fart. Ur guy is a big boy, and he is looking pretty doggone good. 💕 🤗 💕 😊
I thought the whole rolling in the dirt thing was one of the ways they kept cool, and kept the bugs off
Oh 100% it is!
OMG the cloud of dust coming out of Rudnik! Looks like a sandstorm!
LOVE THIS…! (I’ve ALWAYS wanted a horse, but…owning one never came about; I made do with occasional horse riding lessons…I find it FUN the way you react with your horses… AGAIN, I LOVE YOUR VIDS!! ❤️❤️🤣‼️
Even dirty he's a beautiful horse..
His rolling in the dirt after a bath had me smiling because that’s exactly what my dogs do as well. Lol 🤣🤣
Well yeah
1) They don't like the smell of the soap
2) It helps protect them from the sun
3) A good dust bath helps with bugs
Oh I love his sassy side 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He is so handsome.
Oh now come on! We all know you've given Rudnick special training to do this pretty much on command! Wash, brush, dry, snack, roll. Heck, even I'd roll in the dust! 😂
Your free to go now means you are free to roll now to Rudnik.
Aaaaaaaah, that feels soooooo goooood! Thank you, Mom!
As a fellow blonde who has had skin cancer, I urge you to cover up - wear a shirt with long sleeves, long pants, and a hat. You will not get too hot if the garments are lightweight. Put sunscreen on places you can't cover up - your face, your neck, your hands...
I love Rudnik's Child-Like Curiousity🐎which includes Playin in the Dirt💯😉‼️😂 deb in ALittleDirtFurRudnik, SC🐴 07/10/2024😊
#RudnikNeedsABigSandBox# 🤣🏇
His rolling around in the dust is just like using an after-bath powder.
Absolutely brilliantly done video. Happy new subscriber! 😂
Aww he is adorable 🐎❤
I love the way you staged the lighting so the dust cloud was highlighted perfectly. 🙂
My first LoVE was a horse!!! I've had MANY loves since them...i just "happened " on to your channel...im laying here with my dogs (all rescues) only have 4 now .... Creatures big + small ... ❣️ Hes Very Pretty...
He is a very nice looking horse:)
The dust cloud... Lol!
Rudnik, you are such a character! 😊❤
I used to cringe when I bathed my one horse, he was an Appaloosa that grayed out to white. He couldn't wait to roll after a bath.
He did not want to smell like shampoo for his ladies can you blame him.
Awesome video 👏
My bay thoroughbred almost looks like a buckskin by the end of the HOT SC summer! I hose him just about every day because he has sweat everywhere.
Naughty boy !
🇺🇸 Thanks for the love you give him. 🇬🇧 JR
If he’s prone to founder, maybe he can graze with a muzzle in the early am for an hour? The sugar rises in grass into the afternoon.
Unfortunately the bugger figured out how to get out of the grazing muzzle pretty quickly 🥲
@@rudniktheroan I’m so sorry. The Clever Cowgirl has a set up where she has dry lots and pasture as she rehabs animals, some can’t be on pasture at all, some just small doses…your climate can make that harder to set up, but it’s possible.
I don't even have to watch to know what he did next. He rolled around in the dirt.
Where Im from, 40 celsius is pretty normal. We only ever used to wash our horses off for competitions. Because they do.. that. But they used to swim around in our dam whenever they wanted to.
That is The Way you teach Your horse to lay Down - The Easy Way 😊 it work everytime
Maybe he doesn’t like feeling “wet”, hence the dirt roll.
Good looking horse
for a soaking to cool him better don't use the strygyl after soaking, the more water in their coat, the longer it takes to evaporate and the longer that evap cooling process works to keep him cool...
That is what I used to do, however I learned that if you don’t squeegee the water off it creates a barrier that actually traps the heat in and can cause their body temp to rise dangerously high. I never knew this until I saw an educational video on it one day. But I used to leave the water on him after our wash until I learned that
@@rudniktheroanthat is correct - their body just heats up the water and they’re enveloped in a hot bath. It’s especially important to scrape (squeegee) the water when it’s hot and humid.
Even the Friesian horses living in Norway, turn brown in the summer, if they're in the sun a lot.
Glad he is losing weight, got cooled off, had his legs checked and scraped...and had a wonderful roll over...♡
🤣 Of course.
