Definitely very true of some guests. I had a group come in once abuse our complimentary wine samples so that all three of each of the 2 people's wines went to one guy, ordered soup after soup, had me running all over the place, talked loudly about inappropriate subjects making it uncomfortable for my other guests, stole about 6 soup spoons from their soup and salad meals, and then left 13 cents on the table and told the host I was a bad server. The host just told them that I am one of their best
@Chad Dexter Since this post I've seen these types of tables so many times over. Now I manage and I do everything I can to help our servers. Not with the same company though. I'm with a smaller corporation that is small enough that I have met the owners and some of their family on multiple occasions. It's nice to not just be a number on a spreadsheet.
Hog: “I need to order the never-ending pasta bowl... I need breadsticks x27 times!” Also hog: “ I need to watch my figure!” Somewhere in the Olive Garden Universe... this happened.
I work at OG as a hostess and I see guests that are like this all the time with server's. As soon as I sit them down sometimes they immediately try to start ordering from me, and that's not my job. Once I was trying to tell a family about our Ziosk, its this electronic thing that we use to help advertise and make the payment process easier, and the table said "I'll have a bloody marry", no sorry I'm not 21 and I don't have a license to serve alcohol and I'm not the server.
I am a restaurant customer and I just have to say that in my area that most servers have a chip on their shoulder and have bad attitudes. They treat us like crap even though we are good tippers (min. 18%) and try to make the server's job easier. We ask for sodas without ice so the servers won't have to get us refills, and the server looks at us like were from Mars. They get upset if you drop a napkin or your child accidentally drops a fork on the floor (we are not in elementary school and you get paid to clean up our mess). At one restaurant, servers used to act horribly to any customers who came in a hour before closing, then they started acting that way two hours before closing. I understand that servers have closing duties, but that should not more important than serving customers. If servers are that emotionally unstable, then they need to find another job.

These corporate chains attact all the public bottom-feeders. If you are going to be a server, find an independent resturant with a regular clientele.
