    everytime i go to wash my shirt after exposure all of the color just completely washes out. I use 100% coton shirts and i really can't figure out why this is happening. do you know why this is?

      Your laundry detergent probably contains phosphates. You need to use a detergent that does not contain them.

      thanks, that is great to know. T-shirt printing techniques should hold its color and design otherwise all will be less hobby or craft and why bother if the image washes out.

      Any alkaline water will bleach it entirely. Only rinse it in a mildly acidic solution made with citric acid. Test tap water for pH for all solutions you make up. I have to use distilled water.

      before expose it to the sun, you need to completely dry your shirt thats been applied by cyanotype liquid in the dark.

    I've wanted one of these for years now I think I might finally get one. Are you still using yours and have any advice? What are the blue screen / filter and the other filter for? Have you tried printing on cloth like a cotton T shirt?
    There is one version the literally called the B5 that is bigger than the B6 size all the other ones are.
    Normal riso gocco size B6 - 4.9x6.9 inches.
    The B5 that prints in B5 is 6.9x9.8 inches so if it does print on shirts like a normal silk screen it might be worth it to pay the extra hundred for the b5. But I doubt the quality on clothes would be that great? I mostly want it for art reasons and covers anyways.
    Do you regret getting this and did you find a better alternative or is it worth the $100 for a used set up with most the pieces at least enough to get started. I heard the screens only last about a day

      it is a compressor. You could get that at home depot, Lowes, or a especialty store where they sell compressors. But I think you can just use a spray bottle, I once had a bottle that you pump and use in your garden to kill weeds.. From the video you can see as long as the fabric is sprayed with the 2 chemicals.

    How do you fixate the design onto the fabric so it stays after washing?

      I use Solarfast Wash.
      Unfortunately, this is outrageously expensive and of course it doesn't say what's in it.
      The annoying thing is that blue prints don't hold up well if you wash them with soaps that contain bleach, phosphates or sodium (e.g. most detergents). So make them to never wash them (yuck!)

      It is not possible to wash a canotype on fabric normally with detergent.
      Only with water.
      So if the shirt is all sweaty you will have to freshen it up in another way.

    • @arieharyana

      hydrogen peroxide, i guess

    • @nervouslife
      @nervouslife 3 місяці тому +1

      Hydrogen peroxide.
      But it does not change the cyanotype except that it becomes as blue in the wet state as it looks without hydrogen peroxide in the dried state.
      It doesn't get darker after drying just because you use hydrogen peroxide.
      I save myself that in the meantime.

    Hi, I tried to do It myself with JACQUARD products. I followed all the instructions and It looks good, then I washed the tshirts delicately in the washing machine and the all faded and turned into a pale sepia 😱 can anyone tell me how to avoid It? Thanx

      Do you have more information?
      Have you used detergent? Doesn't work.
      Did you wash too hot? Over 20 degrees is too much.
      Hand washing with lukewarm, preferably cold water is best.
      The annoying thing is that blue prints don't hold up well if you wash them with soaps that contain bleach, phosphates or sodium (e.g. most detergents). So make them to never wash them (yuck!)

      print 'em with a printer. Inverse every image you want and print on a transparent film

    • @georginacalder6798
      @georginacalder6798 4 місяці тому

      Reduce image to balcl and white in any image editing app (photoshop etc) and then invert to make it negative (there might be a "negative filter" option) then print it on the transparency (acetate paper) and yeah you got it
