Reminds me of Martyr and much like that band they have a rock solid blend of death metal, thrash, jazz and prog. Can't believe I slept on this for so long.
Highlights: - The change in octave during that mind-bending riff in the title track - the face meltingness of 'That which consumes all things' - the way David screams "SOOOOOORRRCCEERRYY" is one of the most metal things I've ever heard
John Barker I really love brett’s bass in this album. He really shines a lot. I like how after the second chorus in Vanitas, during that bridge or whatever they’re still doing similar chords to the chorus, and Brett is just playing the same root note while dave and dan’s chords progress, I think that gives the song really good foundation
this is, imo, the best metal album to come out in a long time. there are times where the composition and chord selection reminds of the best moments of opeth or cynic, the attentiveness to melodic phrasing reminds of at the gates or in flames, the guitar leads remind of marty friedman's work on "rust in peace", and yet it still maintains that thrashing, pummeling old school death metal heaviness like morbid angel or obituary... a shining example of a new school band aggregating all of the best bits of the old school and applying them to create really great, memorable songs... much like what bands like gojira, mastodon, and lamb of god have done in their own way for the past 10-15 years

Nice! On Friday the 28th I saw the Obscura tour with Beyond Creation, Archspire, Inferi and Exist at the Alrosa Villa. It was absolutely amazing. Archspire was so tight and actually really funny. He has some awesome stage banter.
Saw them last night in Kent, Ohio with Exhumed, Rivers of Nihil, and Yautja. Each band set the bar higher and higher, and then Revocation came on and killed it. Definitely one of the best, most brutal and musical metal bands on the planet right now. And those guitar solos. Don't even get me started.
Crippling Niles saw them when they joined tours with Abigail Williams, and it was kind of laughable how much better their lineup was than the other tour. Of course, when Revo actually took to the stage they made clowns out of everyone
The tiny speakers in my laptop have prolapsed all over my knees. Never has such a mess been made upon my person since mother consumed the out of date pickled eggs.

Been waiting for this so long, I loved their last album, and what I like most of this band is how well they create a different kind of atmosphere in every single record, despite being truthful to their sound. amazing solos btw, Dave is so underrated in the guitar community is a real shame
Dave gets a decent amount of recognition I’d say. He was rated the #1 metal guitarist on Metal Sucks some years back along with the Guitar World endorsement. Take those as glowing endorsements or not.
