😮😮😮It s really sad that Americans cut off the season, leaving the Ski lifts just 4 months in a year. Most of restaurants will be CLOSED, so.... The resort will live only 4 months instead of one year. But it s ok.... Billionaires can come in extra season and Shop at Rue du Prado. Bwahahaha
OK, I didn't know that... I suppose it's all business for them...
You always have the best videos. I'm an intermediate skier just about to embark on my third season - watching your videos have allowed me to mentally prepare ahead of my trip. Thank you. You've really helped me.
Thank you so much for this message and I'm really glad you are making good use of my videos :-)
Thanks for the upload ! How do you find this shortcut compared to the regular route to go to Siviez? It looks like a bit too much of uphill...
I liked it... as it was late season, the snow was soft and slow, but I think it would be much better earlier..
For such an off-the-beaten-track skiing, is it best to use carving skis or all mountain ski's? I'm asking for when I buy my second set when I've out grown my first ski's I'll hopefully be experienced enough to be able ski that type of run, and may buy all mountain skis instead of more advanced carving skis. As for the butt lift comment, damn, that is a long button lift.
To be honest, I don't think it matters too much for this type of terrain... I think all mountain skis help most with powder as they tend to be wider...
@@ChasingSnow Right, thanks for the heads up, it'll be just a choice then of which carving ski brand I like from main stream to expensive like Stockli, which I'll demo in Val desire when I'm ready.
Yes, start with carving skis and see where it leads... I have two pairs of all mountain which are my favourites... one 183cm and the other 189cm, which looks long on paper but with the rockers, the actual surface that touches the snow is comparable to much shorter skis... however the rockers also help in powder...
worst ski area, so many butt lifts
For 4 Vallées, it's the area that needs an upgrade...
Pocetak top, posle uzas 😄 Inace jel moze da se izadje na krcmar tim putem samo desno?
@@filipamanovic9515 da, može...
I remember skiing with my girls when we were all younger. Thank you for sharing the moment!
Glad it brought back some memories :-)
Which skiresorts are you planning to visit?
There are a lot but the theme this season is the big ones...
Visibility wise it was like that at Les Deux Alpes when I had my accident, only it was white mist, and there were icy patches on the lower bit of the Diablo Blue run.
Those conditions are not ideal, hopefully you'll get better weather next time...fresh snow makes a difference...
@@ChasingSnow Yeah, 🤞. FWIW the instructor 'Nick' in my 1 to 1 last Friday after following me down the main slope a few times was happy with my balance ect on pizza turns down the main slope, no loss of control, slow but steady pace, and reasonably comfortable turns. Plus IF in your travels you ever get to Les Deux Alpes, on the button lift on Diable, three quarters up if you look to your right, that is where I fell twice.
Just think of the poor people on ski patrol. They don't have the option of giving up and going home. Hope the next day wa better for you.
Poor ski patrol ;-) yes, the following day was better though I was at Sölden... 😀
FANTASTIC VIDEO
Glad you enjoyed it, cheers!
@ChasingSnow I went in 2015 it was amazing. I have just booked in December 14th to the 23rd 2024 bellacote la plagne I pray it snows I'm taking my son.
For large resorts like that, you should be fine for snow cover... enjoy 😉
@@ChasingSnow really appreciate your reply dude 😎
OMG 😬 thats poor conditions…
Yeah, I think my visibility was worse than the camera...
11th of April, slow snow can really throw you off your game! You have to take it a bit slower sometimes to avoid getting launched. The new Léchère/Cases connection can be a life saver. I used to start in Les Crosets, because of its accessibility by car and parking underneath the lifts. But the Mossettes lift back, being much more exposed, often shuts down in high-wind situations and then you'd have really long detour on your hands getting back to CH! Twice, I almost got stuck in F. Fortunately, that has been fixed now.
Thanks for that Bart... I'm heading your way and should be there in a couple of days... I'll send you a message on WhatsApp...
По звуку лыж похоже что снег немного мокрый
It was, soft spring snow...
