I have been playing on Zildjian K Mastersound hats for years but I have to admit I was really surprised by the Zultan caz, sounded amazing both closed and opened
I have a pair of 1974 Paiste 2002 sound edge 15" hats. Of all the different hats I have owned, these are in a class by themselves. I do love all brands but only own Paiste's currently.
Fantastic demo! I listened to this without looking at screen. And to my surprise 15 inch zultran raw was my favorite. And then K zildjian light 15 inch.
My favorite high hats hands down are the 1960s New Beats. Have several high hats, but those old New Beats are the most musically correct if you play classic rock or do studio work.
IMO the best one was the Meinl 14" Byzance Jazz Thin. Nice and soft, with a lot of character. I also liked the Zildjian 15" K Light a lot. Worst one was (a little bit surprisingly) the Paiste 14" 2002 Sound Edge. Way too bright for me.
Yip, agree on the Meinl 14" Byzance Jazz Thin being my favourite. It's than lovely mellowness. Also agree on not liking the Paiste, I find a lot of their not expensive hats have that overly thin toyish character. It's unpleasant. In the budget range, I liked the Zultan hats more than their price led me to expect to, especially on the closed hat sound (Meinl much better open though). The Zultan's are in my budget, so I'll start there. And upgrade to Meinl later. The Zultan Aja 14" is only just over £100, and so quite a good entry level choice; for the price. The Meinl is almost 4x that. The deep 15" Zultans for cheap, and the crisp Zildjian 15" K light at mid-price were good too, but maybe too big / loud for my small Pearl Midtown kit. And the Zildjian costs more than the whole shell set and my kick drum pedal and hat/snare stand together.
Yeah, same, but I will also add the PST7s were pretty good and way better than those particular 2002s in this case. But each to their own.@@andreasbreitwieser1449
It’s interesting to see how each HH brings out different characteristics in the snare. They all sound great but I’m surprised how good tge Zultans sound.
to my ears, Zultan Q and Paiste PST7 are the best well balanced through all frequency range. Good and strong qualities also for HHX Evolution 14" and Masters Dark 15", beautifully low and defined
For my ears and research I find: Meinl Sand Hats, Zildjian K special Dry’s, Paiste Masters Dark hats,/602 essentials; Sabian HH Complex mediums, Istanbul Agop Xist Dry Dark’s 17’s or Turks to fit my taste. To me, those are top shelf. But I’m still in the middle of my research.
Can you please demo - Paiste 15" Formula 602 Modern Essential Hi Hats ( the best of the best in my opinion ). And on the cheaper side - Meinl 14" Pure Alloy Hi Hats - they sound fantastic
I'm a fan of 13" Hats... I use Sabian AAX-plosion Hats. I really like the sharp and crisp, high-pitched hats sound where you can bring in all the little nuances. Great comparison. There are some nice Zultan Hats in there... other than hat, I liked the Zildjian and Sabian Sound most... but not so much the 15" Hats. Heres a crazy idea: How about a cowbell comparison?! And maybe these plastic click-sound thingys?... like they say on Saturday Night Live: I gotta have more cowbell!! 😁
Unfortunately for the wallet, it's really only a contest between the HHX Evo and Zildjian A for me. For the future, it would be awesome if you specified which mics we're hearing. I presume it's a mixture of a close and maybe a room incl. bleed from snare mic? It would be really nice to hear the close mic only!
Please help me, I'm in Vietnam, I'm about to buy a good cymbal set, so I have a question that I hope you can help answer soon: between the paiste 7, paiste 8 and paist 2002 cymbals, which one should I buy? Or forced to buy jildjian? Because although I'm passionate about playing drums, I'm still poor. I saved money for a long time to be able to afford to buy paiste 2002. I don't have enough money left even though I really like zildjian K or sabian. Thank you very much
These all sound great. I'm torn on what to go with. I currently have this setup (istanbul agop 18" om crash, istanbul agop 17" dark ion crash, wuhan koi 20" crash, wuhan koi 22" ride, wuhan koi 14" hats, wuhan koi dark china 20") out of everything im wanting to upgrade to a zildjian big bell ride and swap out my hats but not sure for what yet - I will say that the mix for the kick and snare sounded great!
I guess there are so many choices cause every drummer has their own needs based on style, wants, budget and what ultimately rocks their sox. I would have to base the sound for me personally listening to them in person and not over the internet. I don't know if the microphone was too close or to hot or in the wrong position but they all sounded weird a bit trashy and distorted, imo...rock on people!
I would stack my Bionic 13" Hats against any of those and they would stand up really well. I realise they probably aren't 'best-selling' but that will only be because of a lack of 'famous' endorsers 'pushing' their cymbal choices down our throats.....I am of course referring to that venerable collection of Italian cymbal smiths...UFIP. Their tag-line says it all, 'Ear Created Cymbals'. Cymbals are musical instruments, surely we should be choosing them by 'what' they sound like, not what 'brand' they are?
A weird thing. I was goofing around with my hi hat cymbals. Recently got some sabian b8 hats with a bunch of other drumstuff I bought. Figured I would check them out. Not bad. Best budget hats I have heard, but.... Goofing around, I paired the b8 bottom with my sabian hh top hat... wow. The sound is exactly what I hear and want for a jazz piece I am working up. So surprised at how much I love the sounds... chick, washy, tight... just great all around! So you never know till you try I guess.
I have been playing on Zildjian K Mastersound hats for years but I have to admit I was really surprised by the Zultan caz, sounded amazing both closed and opened
i own the zultans and theyve completely won me over
I'd like to see a comparison between different drum mic sets from the budget friendly to the most expensive.
there are plenty of these comparisons on UA-cam.......all with the same results: go and buy the earthworks......😉
They all sounded pretty decent! But that snare, wow! 🤯
Hey Dalton. It's a Gretsch Drums 14"x05" Brooklyn Chrome/Brass Snare Drum. //Simon
I also think that snare has a great sound. And it appears to be 8 lug! Shocker!
I came to hear the hi hats but all I could hear was the snare drum with a bit of bass drum.
I have a pair of 1974 Paiste 2002 sound edge 15" hats. Of all the different hats I have owned, these are in a class by themselves. I do love all brands but only own Paiste's currently.
Zildjian 15" K Light Hi-Hats for me, that's my new favorite hi hat ever
Fantastic demo! I listened to this without looking at screen. And to my surprise 15 inch zultran raw was my favorite. And then K zildjian light 15 inch.
New Beats always sound good. Always.
I really liked the Zultan 15" RAW. Good bang for your buck i think. The Istanbul Agop was also pretty fun.
I'm always surprised how good the Zultans sound!
Sound Edge has the best sound when wide open. Signatures sound even better imho
My favorite high hats hands down are the 1960s New Beats. Have several high hats, but those old New Beats are the most musically correct if you play classic rock or do studio work.

