Just thinking about it , wouldn’t help with that pesky back nut 🤷♂️ had no issues at the front easy .. I could have thrown whole thing in in one piece to make it easier .. no fun tho..
Alot of engineers would just turn round and say that a boiler of that age with the price of the parts, the labour involved was beyond economic repair and recommended a new one, so fair play for fixing it 😀
I’ve been a gas engineer since joining British Gas in 1982, left there in 2003, and have been self employed since. Thanks for your videos, it’s so refreshing and inspiring to witness your enthusiasm and expertise.I must admit you’ve taught me a few things and helpful tips. Every days a school day in our trade, I’m the first to admit in this throw away world that we all get drawn into. Keep it up Pal. 10/10.
Hats off to you mate.. I’m pleased that you get something out of my vids... it was never my intention to do anything special just try my best. I learn something about you guys and myself when someone leaves me a Kind well written message. So thank you 🙏 blessed.
No paste police here. I’d rather have a bit of paste on than have a bloody weeping joint. I use jet blue plus on as many joints as I deem necessary. Another good job done. Hope you had a great Christmas and all the best for hopefully a better year for all of us.
I enjoyed the video. Worked on lots of CDi classics. Never had to change the main heat though. I would think it’d be a bigger job on the combi, but maybe not?My last job before the Xmas break was a leaking return unit on a Worcester 28i like the one where the tenants ran a tap/shower and flooded u out. Keep up the good work.
I had this same problem on my 42CDi combi, managed to replace the heat exchanger like you. Amazed how the split on the side is in the same place as mine. Must be a design fault where the wall casing lacks strength in this area.

Yours looks very light weight. Is it? I can’t find one online anywhere but would be great to have something less weighty. Keep up the good work!

The part was nearly £500 How much was labour £300?? £800 boiler repair. Great just before xmas! But you did do a wonderful job. Great quality work as always from Dr Pipe.
Have thought about that.. on inspection .. will post a vid... the water is actually perforated thru the wall so it’s gonna come thru all along that seam .
It’s at the back of the olive less chance to block the pipe.. but mostly leak will generally come from there as last place of compression.. was taught that by a commercial guy 30plus years... stuck with it... It’s Never failed but the pastes have changed 😀