U ever planning to go to val Cenis? It’s pretty underrated tbf. Especially the part above termignon. It feels like ur the only one on the world so calm is it there
I'm not really familiar with this resort... I'd have to look into it...
no worries, only do it if u want to :)
Wow, maybe it will get better as it gets colder bringing more snow..?
This was from the end of last season... so snow was soft...
is this from today or last season?
End of last season, the date is in the description...
As I won't be going to Switzerland in the season after this one, all-being-well I'll stick to Austria and France resorts before I go further afield, and going by the pieste map Avoriaz has a bit of everything from beginners and up.
I think you'll enjoy Avoriaz...you could even ski into Switzerland from there...
Those snowy/flat light/white out days are tiring mentally and pysichally for me, I'm basically feeling my way down on my edges and the skiis run much slower. The first time we went to Tignes around 15 years ago it was white out conditions for 6 days. On our final day the clouds parted and you could see for miles. LOL we were so lost in the massive open view we now had on the slopes as we had been skiing from piste edge marker to piste edge marker in the damp gloom for days.
That's the way it used to be for me also, I would book accommodation, buy the pass and ski whatever conditions I got... so there were many white out days, which made it difficult if the resort was new to me, as it would be difficult to know where I was... but now I rarely ski on days like that... and in this case, just decided to call it a day... the wet snow was sticking to my visor so visibility was really bad... Well, I'm glad you ended up getting at least one nice day... having 6 days of poor visibility is pretty bad...
@@ChasingSnow if there’s no sun I don’t ski. Period
That's normally my rule, especially as I'm filming, but this day was an exception...
Similar experience on Hintertux a year ago or so, white sky and snowing.. could only guess where the horizon might be! Thankfully I'm only a tank of fuel and a ski pass drive away these days, when the weather app says good to go I'm off!
@@withoutwroeirsbest way to get the most :-)
Lost both my legs go skiing
Wow! How?
Yeah fuck off, thats expensive
Ask Schumacher how amazing skiing is.
Schumacher aside, bless him...many people die skiing each year...that in itself shows what some people are willing to risk doing this exhilarating sport...but we are talking at the extreme level...
Yeah pretty much. It’s too sad to think about sometimes
I think the higher resorts will be fine... the lower ones have already started closing...
Skiing is amazing! :-)
It really is! Cheers!
Cooles Video! Frage: Ist die Geschwindigkeits-/Höhenangabe (unten rechts) bei der GoPro Kamera integriert oder ist das eine separate Software? Danke!
I use Virb Edit for that...
Thanks for the footage. I went there in 2006, glad to see it all looks the same
Cheers! Yeah, not much has changed...
Great video! When did you record it?
Cheers! 19 Dec 2023... it's in the description :-)
@@ChasingSnow thanks a lot! Obviously did not read the description 🤦♂️
I'm there 15 December. 4th time La Plagne. Love this area. 🙂
Enjoy... I'm planning to go back also... :-)
Great vid do you know if the bars / apres will still be busy in first few weeks of January ??
Yes, they should be busy then...a lot of people go skiing in January...
@ thank you 👍🏻
That missing black piste looks dope ! I hope they make it official one day. Did you ever try the itinerary to Siviez that is visible at 5:17 ? I wonder how it is... all those unofficial pistes could make you avoid the flat parts, it would really be interesting to have them as official paths
Yes, I do that itinerary next, about three videos away... another one that's not on the map... stay tuned :-)
Wenn is there the best season and snow?
It really depends on the season but late January is normally good... personally, I like March...
So many T-bars it’s insane jeez. They may upgrade the lifts on that side of 4 vallees. Of what I know is that the lifts in the rest of the area are alright
Yes, this side definitely needs an upgrade...
That tumble reminded me of when I was following some good distance behind a piste basher going down a long wide blue in Les Arcs the day after a couple of days of fresh snowfall. It was a piste that was ungroomed apart from the fresh trail being left by the basher which I was using I was just gliding along enjoying the view suddenly both tips dug in and boom straight over the front onto my back lol. I wasn't hurt or winded, but my pride was dented when a generous skier helped recover my skis and suggested I take the sticky sales label off the base of my new skis hahaa. DOH!
