In love with the Celtic culture
Thanks for watching! :) 💗
Me too
I love Irish names. My daughter is named Kaitlin which is a modern spelling of Caitlin. I also have a niece Maeve which is a modern spelling of Meadhbh.
I appreciate that this video also doubles as story time ☺️
I loved this muchly. Thank you for sharing. I wish you had more time to do the history!!!
I love hearing all of the Irish mythology and stories. Oh my gosh just remembering all of the names, and the pronunciations and meanings to all the names is mind-boggling. I loved listening to all of them thank you so much for posting
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My name, Cliodhna never gets mentioned on anything and I love being able to hear it and the explanation about it.
Please do a video about Étaín! And maybe more on Áine too? You left me hanging/wanting more. Your videos draw me in and are completely mesmerizing. I get so engrossed in the story of each name and don’t want it to end. I don’t know how I got sent to your channel but I subscribed bcuz you lovely lady can tell a story and represent your country well. I think we all want to be Irish after hearing you share the history of these Irish baby names with such pride. I love it. ❤️ ~Stacy

These are some unique and beautiful names! I like Niamh and Aine, the pronunciation was so different than I expected lol. Good video!
Thank you! lol yeah the pronunciation can be so confusing if you don't know the Irish language :) 💗
Just came upon your channel trying to find a pronunciation of Tomaisin. I know there are fads over the o and last i. Great video! Subscribed now :)
Nice video!!
Wow, Morrigan reminds me a lot of Melusine of French mythology. Amazing story, I have her tattooed on my arm :)
these videos are great! keep them coming! I'd love to see one of Irish fairy names
Thank you! Love that idea, I'll definitely do an Irish fairy names video soon :) 💗
Love your videos, lady!!! 💕
Thank you! 💗💗
Just loving your videos! So helpful. I am writing a story for a competition where I need to set it in a fantasy world and I have decided to take Irish folklore and use the characters and names in my story. Such beautiful names. And such weird spelling haha (coming form South Africa). BUT I am loving your vidoes. Thank you. Love your accent.
Love your videos. Very interesting.
Thank you! 💗💗
Gorgeous!
I love learning all of these unique Irish names, I'm Irish myself on my mom's side and Scottish on my dad's side, would also love to learn some unique Scottish names as well if you can find the time to do that. I've been working on my family history and learned my last name comes from Angus, Scotland and my great-grandfather's name comes from Clare in Munster.
I think you are a goddess. Because of your eyes!
😄lol thank you! 💗
I love watching your videos! I am planning to name my child an Irish name (if I conceive in the future). Irish names are unique. - Sending greetings and love from the Philippines :)
You totally need to collab with SJ Strum on the Irish part of her new series where she’s doing lists of baby names from certain areas with people from those places. You two could come up with an awesome list together!
Thank you! I just saw a message from her, I'd love a collab with her! 💗
Such marvelous and lovely videos, " go raibh maith a gat!!!💖💖💖
Thank you! 💗💗
@@WolfeMomma 😘💖🤗👍☘☘☘

Oh wow what a great honor!! Boys video will be coming soon! :) 💗
@@WolfeMomma did this boys video ever happen?? 💕
Love the channel. I teach Irish spirituality- did you know that Danú is the Mother Goddess of the Tuatha but we do have a couple of older termed primeval Goddesses caller The Corra (supposedly killed by Patrick at Lough Derg) and the better known An Cailleach. Our primeval god is Cróm Cruach. Thanks for your work it’s helping me brush up my Irish.
Are there any books on Celtic Mythology? This was so interesting and I want to learn more!
OMG YOUR IRISH TOO. SORRY I JUST FOUND YOUR CHANNEL I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL😁😀😊☺
Thank you! 💗💗
Oops! You forgot to add the (written) pronunciation of Étaín! I like that name and the way it sounds! Love all of these stories so much. Who was the girl orthotist that was turned into a swan for 900 years- forgot which one it was from your other vid was that Deirdre? I’ve Met a few Deirdres in my life
You have the most beautiful voice 😍
I have always loved the name Teagan and Morrigan!
