Putin seems to have forgotten that Russia was part of the NATO peacekeeping force in Bosnia/Former Republics of Yugoslavia. in 1995-1997. Putin's memory must be fading from old age, and limited storage capacity.
I remember how NATO bombed Montenegro '99. I was a kid back then. Still wake up screaming sometimes. How would thought Russia will start doing the same to Ukraine. Great powers are all the same.
I love how Putin, just like current Serbian gov. skips the part what THEY did BEFORE NATO bombed them in 1995. That war started in late 1990, what did Serbia and Montenegro (back then part of Yugoslavia) did during those 5 years ? Yeah, so easy to skip the part Serbia (just like Russia today) invaded neighboring countries and tried to commit genocide.
Yeah what the hell, the first thing I'd ask is Why won't Israel just allow Palestinians to strike out at Jews and Israel and do nothing in return? I mean every time Palestine strikes out at Israel, Israel strikes back and takes more territory from the Palestinians. I'd ask why Israel doesn't just walk away and surrender everything to the Palestinians and convert to Islam. I'd love to see their reaction. Wouldn't you? Or .... Are we seeing it now? Hummmmm.....

That's not the first time he says publicly or publicise things which would have other journalists arrested or worse. Other Western presses such as Deutsche Welle were banned from Russia for much less.
It's mutually beneficial. The BBC rightfully gets to hold a dictator to account and get clout for doing so. And the dictator gets to have a whine about globalism and the failure of the west etc. Putin knows certain people in the west will watch this and eat up every word he says
The sales pitch is the west kicked out RT, but we allow the BBC we must be the free country. Of course it doesn’t really stand up as the head of RT is on Russia 1 every other night uncritically supporting the war without a hesitant breath. RT is not a real journalistic organisation in any sense.
tbf he's not wrong about purchasing power, but it's specifically about GDP (PPP) which takes into account the fact that prices are lower in Russia, but in nominal GDP (i.e the number simply when converted to Dollars), Russia is 11th. So kind of misleading and not the most relevant when talking about international trade for example.
But it is the most relevant when talking about standard of living which I think that was his aim since he was asked if he feels he's taken good care of Russia. By that measure it's undeniable it's been a huge positive during his reign compared to the beginning
@andre60937 except the number is ridiculous. It would put russia in line with western European countries in terms of gdp per capita. It would give russia a larger economy than japan. There is no way in hell that a reasonable person sees how Russian outside of Moscow or pensioners in siberia live and thinks russia is on par with western Europe and Japan. The non-ppp gdp figure is much closer to the truth than the ppp adjusted figure
All fine and dandy until the war ends and Russia has to stop its war time economy. In addition, absolute zero investment from other countries and their cash reserve is completely depleted. This economy is going to be worse than what they experienced in the 1990s. It's a disaster that is unavoidable at this point. Also, China can't save them.

Lol, what is the value of dollar to one country who can not use dollar for international trade. Dollar is useless in current times for Russia. They have their own oil, Gas, Resources , so in that case they do not need dollar actually. You should look at their Gold reserve official data+ unofficial data + Their chinese Yen reserve.

Putin seems to have forgotten that Russia was part of the NATO peacekeeping force in Bosnia/Former Republics of Yugoslavia. in 1995-1997. Putin's memory must be fading from old age, and limited storage capacity.
That bit of history has been totally re-spin by russia
I remember how NATO bombed Montenegro '99. I was a kid back then. Still wake up screaming sometimes. How would thought Russia will start doing the same to Ukraine. Great powers are all the same.
yet Yeltsin was mad about bombing Yugoslavia. what you've mentioned doesn't add anything to the whole picture.
you are a joke
I love how Putin, just like current Serbian gov. skips the part what THEY did BEFORE NATO bombed them in 1995. That war started in late 1990, what did Serbia and Montenegro (back then part of Yugoslavia) did during those 5 years ?
Yeah, so easy to skip the part Serbia (just like Russia today) invaded neighboring countries and tried to commit genocide.
If only the BBC could find the courage to hold Israel to account.
I doubt if Israel was there.
@mesel7105 deliberately missing the point possibly.

Exactly, right? The comments on this video are so amusing. Oh, he asked Putin a hard question? Maybe him asking an EU leader about Nord Stream would be a hard question as well. But he won't do that, it'd be bad for his career to say the least.

PUTIN CRITICIZING DRUNKIN RUSSIAN ..... NOW THAT IS JUST PRECIOUS !!!!!!
What a fantastic and brave question and I've never seen anything like it. Full credit to this very brave journalist.
I liked NBC reporter who actually said Putin is a loser and Putin got lost for a few minutes started coughing and very irritated and even Putin`s audience became silent at that moment. That was awkward.
The image contains text in Cyrillic script that reads "ВЛАДИВОСТОК" (Vladivostok), referring to the city in Russia
But Why?
I keep asking in comments but @bbc never answers; what did you do to shield Rosenberg? What kind of agreement you have in Russia? That's not the first time he says publicly or publicise things which would have other journalists arrested or worse. Other Western presses such as Deutsche Welle were banned from Russia for much less.
Maybe it was an agreement that the BBC asks the questions and then publishes the answer in full…? Think that’s journalism.
I’m all for it!
Idk probably to pretend to show the public that Russia is more free than it is and get some content couse statemedia questions are boring asf
It's mutually beneficial. The BBC rightfully gets to hold a dictator to account and get clout for doing so. And the dictator gets to have a whine about globalism and the failure of the west etc. Putin knows certain people in the west will watch this and eat up every word he says
The Kremlin wants to give itself credibility, not booting the BBC out is one way to do that.
@@andre60937 When looking at other statistics, 36% have no access to gas and 20% have no indoor plumbing. So I wouldn't be too confident on their standard of living.

You don't understand what GDP in PPP is.
Finland has a GDP of ~$53,000 USD. That results in ~$38,000 after income tax, and only ~$29,000 in real money after sales tax is factored in.
A USD in Russia goes ~2.8x further than the same USD spent in the US. Russia's GDP per capita is ~$14,000 ... x2.8 = ~$39,000.
Putin couldn't answer a straight question from the journalist. "Are you taken care of Russia"

In Russia, 20,000 villages are abandoned and another 30,000 have 10 or fewer inhabitants.
