  • Did you know that the paternity of Swedish industry is attributed to the Walloons ? Anders Herou , President of the society of Swedish Walloons and ambassador of the brand Wallonia.be testifies .
Renowned for their expertise in the field of steel, a thousand Walloons emigrated with their families in Sweden in the 17th century to work in the forges of Upland . These Wallooners , Walloons in Sweden , are still the pride of their hundreds of thousands of descendants.

My father Ake Gille ( 1919 - 2004 ) was president of the Waloon organization of Sweden. He received a prestigious medal from the king of Belgium . He sponsored and lead my trips to the Walloon areas of Belgium and the 1970’s . I have saved all the newspaper clippings . Thank you for this UA-cam presentation

Finn with Walloon ancestry here :) they came to northern Sweden in the 1700s and their descendants eventually moved to Finland in the 1900s.

That explains one of my genetic groups. I have partial Belgian heritage, both Flemish and Walloon and I have Sweden show up as a location during the 1800s

My Great Grandfather immigrated to Australia in the 1880s and was from the Walloon family Hybinette .

I’ve always wondered why I don’t “look Swedish and Finnish” and I recently found out from my mum that it’s because we have Walloon ancestry, which is very prominent on me, my mother and grandfather. I don’t know much about my Walloon ancestry (like how much or when my ancestors came to Sweden), but here I am making research so I can know more about my Walloon ancestry!

Shhh... I can't tell you here that's too private lol... no just kidding, it's darker brown hair, dark green eyes, bigger hands in relation to size. It's on my mothers side... A lot of people have thought that I'm a dark haired russian hehe... but I'm a Swede just with this spice added to my mixup :)

@@Almansur8 You're welcome hehe :) They have pale/fair skin and almost black hair, dark eyes (brown or green mostly). They came to Sweden in the 16th/17th century as blacksmiths and craftsmen with great knowledge to help build up the industry and the military. Many left Sweden later on, but a few remained here.
      From wiki.
Five to ten thousand Walloons emigrated to Sweden, mainly working in the steel industry.