Women, if you're in America, temp is measured in degree NOT celsius. Maybe you need to move to Europe, you can do the same job there. And be happier. SERIOUSLY
You realize I live in Canada right? 🤨🙄
Mum… this is what I think about while you are giving me a bath…😂
Maybe the dust keeps him cool
all horses do that.. mud and dust is a protection against flies
The dust is a great sunscreen, though
Happy horse
I came back and watched a few of your most recent videos since you said that you decided to start talking in them and I think they are great so far. You don't seem nervous at all so it's awesome to see. I'm obviously biased that I think you took my advice or at least partially took it but regardless of whether you took mine or maybe just thought of doing it as well, I think it really helps the videos. You're at 3,450 subscribers roughly right now so it'll be interesting to see how things progress from here. Keep it up and good luck with the channel.
Thank you! It was truly appreciated advice and very constructive criticism and I do appreciate it so much! I will continue working on all the recommendations you have given 🥰
It's funny, dog's do exactly the same thing after a wash 😅
My chihuahua goes into chaos mode rolling and tunneling under blankets after a bath 😂 it’s the cutest thing
@@rudniktheroan Haha, it's like they don't want to be caught by another dog smelling so clean 🤣
Literally 😂 like “I gotta get this flower smell off me before the guys get a whiff or I’ll never live it down,” 😂
@@rudniktheroan Haha 🤣 Yeah that's what I imagine them thinking too LoL
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣....nice try👌👌👏👏
That’s it a hose off, I expected like a car wash for horses!
He got the soap, sponge and squeegie! Not sure he would have stood around for much more than that 😂
The heat is only going to get worse. It’s 50c here in California I had added sun sail shades to my windows. Blocking the sun off the widows. You might think of some summer sun sail field squares will provid ashaded area for your horses, shade squares take for posts 12’ foot tall, buy a 16’ foot sun sail, clip each corner to each post. In the future it’s Going to get hotter when the summer over, I unclip fold it up,. My dog is dark red, he can’t stand out in the hot sun his coat cooks him. I enjoy your videos
My neighbors have a chocolate Lab. I’ve told them she might melt out in the hot sun. 🍫
Just joking, of course.
You stole his fun. You squeegeed out so much of the water there was nothing for all that good dirt to stick to. 😉
They don't like the scent of the soap, so they roll in dirt to get rid of it.
They also roll to protect themselves from bugs and the sun.
The dirt is sun protection.
Dust acts as sunscreen
It actually keeps them cooler if you don’t scrape that water off them
I used to think this as well but after more research I learned that it can actually be dangerous in the high temperatures because it actually seals the heat in with the water and can cause their temperature to rise too high! Before I learned that I was just letting him air dry but now I squeegee the water off when it’s really hot
😂😂. Too cute. Subscribed. ❤❤
🥰
horses dogs and cats after a bath. gotta get that clean off.
Good practice for having a little kid......they often do the same thing.
Horses and dogs roll in the dirt after bathing to re-establish the protective bacterial biome on their skin. Don't worry -- it's keeping him healthy! 🐎
Use a li'l lavender in his rinse.
Flies and mosquitos hate it.
It hit 45*C where I live in B.C. Canada.......this summer is gonna be a scorcher
We’re in BC as well. It’s 🔥 🥵
You know the reason he rolls around in the dirt after a bath is to cover his scent, right? If predators can't smell you they can't hunt you.
It's the same reason dogs do it after a bath - can't sneak up on prey if they smell you first.
Yes - it’s also used as a natural sun screen and fly repellent
You sure that's a horse and not a dog?
Is this a personality factor? The rolling in the sand after a bath? Or do all horses do the rolling in sand thing after bathing? Is it something to do with flies? Anyone know?
It’s just a horse thing 😂
😂❤
I think that dust is good for the skin protection ?😮😮
We term that color as Summer Black. They get dark i
He has had his water bath, it's time for a dust bath. i mean human's will use a cornstarch or another powder after their bath or shower to stay cool, why shouldn't animals.
😂😂😂😂😂
What about the others? Did they get a nice cool wash as well?
Rudniks my only horse - the others are owned by the other boarders
Does the dirt help keep bugs away?
They can help yes! I also usually keep him pretty coated in fly spray too because they can get quite nasty around here
Question... I've only been around horses a couple of times. Dogs and other animals roll in smelly stuff to mask their odor. Are horses the same or is he just being silly?
Horses do it for a few reasons. To scratch, protect themselves from bugs and the sun
@rudniktheroan Thank you! I appreciate your time. I'm sure you're very busy.
Why brush him dry ?? Would simple water evaporation not cool him down ???
Watch one of our latest videos. I explain this
Do the other horse get a bathe as well or are they just allowed to fry under the sun with no shade?
We have shade - there’s an entire shelter in the pasture plus trees. Also - they’re not my horses so that’s up to their owners
Does the dirt help keep the flies away?
Yes and acts as a sunscreen!
Isn’t the dirt on the horse natural sunscreen?
Basically yep
Don’t you know that the dirt is sunscreen!!
