When I Bought the Joshua Tree Cabin it needed a lot of work, and in previous episodes of the series I've turned this living room into a blank canvas for this makeover / renovation on a budget! I'm updating the fireplace and whitewashing the stone, adding a new mantel / tv, setting up the vinyl corner, building a sofa, coffee table, making custom curtains with my mom and splurging on a massage chair!

Hi, My name is Mike Montgomery and I'm a MAKER; a designer, builder, and full-time content creator. Accessibility is my focus with Modern Builds, not simply accessibility of designs, but accessibility in materials, information, and projects themselves. I had doubts about the painted fireplace, but after it soaked in and cured I think it looks incredible and almost like it's the natural stone color! Your imagination on this build is just fabulous!

Loved the transformation, wasn't too keen on the mirror but the plants below it enhanced it more to my liking. Overall a very comfy looking space. Your canvas paintings and the cushions look great together.

I freaking love the space. Who would have thought doing the angle on the hearth stone and whitewashing it could modernize it so much? And the curtains your Mom did look great! Removing the carpeting and the ceiling texture did increase the ceiling height. A little bit.

I like the sectional, but I do think you should get cushions specifically made for it using foam. I think it will make look more streamlined

This entire transformation was awesome. I love that it’s simple but fun and has color and is not cluttered. It was so cool that your mom was able to help and also create curtains that fit perfect in the space.

I adore that Monstera table. Good job over all. You might want to rethink covering the thermostat since it uses the ambient air temp to cycle your furnace. If it’s blocked it might not be able to do that efficiently.

Add curtains that touch the floor, that is more modern. And the carpet is the perfect size, it’s supposed to be large since your couch is big, just don’t hide it, let it be closer to the record player.