Wonderful. Ireland is the oldest of the old mythology. Despite how the history books work to say otherwise. The prehistory roots of post flood humanity lie in Ireland and this is mixed within these myths. Really pleased to hear how you understand these myths and communicate them.
Thank you! I find it all so interesting and love reading about old mythology :) 💗
I love these videos! I’m part Irish ☘️ myself on my dads side. I want to name my son or daughter an Irish name because I’m so obsessed with them. I really want to explore my past really because I’m quite unsure but I love my Irish roots! My mum is obsessed with the Irish accent she could hear it all day! She would tell me to shut up just so she could hear the Irish accent 😂💕
Where in Ireland is your dad from? Yeah, I'm the same, really want to find out more about my roots. So much gets lost through the generations! Thanks for watching! :) 💗
Wolfe Momma I’m not exactly sure. I think it’s my 3x great grandmother who was from there! I wanna say Dublin or Kilkenny? I will ask my dad. Thanks for replying! Xx
@@robynjackson1541same. My ancestors were from Ireland
Dear Wolf Momma,
I need to tell you a story concerning a another one of your Irish girl name videos. It was the one with the name Séamaisíona. See I write stories. I wanted a unique Irish, and Séamaisíona grew on me. The funny thing is though when I first heard you say it I thought you said Séamaisíoma so from one name a new one was born. I used the mistaken spelling because I like the boy’s name Seamus. So thank-you.‼️❗️
Thank you so much! I actually mispronounced it a couple of times 🙈It's Séamaisíona but I accidentally said Séamaisíoma 🤦♀😂
I love those! If you could do one for boy names that would be awesome!
Thank you! Boy version will be coming soon :) 💗
Please do another Irish goddess names!
❤❤❤
If you did podcasts, I would definitely listen
Ueah me too
Into the West is a Jim Sheridan film starring Gabriel Byrne and features the magical horse Tir na nOg. Highly recommend it.
I'm Irish-American (3rd generation) but my family came over from Kerry. It is beautiful! My family and I visited Ireland a few years ago for a HUGE family reunion. We stayed in a cute and quaint bed and breakfast in Tralee. The roads are so narrow and windy over the mountain was so scary but it was so beautiful. I love all the history and meaning you shared, thank you!!!
Tralee is one of the only places in Ireland I've never visited but I would love to go! It looks so beautiful! 💗
My fathers side is from Kerry. My name is kerry lol.
I called my daughter Eriu after watching this video 😍
my wife’s name is, Inis ! we understand her ancestors are from Mayo area . we know Inis is used concerning Aran Islands. any info is appreciated . bob ( age 88 yrs )
Do you learn this in school? My goodness - I don’t know how you recall all these characters but it’s fascinating.
Hey, when will you make the baby boy one?
So my daughter’s name is Cerridwen Morrigan. I loved hearing all about Morrigan.
Beautiful name! :) 💗
@@WolfeMomma Thank you. When I first named her so many people told me she would grow to hate her name. So not true. She loves it. I wanted something that celebrated my Welsh and Irish heritage and that was unique here in the States.
My Grandparents were from County Roscommon. Do you have historical baby girl names from
This area?
Thank you so much , I'm trying to find a name formy new puppy
what county are you from?
Hi! I am northern Irish and am usually good at pronouncing Irish names but I came across a name recently and can’t quite figure it out so was wondering if you could help 😂 the name is Fáinché. Do you know any history behind this name also? Thanks!
I know a Fainche (spelt without the fadas) and she pronounces it "Faw-in-cha". In some places in Ireland it might be pronounced more like "Fan-kuh". It means "free". I can do more research on it and include it on a future name video if you want :) 💗
I know someone with that name from Mayo - she pronounces in Fan - Cher like chair but with just a hint of the r - not the pop star.
