The 4-cloved leaf as a Basque sign is called "Lauburu" (4 heads) which represents "earth, wind, water and fire". It is a typical Basque symbol which many Basques use as a necklace. You might also see "eguzkilore" or sunflower which is adorned on many houses to protect from evil spirits.
I walked the Baztan towards the end of July this year. I absolutely loved it. And I started walking from the beach west of Bayonne after a lovely swim!
Thank you for your beautiful videos. We're leaving to begin our Camino in one week. Your attitude helps boost our confidence. We are older, and this is our first Camino.

Hello Nadine. Beautiful Camino… I walked one year ago and I was in love with northern Navarra. Do you know what is GR11 route? I’m sure you do. I hope one day to recieve your videos with your experiences there. Buen Camino!
Hi Nadine, thx for posting this...a couple of things, can I get my credencial in Bayonne?(I'm assuming cathedral) and I'm thinking of Baztan to start, Frances to Leon or Astorga, then bussing it to the Sanabres... I'm sort of hoping this will offer up a bit of everything...A relatively peaceful start, the social aspect and Meseta of the Frances, and avoiding the mayhem from Sarria into Santiago... It looks like you've done the lot and would welcome your view.. Thx, SJ
Yes, you should be able to get a credential in the cathedral- I’ve read that you can, though I already had one so didn’t have to pick it up at the start. I love your plan: a quiet start on the Baztan, the camaraderie of the Francés, and a less crowded finish. The Sanabres was great, but if you want to avoid taking a bus you could stay on the Francés until Ponferrada and then veer off onto the Camino de Invierno, which is another really great option! A beautiful route, enough albergues, and it’s becoming more popular in the last few years (which just means that you might see a handful of pilgrims, rather than none). Good luck with your planning!
I'm so glad I asked the question, that's an option I will certainly look into and tbh the thought of jumping on a bus and breaking stride didn't sit right.... Plus I get to do the descent to Molinaseca again, the Cruz de Ferro and visit the little family cafe in Ponferrada where I had the best coffee and pan de chocolate on the whole Frances😊... Thanks for the reply and happy walking 🙏
You seem to have a nice attitude and it's enjoyable to watch your experience because of it. May your pilgrimage be all you hope it can be, and perhaps a bit more even. :)
Wonderful start to a new camino. Have to admit my anxiety crept in when you turned onto the dirt path (I personally would have to keep reminding myself that it is safe).
Hi Nadine, thanks for sharing the videos about camino. Did you use iphone or camera to take these videos? Just wondering. and which video editor did you use? Thank you for sharing :)
You’re welcome, I have a lot of fun making these videos! I use my iPhone for photos and video, and then iMovie to edit. It’s all very basic, nothing fancy!
Me encantan tus vídeos,Nadine😊. Una pregunta....porque siempre vuelves a España? Supongo que te interesarán también otros países....es porque te gusta mucho?😊
Hi, another great video. Next week I am restarting my camino from St Quentin north east France. Started from Brussels, but had to stop for five weeks after stupidly injuring my leg jumping down from a gate wearing a too heavy pack. So now I have reduced things down to 8.5Kg excluding food and water. Maybe could cut more by leaving my umbrella behind, but people say that it’s good to take for shade and short showers. Will keep going till mid November, hopefully that will take me into Spain, but probably will not finish. Originally planned to do the Norte, but in November & October maybe the Francaise will be better. But if I need to come again to complete things next year, I will want to avoid the crowds- maybe March? You mentioned a heavy pack, was that many kg’s?
This sounds like a great Camino!! (and now I will be extra careful to not jump down from a gate while wearing a pack- ouch! I’m so sorry that happened!) My pack was maybe 8 kilos? I don’t weigh it anymore, but it felt heavy (for me!)
You have a wonderful attitude and adventurous spirit. Buen Camino!
You take the challenges of your first day with good spirits. Thanks for sharing.
It’s always so fun to start a new walk, even if my pack WAS feeling heavy!

Thank you! I have been wondering about that many caminos!

Yes, actually I met a young woman hiking the GR11 when I was walking this route! I have definitely added it to my list :)
Great scenery. Looking forward to the whole adventure. Much thanks.
This was such a pretty Camino :)
finally back❤❤❤
Youre just awesome, Soul Sister. We are planning our Camino. Bless you ♥️🙏💪 P.s Love the Basque country and cuisine.
The Basque Country is amazing! I love it too 😊
Thanks for this video. My husband and I are walking the Camino Baztan next month so will enjoy seeing the rest of your Baztan videos 😊
I think you’ll enjoy it so much! Somewhat challenging ( a couple of big-ish climbs) but I just took it slow and it was all fine! I really loved it!

It was really a great start! And I thought this Camino (and Caminos in general) was very safe 😊

Great video. Nice to see that everyone has to work out the kinks on day 1. Is that the first library you have seen on a Camino anywhere?
I think it IS the first library I’ve seen on a Camino!
Nadine, how heavy is your pack? How far and where are you going?
"Nadine, is that you?". CB
Nadine, what size ( litres ) is your Deuter?
How heavy is your heavy? ( for your pack!)
Mines 25 pounds, but I have camera gear. They say 10% of your body weight. I'm over.....lol
Hmm I don’t weigh my pack anymore, but maybe 18 or 20 pounds, if I include all the extra food I carried for this Camino?
Hi
Great mood. Are you recording de tracks?. Thanks. Buen Camino.
No, I don’t record tracks while I walk. But maybe someone else has!
