Instantly bought, didn't even listen to the demos. I've got a lot of drums; Ultimate Heavy Drums, all the OKWs, GGD M&M/Invastion, Mixwave, Superior 3 with _almost_ everything. But these kits are just great to load up and get writing with. Virtually no mixing required and I love how easy it is to swap out drums from different libraries. With other drums you have to save kits that only have the shells, or the cymbals, or whatever, then mess around with track stacks/midi sends/whatever. Dwell sounds incredible, just playing with it now. My only request (and I've mentioned this over email) would be a built in velocity curve processor. It's a bit tricky to access softer hits/ghost notes on my keyboard by default. Also Ultimate Heavy Drums incorporated a one shot custom sample loader for the kick and snare. Something like this would be amazing. Either way, awesome work as usual. 100% recommend this kit.

Great to have DW, king of kings in ML Drums. Love the sound! But one question , when do you plan to update the host software? One of the things I miss a lot in ML Drums is not having some slots, to incorporate my own samples, either as reinforcement layers on the snare or kick drum, or to have at least a couple of specific complementary sounds, like slaps, snaps, etc. It would be WONDERFUL to have all this through ML Drums and not have to resort to other channels and individual instruments, all together in the same piano roll and processed through ML Drums... Please think about it, I don't think it would be very difficult to incorporate and it would open infinite possibilities of modulation and customization.

I love the sound of DW, I'll give it a try! As an active user of ML Drums, I reiterate my requests/suggestions, if anyone else is encouraged to comment on this, I think this can also be a good user suggestion guide for the ML Sound Lab team. 1. Import samples to achieve sonic reinforcement (very typical in ALL genres nowadays, especially in the bass drum and snare) and to be able to have some independent control of them. I would love to be able to directly mix a sparkling and shimmering semi-electronic kick drum with the natural sound of ML Drums. 2. Although NOTHING replaces the real tuning (as you do with snares in different tunings) it would be good and necessary to incorporate a pitch tune for each piece. 3. Maintain the modular concept (as before) as much as possible and the cohesion of all pieces 😁
Thanks for asking about it David! We're always listening to requests like this - adding a sample pad is something we've spoken about before, we're still asking around to gauge the support for it, but it could be on the cards in a future update. As for your second request, I think it's unlikely that we'll add fake pitch shifting into the plugin, but it's also not an impossibility. Love you stuff, hopefully this pack has a little more dynamic range in the samples? The luxe and the essentials sound great but you practically have to lower the velocity to 20 or below before they even start to chill out, importing midi from SD or GGD loses all dynamics and turns every hit into a full velocity smack. Gonna buy it right now, because for the most part I still love the sounds and recently updated mixer, keep up the good work!!
We're looking into the possibility of adding velocity curves to cure such issues - it's less an issue with the samples themselves, and more about how different companies place the samples across the velocity ranges. Some companies have their ghost notes at 50 and near silence at 10, other companies have a fair hit at 50 and ghost notes at 10. -Kai

I couldn't find anything on that topic. Sorry if I missed it. How does the humanize function work? I assume it is not just a velocity randomizer. Can you elaborate a bit on what it does to achieve perceived humanization?
We've done a video on the humaniser before, but essentially it shuffles the velocities a little and adjusts the timing, based on the MIDI it's receiving. Super-fast snare rolls will be humanised harder than a single snare hit to mimic more closely how a real drummer would play. It's not a 1:1 substitute for humanising the MIDI yourself, but it's enough to stop you from hearing the super-fake machine-gun effects and get a solid basis down for a demo. -Kai