How about the name Kenna ? what is the story behind that name? i know there is different spellings to it
My name is Áine! Glad my dad named me after a badass!
Beautiful name! :) 💗
Just wondering as an irish mum who has given all her kids old Irish names , Im curious about the Irish girls name Kentigerna you mentioned. As far as I'm aware there is no K in the Irish alphabet or language. I think there are only 18 letters in the Irish alphabet with these 8 letters not in it j,k,q v, w, x, y, z.
Yes, you're right, there is no k. The saint's original name was originally Caintigern. I'm not sure why she's known as the anglicised Kentigerna but it's the same with a lot of Irish names (Killian, Kerry etc) and Irish place names (Kildare, Kilkenny). If you wanted to use the traditional Irish name though it would be Caintigern 😊
My name is Mallaidh Aine, I've never heard how its pronounced properly in Irish. It would be interesting to hear the proper pronunciation.
My name 🥺❤️
how do you pounce an fhómhair
You would pronounce it like the English word Oar (used to row a boat). Fh is silent. If it was just Fómhair it would be pronounced like the number four.
Can you pronounce Ealasaid for us? We have heard it El a said - el uh said and Ella say dee. Which would be the correct way to pronounce it? Many thanks! Love your videos btw, love the spellings-pronunciation -history. Priceless!
Can you tell me more about the name Meara? I've seen different websites giving different meanings to the name. What is the true Irish meaning? I have a son Eoin and I'm looking for sibling names. We live in America, so the easier the spelling/pronunciation, the better 😆
I think Meara is derived from 'Mara' which means sea in Ireland. It can mean pool or lake. It's pronounced Mee-ra, but like most Irish names the pronunciation can change depending on where in Ireland you are :) 💗
Meara or Mear could also mean spirited or fiery. We have a folk song called "Mo Ghile Mear" which translates as "My Spirited Lad".
I live in Dromara- Mara is usually associated with the sea.
Morgan spelt differently from the Irish way is my Cousins name
You've not said the name cliona ?
My grand daughter is Beibhinn..
Can you help me? My 3xs great grandmother was born in 1848 in Cork. On the historical records I have, her name is spelled, Cathrine. I'm guessing this is the Americanized spelling? How do you think Cathrine would have been spelled in 1848 Ieland? I'm writing about her and I would like to have her name correct.
Possibly Catrín or Catríona
She covers the name Catherine/Caitríona in her vid Irish Girl Names with Pronunciation and Meaning
Thank you!
Nice baby
I like:Oshin
Eriu
Aine
I have friend coming and her daughter is Iona...how on earth do I pronounce? Aug-12-2023

Brigid

beannachtaí ó Mheicsiceo🇲🇽👏🌹👏🌹👏
Thank you! 💗💗
Now I understand the Blarny stone and the “gift of Irish gab!”
And baby boys names
I thought Cuchulainn was pronounced
Koo-hool n . That’s what I’ve seen in Irish mythology books anyway.
The pronunciation differs a bit with what province you are from.
I love some of these names, but not being Irish, I don’t feel I could ever use them as nobody will have a clue how to pronounce them!
punkymcfunky no one knows how to prouncounce American names either (assuming sorry if it’s wrong...every culture has their own names that are hard to pronounce)
Ssss(forest)
La-a(Ladasha)
Ect
They can be pretty hard to pronounce if you don't know the Irish language.. and even when you do know the Irish language we still get them wrong a lot of the time 🙈😂
Hello friend i am from Bangladesh i am present time liveing in Bangladesh you can managed a work visa
But, even if Morrigan is a 'grim' baby name....that same baby is going to grow into a woman at some point. 😊 n Morrigan is pretty. I like all of em so far tho lol
I love it but as an American the letters and the names confuse me and that feel like they will be mispronounced
