    The big difference here is simply heat activated carpet tape and the tool to heat it.
    Thanks for the demonstration to show the quality of heat activated tape versus the cheap double sided tape.

    Your repair looks the best of all the diy repair jobs I have seen on UA-cam.

    Is it possible to use an everyday normal iron with a sheet over the carpet?

    Thanks for the heads up. I am facing doing repairs on new carpet that has spilled wood stain on it. I bought some of this dyi backing tape. Now I'm going to get the heat setting tape. I wish you had shown alternative heat setting methods.

      Literally had the same reason for watching this video, following this video works perfectly. And I had an entire damn pint of stain spilled!

      For context it sort of pilled up, with only a quarter sized dollop of stain on top. The rest that was underneath, had turned into a large pile. Made a weird and awful mound in the carpet, after yanking the carpet up to get it unstuck from the floor, I then cut and proceeded with repair.
      Easy fix

    Can you use the iron to get a better stick with the diy repair tape?

    I think both of them are DIY, you just need to have the best tools

    thanks for making this video... If I'm seaming a carpet with this double sided tape do i stick the carpet to the underlay?.. i notice you didn't take the back off your tape in the video...thanks again

      @justsaygold  10 місяців тому +2

      You can if you want to, I didn't because if it touches the underlay it's hard to get it unstuck and will usually tear the underlay.

    If you put tacks or staples in the diy, it wouldn't come loose either

    The DIY method is definitely a mess, they should just forget it and hire someone to do it right
