The bit from 5:34 and 6:38 and 8:41 is just like what I was faced with on my second day ever on ski's at the Nevis Ranger in Scotland, on a long weekend holiday with the Warrington Ski Club when I was in my mid to late 20's. On the first day of the long weekend holiday I was struggling getting to grips with turns and traversing on the nursery slope and the easiest green runs, but the next day our 'instructor' took my group of complete beginners to the top of Nid Wall, a V shaped gully with steeper sides then on the video, and she then skied to the bottom and we had to follow her down it had bigger moguls then shown here, and it was icy as well. A truly awful morning, after about 20 minutes of stopping and starting and after losing control and falling more times then I care to remember I got about two thirds down it. I badly bruised both my hips, got the wind knocked out of me more then once, and strained several muscles, and I was shattered, the slope got steeper and it became so scary, after a final heavy fall, I nearly dislocated my left shoulder, by then I'd had enough of skiing, so I took the ski's off and walked down the rest of the run, and for the rest of the weekend I was just mentally counting down the hours till I could go home, and I swore I'd never try skiing again, and 40 years later I still haven't - I'm now 66. If her objective was to put me off skiing for life, she 100% succeeded. Skiing, you are welcome to it. I now do my skiing watching skiing videos on You Tube.
Hi Puzzoozoo, it's a shame you went through that experience, which put you off skiing. I sometimes get myself in scary situations, ski defensively but have to say, learn from the experience and hope to do it much better and more confidently the next time. It's all part of skiing but in your case, seems the instructor went too far. If you're ever up for it again, just get on some green runs and enjoy yourself, skiing can be fun...
@@ChasingSnow I might IF I ever do so again, but I'm now getting old, and my body has had 40 years of wear and tear since then, so I'd be to scared of seriously injuring myself. IF in your skiing travels you ever get to ski on the Nevis Range, go to the top of Nid Wall, and look down that V gully, and you'd see what I had to face as a near complete beginner. Peace.
@@ChasingSnow I'll keep an eye open for it, as all I have of the gully is a 40 year memory. Since I posted the original comment, incredible as it seems, I've found out that people my age - 66- & generation have taken up skiing, as there are actually companies that cater for mature beginner skiers. So, I'll have to do some research, and maybe take it up again in 2024/5. January is supposed to be the sweet spot for going skiing. Not sure where to go thou, as I've only ever been to the Nevis Range. But we-shall-see. Peace.
Hey why are some parts of the piste in terrible condition (4:10) was it late in the day or? Btw great videos I am going there in January so this helps a lot for orientation etc
It was hard work, the reason I stopped a few times. With the fresh snow overnight, it wasn't long before the morning skiers messed it up. But that's what I like about skiing, it's a lifetime of learning and practice so we learn to ski all conditions...

There was snow overnight so it was chopped up and that's how the condition ended up. Those parts that were re-groomed were fine...
Cristaux was like that on the day I skied but not sure about other days...
It definetly looks way too easy when you ride a black piste. Remember when I was on the same piste and it was horrible for me 🤣