same taste here! But its just taste......
@@andreasbreitwieser1449 Absolutely! It's awesome that we have so many different options, so there's something for everyone. :)

Zultan 14" Q hi hat sounded really good and is way cheaper than the others.
Esse ZULTAN é SURPREENDENTE ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Those meinl jazz hats😍 Perfectly balanced Imo.
this is a great freakin comparison. nice. thank you
Your welcome! What should we compare next? //Simon
Nice. There is only one Sabian hi hat in the video. It's not like Sabian isn't one of the biggest cymbal brands, right? 😅
Zildjian New Beat, the King ❤❤❤
For my ears and research I find: Meinl Sand Hats, Zildjian K special Dry’s, Paiste Masters Dark hats,/602 essentials; Sabian HH Complex mediums, Istanbul Agop Xist Dry Dark’s 17’s or Turks to fit my taste. To me, those are top shelf. But I’m still in the middle of my research.

awesome demo. love them all.
I never ever usually prefer the New Beats in comparison videos but I did in this one. I thought I’d prefer the HHX’s but I didn’t.

Hi! Let me try to get the closed mic tracks for each hi-hat so you can download it from the video description! //Simon
@@ThomannsDrumBash Thanks Simon, that would be very interesting to hear!
I like the Paiste masters hats the most then the new beats and K’s.
Istanbul Xist dark 13" 😍
Really digging the 15" hats.
I‘m also a big fan of 15“ Hats! What’s your favorite from this video? //Simon
Paiste PS7 sounds really close to jeff porcaro's sound, especially the open hi hat bits
Love it! - I like a high and crispy sound hi-hat. (reminds me of a breakfast cereal 🤣) Any Suggestions?

Sabian HHX Evo & Zildjian A's for my taste...
I’m a Paiste guy but wow, Zultan will hang with anyone.
What are your thoughts on the 14 hhx evolution hi hats.

Nice cymbal setup you have!
@ThomannsDrumBash thanks! Appreciate it :) now just gotta improve my chops and tuning abilities haha. Thank you & stay safe
Zultan Caz 14’ sounds to me like the best standard sounding hi-hat.
I guess there are so many choices cause every drummer has their own needs based on style, wants, budget and what ultimately rocks their sox. hard to find a store with so many selection.......
I really like the sound of the Paiste 2002 sound edge
Byzance is something else
What snare are you using in this video?
There's a post from daltonidaho somewhere above. Thommann responded the snare model to him. 😎👍
I wish Zultan was selling in Brazil
I would stack my Bionic 13" Hats against any of those and they would stand up really well. Forget the hi- hats. I want the snare 😊
Sabian AA 14 should be here
I like 13 inch heavy 2002 hats.
Good video, cool selection.
Where is the k custom dark?
Mostly I like the sound of my old 13“ Z-custom,…back in the days…
I’m looking for some hats for a very quiet gig. Could you recommend something , anybody. ??? Kind regards from the Netherlands. 😊
I‘d check out the Meinl Byzance Jazz Hats //Simon
Other than Turkish cymbals such as Istanbul and Zildjian, they are not even worth talking about. 😎
Snare drum👌🏻

If you're happy with it.. that's important. Nothing like trying to play or practice when the sound is off. It's uninspiring.
Drum heads would be great, so many choices and you can’t return once played and you realise you made a mistake.
You won't go far wrong with coated remo ambassadors on top and clear underneath
unless you're a metaller, then clear emperor's on top.
Meinl is the best
Осталось еще немного подождать и у него вновь будет нормальная мужская прическа на голове.
Los Zultan me gustan,,,sin embargo esos HHX son deliciosos también.
that snare has no sound it sounds like an electric drum
Gonzalez Ronald Lopez Donald Jackson Linda
I honestly don't like what they did with those new new Beats I have a pair from 2003 e they sound much better