Haha, now that's funny... though I would say it's a similar experience... normally when I hit a patch of slow slow snow... both skis suddenly stop and I tend to go head first... in this case, the left one did and I went into a spin...
😂
I've noticed on the pieste maps of the Swiss resorts Crystal and Ingrams go to the predominate run colour is red, if it's getting late, and you are heading back, and there is no blue run to the resort just red, and you are not used to red, at best it'll be a struggle, and at worse you'd be screwed. Another reason why I'll for now be giving Swiss resorts a miss.
Exactly, in that case, most beginners take the lift back... but in some cases, not even that is possible. That's why I would suggest staying to beginner friendly resorts at the beginning... you wouldn't take advantage of what the larger resorts offer but you would still pay for it...
When was it ?
It's in the descriptions - 2nd April 2024
91 км/ч отличная скорость
Yes, I was surprised when I saw that as the snow was slow...
Absolutely horrible so early in the season 😢
This was captured on March 7 2023... I am hoping this will be a good season though...
But why do you ski like that haha
Ski like what? How should I be skiing?
@ looks like you’re just going straight downhill haha
@@maximilianblank this channel really isn't about my skiing, as you can't even see me... it's more about the resorts... I don't ski in straight line, I do go from side to side but the image stabilisation takes some of it out... however, I prefer that so the video shows a smoother run...
@ okai i understand 👍
@@maximilianblank Cheers!
zum glück war es das saisonsende 23/24
It was 7th March 2023, the full video is linked...
If Switzerland is to expensive for next season, as probably only Sass Fee would be good for early intermediates, I'll consider going here, as it has enough easy greens and blues to practice on.
Definitely... in my opinion, this place is better suited for that level...many more easy to access beginner and intermediate slopes...
Given the bleak weather and constant snow, all the runs sounded icy, no wonder most skiers were struggling to get down.
Yeah, conditions were not the best towards the end of day... you'll see that in the next video for this resort...
The température pls
Unfortunately, the GoPro does not record temperature...
+ 3
Thanks, I love skiing ❤❤ enjoyed it with you! 6:21 😅😅😅😂😂
Glad you enjoyed! :-)
Is this track indicated on the map of the resort?
It's not on the winter map but there were marker poles, which I assume were for hiking purposes, so maybe on the summer map...
Lox
?
Красивая гора, как нарисовано
Yes, the proper side of the Matterhorn from here...
double M brings back memories....if you ski in from the plateau behind then hike the ridge, there is a fantastic couloir in the middle to drop into, then a short run back into Claret. (one of hundreds of hors-pistes fun hits)
Thanks for that info... hopefully I'll get a chance to do that this season as I'm looking for those off-piste trails....
@ChasingSnow lots more ready to find ones as well... Like, go up to aguile Pearce, then continue hiking up the road/track in front of you when you get off the chair.... Ski down the opposite side after scrambling the top.... You are now in a massive offpiste terrain which naturally brings you back towards a piste after approx 30mins
@@markdormer7959 Cheers! One of my missions for this coming season, to discover these hidden trails... I think it will bring some awesome content...
Great video, would you consider Plan M an “easy red”? ie a progression step
Do you mean double M? I suppose it depends on the snow conditions, if it's icy, it will be more difficult as from memory, it can get quite steep, but it's also quite wide making it more manageable...
@ yes, sorry double M. Not sure why I said plan 🤣
Cheers! :-)
I'm going to Zermatt in mid-December. I'll be able to ski for 4 hours, what kind of runs do you think I'll have time for? I'm going on a weekday, so it shouldn't be too crowded.
See what's open as I don't think the whole area will be accessible by then... I'm also planning a few trips this season, hoping to capture all of Zermatt and Cervinia...however, I'm not that familiar with the resort to offer advice...
@ Which resorts will you be doing this winter? I can't wait to see your videos
The theme this season, I think, will be the big ones... the channel gets a lot more interest with the more popular resorts... I'll also do some in Italy but not sure exactly which ones... I'm going with the flow... :-)
